 | Chalky Studebaker (5) 10/08/2008 | When I listen to John Denver, I feel like I want to bake a quiche or play freeze tag--you know you just get that feeling--that pumped-up feeling.

 | Marcelina (0) 08/29/2008 | I like John Denver. Okay. I said it. I don't worship him. But I like him. I'll hang out an extra few seconds in the elevator to hear him finish.

 | irishgit (151) 08/06/2008 | Pusillanimous fraud. I'd sooner have a testicle cut off than listen to this lathe-turned moron.

 | CanadaSucks (50) 07/11/2006 | Absolutely horrible and worthy of ridicule, but gets 3 stars for standing up to the fascist PMRC and speaking for artistic freedom against that drone Tipper Gore and other DC-wife-hags. . .

Quality artists whose down home country boy schtick opened himself up for ridicule by the critics. The fact of the matter is he was a good songwriter and guitarist.

 | X Factor Z (15) 07/10/2006 | Sang some really great songs, "Country Road" is one of my all time favorites. Great to good singing voice, very folksy at times.

 | oscargamblesfro (81) 12/10/2005 | Abysmal, sappy, dreck. It's simply incredible that he was so huge in the 70's. If I was a hippie in the early 70's, instead of an infant watching Cookie Monster's (or Grover's) shenanigans like I was ( I was born in '70) I'd have figured it was time to wave the white flag and surrender to 'The Man' and the squares when a guy like THIS was huge! Proof that there was a conspiracy to destroy great music and replace it with bubblegum and the lamer singer songwriters like this guy in the early 70'S.

 | thenewageriseth (4) 04/15/2005 | I'm only 18. I heard him on the radio when I was young, listening to nostalgic
hits.
I like Rocky Mountain High
Country Road, Take Me Home and that other song that's in the key of D major.
I read that he was a real nature person. Also saw a movie about him.

 | edt4 (110) 01/20/2005 | This guy was always sort of a guilty pleasure of mine. A lot of his songs were sickly saccharine, but some of them had genuine, even exhilerating, beauty to them. Rest in peace, John.

 | jtolleson1 (0) 09/13/2004 | History will remember him well as a songwriter and activist. Too bad he was doing his best work at such a cynical and materialistic time.

 | LanceRoxas (41) 09/06/2004 | Great song writer. One of my favorite to drive down the highway alone belting out the songs like a fool to. LOL

 | EschewObfuscation (71) 07/30/2004 | Even in his heyday, the late 60's and early 70's, he was mocked and ridiculed, but his music was almost universally liked. He went way overboard with his personal sappiness, but this guy could write music and perform. I met him briefly in the 70's (as a fan would meet a star) and he was very genuine, very sincere. From Leavin' on a Jetplane to Country Roads his music just invited you to sing along.

 | Molfan (60) 03/25/2004 | He wrote some beautiful songs.I liked his soothing ballads. my sweet lady, back home again, his more upbeat and fun like Thank god I'm a country boy, and grandma's feather bed. Country roads was another nice song. Too bad he died before his time.
