Good coach in that he took a morbid Pitt prorgam that had run itself into the ground and built it back up to respectability. Pitt isnt the power it once was, but they are no pushovers anymore. Harris has done some good work at Pitt and was fortunate to get Larry Fitzgerald to play for him a few years back. This is a school with a proud Football history and is located in an area that appreciates hard-nosed football and produces quality players. You can take this job and run with it and for the most part Harris has done just that. He needs to improve his Bowl reocrd and he needs to cut down on the close call games played against weaker opponents. He wins most of his games at the end of the day and Pitt Football is relavant again so he gets Four stars.

Pitt made a big mistake.

If he didn't bring them to above average as aprogram hed get one star. He is by far the worst gameday coach in big time football. The slide is one thing I just cant over look. Not to mention on national TV against ND this year when on camera he says flip it and runs the same fb dive to the other side, all of america knew it was coming. He just dosent have any personality or guts. All the HS coaches in Pittsburgh hate him and the recruits dont like him that much either ie morelli and johnson. F him, let him go to a worse job and get fired in three years.

Walt Harris is the WORST COLLEGE GAME DAY COACH EVER. With descent coaching, Pitt should be going for its 3rd or 4th BCS game. Anyone can beat bad teams. They are the only teams he has beaten over the past 7 years. Once in awhile the odds are you will beat a good team. (very few and far IN BETWEEN). A schedule full of Temple, Rutgers, Syracuse, 1 or 2 Mid American conference teams and some other lower caliber teams = A WINNING SEASON AND A BOWL BID. I feel that he has too many goof ups to even try to mention. I must comment on the Notre Dame game at N.D. 2002. Walt punted into the end zone from the Notre Dame 25. If that was unbelieveable, try this, on the next possession he punted from the (I think) N.D. 26. Net gain 5&6 yards. With this kind of coaching, how can you win? We dominate the game 3-1 yards-but lost on the scoreboard.

He gets some credit because he started with nothing at Pitt. However, he's terrible on gameday and is quickly returning the program back to the nothing that he started with.

Hey Snyder, It's time to unblacklist all the users who posted negative things about Walt Harris. You shouldn't keep them all banned just because they were all correct WAY before you, Steve, Joe Huber, and Dream (what a gay name). Everyone you blacklisted is just smarter than you girls. Walt has plateaued at Pitt...he took the program out of the depths of mediocrity, but as it starts to go back there, it begs the question how much of that was luck?

Did a nice job reviving program from the dead but has been slowly leading us back to where we were in 1996 so it's time to move on and for us to find someone dedicated to recruiting Western PA kids and building relationships with Western PA HS coaches.

Might be a good NFL OC. Can't cut it as a HC, though, on any advanced level. Maybe D-II at best. Thinks he's too good to allow anyone else to run his offense, therefore no real OC on his staff. This has worked, by my rough estimate, for exactly ZERO teams, save for maybe Mike Holmgren in Seattle. HC doesn't have time to be a true OC, as well as QB coach.

He can rebuild a program, establish a West Coast Offense, develop QB's better than anyone in America. However, he loses 2 games he should win, cannot recruit on a high level and does not come up with Game Plans unique enough to win 10+ games every year!
