Sonny is a legacy that has made his teams successful not only on the feild but in life after football as well. His numerous players over the years are a very broad part of his extended family and will continue to be. He has always had the ability to take boys and turn them into men and he will always coninute to do that. Football is a game of ups and downs and right now CSU is in that downtime, but where would CSU Football have been if my uncle had not come to Fort Collins in 1993; where would the success of CSU football be rated then.

Sonny is by far and away one of the best coaches in college football. He has taken a program from the gutter to a yearly top 25 team. If he had signed as head coach at Miami a decade ago, Nebraska, Florida, and Florida State don't have as many national titles.

Doing what now, mediocre.

Sonny is one of the greatest legacies of the Butte, Montana, football heritage. The fact that he started out coaching at both Butte High and Montana State is a big plus.

Perfect coach for a clean, fun program.

While Coach Lubick's days at CSU are numbered (he's well into his 60's) he deserves so much credit for turning one of the biggest laughingstocks in all of college football into a BCS-caliber powerhouse. One day his hard work will pay off - a well-deserved invitation to the Big XII or the PAC-10 will be the fruit of his labor, even if it's his successor who is at the helm when the time comes. A truly respected and outstanding coach who means more to his community than almost any other coach in the country.

Sonny is a Man's Man. A second Father to his players, and the savior of CSU football. Sincere, genuine, and in every sense of the word, a WINNER!

Not too many coaches have managed to do what Sonny has done for this program, Let alone get the stadium named after him while still active. He is one of the only true coaches to the game. Respects his players and coaches..

Down to earth, he has a talent to make everyone around him feel important.

One of the most respected cocahces in any sport. Imagine what he could do with BCS $$$$

97% of D1 programs would have loved to have had Sonny coaching their teams the past 10 years. Look at the alternatives in our own state.
RAM SMITH 07/14/2004
He has been building a CLEAN, winning program for nearly a generation. He's one of the best & most underrated in all of college football.

Sonny has completely turned around and brought respect to the CSU program. No scandals or NCAA probations - just a quality team.

The man could of moved on to several larger programs, several times. However, he's got a good thing goin in Fort Collins and I think his bar tab would get picked up just about anywhere in Colorado outside of Boulder. Gotta love him.
Big Friggin RAM FAN 07/14/2004
This guy squeezes the pulp out of every average--talent-wise--player that comes through this emerging program. CSU is, no doubt, the best non-BCS football program in the country. Look out, because this will be the first team absorbed into a BCS expansion conference.
Ram Fan 07/14/2004
Consistently wins with an underfunded budget going against teams from the BCS. Has extemely tough OOC schedules. Runs an exceptionally clean program.

I have seen CSU football go from one of the worse programs to one of the most respected. Sonny gets everything he can out of his players, program and support. CSU plays in a small and outdated stadium so I don't know how he recruits when he goes after players larger schools are recruiting. That will change next year. The facilities aren't the greatest but getting better. This year was a bit disappointing but he lost some key coaches. Lubick is a great coach and great person in the community.
