OK.  I'm coming clean.  I've seen every episode of this show.  Literally.  Every episode.  I know this because I rented 4 episodes at a time from the video store, one disc at a time.  YeaH, What?  At least I missed the commercials.  I think I liked it mainly because it was light, airy California, and the scenery worked.  I could come home, sit on the couch,  put my feet  up, drool on my shoulder, and watch people have weird lives in this nice sunny place.  They really pushed the whole SoCal scene more than other shows people claim are comparable, which was probably what made it most appealing for me.  I could zone out, escape, and be entertained!  Yes!

Comparable in badness to other FOX turkeys like the now defunct Boston Public, and live ones like American Idol or Prison Break. Mostly bad writing, dull characters and dull storylines. But I wouldn't say the acting is bad, merely wasted (I think Melinda Clark and Autumn Reeser deserve better).

honestly, josh is an idiot. WHY? WHY?.. would you kill one of the fab 4? I refuse to watch it if marissa doesn't come back. I don't wanna watch kaitlyn's life story. UGH.

It reminds me of a sexed-up version of Dawson's Creek. Ben Mackensie is hott, and Mischa Barton is cool, but I don't like the premisis of this show. It focuses too much on sex, even more so than Dawson's Creek, and the story isn't as realistic.

Am I suppose to be interested in the teen angst of a bunch of bored rich kids or that pseudo-bad boy/wrong side of the tracks, cliche guy? A hybrid of 90210 and Dawson's Creek. Seen it all before. NEXT!

what a piece of crap

The first episode of this show I watched was the first episode of the second season. I was hooked. I started downloading the first season, got frusterated and went out and bought the thing on DVD. Started raving about it to my friends, and got one of them (who thinks pop-culture is the anti-christ) became a convert and recently purchased her set on DVD. As you can see pretty clearly from the ratings graph, you either love it or you hate it. I would say if you aren't hooked by the very first episode, you probably won't be at all, and if you are...well, enjoy the ride. But try it out.

Thought I'd like it, as everyone I know seems to love it, but it's just an unwatchable mess. The adult and teen plotlines don't mix well. The Seth Cohen character is annoying and doesn't blend with the ensemble. Actress playing Marissa Cooper looks like a 40-year-old. And Ryan is supposed to be all intense and full of angst, but he just looks constipated. Totally overrated show.

I am a 28 year old mother of one. Our TV is usually set on the Wiggles or a sports event but since this show started we have been hooked! It is a show for all ages. Between the great music and the various age group drama's you can't go wrong! I hope that they keep it in this time slot and day of the week. I have heard rumors that their ratings aren't as good since switching to Thurs. I love it! Don't change a thing.

This is the best show ever. I wait for Thursday all week. There is no better show. I mean come on, Benjamin McKenzie is hot. Adam Brody is great also. I couldn't belive that on the last episode last season Ryan left the OC. I was real happy to see that at the end of the Season Premire he is moving back in with the Cohen's. Teresa was wrong to tell Ryan she lost the baby when she really didn't. Ryan loves the baby, how could she not see it. His mind is just on other things. I hope Ryan gets back with Teresa though, they make a cute couple, but they need to both be in the OC so Ryan can still go to school there. The Cohen's already said they would help with the baby.

It's strangely addictive as you wonder what this cast of good looking people has in store for you in the next week to come. The OC doesn't really have any morals or messages (except get high and have sex... choose your mate based on looks and not personality, and loads of other important life lessons all children should learn ASAP), but it's somehow entertaining to see how much the lives of these kids can spiral out of reality and into fantasy and overdramatic turns of events. The direction is good, the acting is alright, the script is mediocre (but I suppose it's a reflection on the character's intelligence) with sporadic humor. After a while, the spoilt life of the OC may begin to annoy you (is there nothing those rich bastards cant complain about?), but until then, enjoy this life-or-death style depiction of adolescence and the irrational judgment that comes with it.

I only saw one episode the one where 2 guys set the house on fire when they are fighting.

I love The O.C. and I'm a guy and im not gay. I know people call The O.C. a soap opera and all but its far from a soap, its more drama, and every episope ive seen ive been thinking, holy sh**, and i cant beleive it and stuff, especially the last one when ryan left and seth went out on his boat and left two notes behind(wondering what they say :-)) all in all The O.C.'s the first show I have actually anticipated to watch and cant wait to see. Ive seen every episope and The O.C. is AMAZING!

The OC is well put together there can. Never be to much drama! The actors and actress's are good performers. The season one finale made me just want more and more, I cant wait till season two rolls around !!!!!:)

I watched the first run when Ryan first came to the OC. I thought it was pretty good. But once it restarted after the World Series, it started to go downhill. And Seth must be blind to have chosen Anna over the far hotter Summer. After that, I knew it was done. Anorexic Marissa wasn't too hot, either. Pack it in OC.

We love this show. I have not been interested in the other night time soaps but I feel this is a good one. Our whole family, Sons, Daughters, Daughter-in-laws, Son-in Laws, and Grandkids from the ages of 6 through 14 never miss an episode. The characters are awesome and very pleasing to the eyes. I can't say enough about the show. However the season final, really upset us. Never once did the possibility of Eddie being the father get addressed. It is just assumed that Ryan is the father and that he should take responsibility. I know that there needs to be twist and turns in Ryan and Mirashia's relationship but this one made us mad. For once let them be happy togeter for while. I'm sure Ryan isn't leaving the show and that he will be back but we didn't like the fact that he left to be with Teresa. We even said that if Ryan stays in Chino we may not watch the show anymore. We will be looking forward to seeing up comming previews about the show in the fall to decide if we will continue to watch the series. Ryan and Mirashia show such passion with each other. It look as if they are really in love. We love Seth and Summer being together. Sandy and Kierstan. WOW! Please consider getting Treasa out of the picture. After all Luke is out of the way. Send Ryan back to where he belongs... With Mirashia, Seth, Sandy and Kierstan.

I agree it has drama, but it just isn't believable. Almost every character is a wannabe and it just doesn't carry a good storyline. If you want true drama, watch One Tree Hill.

I consider this a primetime soap opera and as far as those go, it's better than average. It's really nothing special, just a lot of exaggerated drama and so-so actors. In spite of all this, it still remains entertaining to watch. The cast members are all predictably beautiful and fit their roles well. I must say I enjoy Peter Gallagher in this role so much I almost stop noticing his eyebrows!
