Gregory Peck was a great actor. I think he was even a superior actor to Jerry Lewis and Andy Griffith

Yes he is dead, but yet my husband is still jealous of him. I don't think he's the most talented actor out there, but the look and his voice made up more than enough for that. Aside from that, he's a great person that any Hollywood actor today should try to emulate.

Classy, sexy, talented - he had it all (yes, to those of you posting that he is dead, WE KNOW. This is the "Classic" actor area - for living actors go to the section for rating living actors.

"To Kill a Mockingbird", "Cape Fear", "12 O' clock High", "Spellbound", "The Gunfighter", "Moby Dick", and many others. For just the aforementioned films he should be in the top ten. Seemed very selective about which films he would take.

C'mon people, he's DEAD! He is NOT a current actor.

There has never been, nor will there ever again be, an actor - not a 'star' - with the gentlemanliness, aplomb, talent and overall appeal as Gregory Peck was. As a young man and as an older man he was stunning and irreplaceable. I've missed him for years and continue to watch his movies.

I'm not so much sure why he is counted as a current actor and not a classic one, but whatever. Whatever type of actor Mr. Peck may be, he is a first rate one. His performance in To Kill A Mockingbird was one the best performances to ever grace the silver screen. His performance in Roman Holiday was just plain sexy. He had the gift of playing off of his fellow actors and actresses. He used their talents to enhance his own performance. He took advantage of what he was given to work with. That's a great actor.

First rate actor in many different roles. He was versatile.

One of the greatest actors who ever lived. He hasn't been dead for years. He died June 13, 2003. One of the best if not the best actor, classic or current.

Gregory Peck, San Diego native, was magnificent in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, I loved strong moral roles he played in Hollywood.

Great in To Kill a Mockingbird.
tunatun 02/04/2005
Shouldn't he be under the classic actors category?

His politics sometimes controversial, Gregory Peck was nevertheless one of the greatest actors ever. Blessed with a deeply resonant voice and handsome features, he was celebrated onscreen. Outside of Hollywood, his firm passion for his core beliefs and ideas commanded the respect of his peers- and even those who disagreed with him- alike. Amidst everything just said, Gregory Peck will forever be remembered for having played the most memorable literary character and greatest hero ever on the silver screen: Atticus Finch.

A man of character. Always seemed you could trust Gregory Peck. Atticus Finch was the perfect role for Gregory Peck. Very versatile actor.

Gregory Peck is one of the best. His performance in "To Kill A Mockingbird" needs no additional praise. He is an actor for all generations.

One of the greats of all-time. May he rest in peace. To Kill a Mockingbird will always be one of my favorites.

Why isn't the recently deceased Gregory Peck in the top 20? Oh well, I guess soon he will be put into the Classic Actors section, a place where he definitely belongs. A class act, his performance in To Kill a Mockingbird was the best of the 60's.

A great actor. I loved him in Roman Holiday as the reporter who takes a princess on a tour of Rome, undercover. My favorite role for him was in To Kill A Mockingbird.he was perfect as Atticus Finch the lawyer who defended an african American man who had been wrongly accused of raping a woman. It was hard to see him play a bad guy. I always liked him in the good guy roles. I heard he was also a wonderful humanitarian. Sadly I heard on the news that Gregory Peck died today another one of our legends. He will be missed.!

I have always thought that Gregory Peck was a great actor even when I was very small. My brother and I used to drive our parents nuts watching 'Macennas Gold' all of the time and I still love it now, it's a great action movie. The Guns of Naverone was another great success, so successsful that they had to make a sequal. Robert Mitchum pitted against Gregory would make a fantastic film any day of the week, but with such an interesting screenplay that Robert Di Nero felt that he wanted to do remake of it! And what about The Big Country...the film with the famous soundtrack? Co-starring Charleton Heston it was truely a landmark film that perhaps paved the way to many of the epic stories that we see on film today and which coincidentally Gregory helped produce. He has brought me many hours of viewing pleasure and I wish him well for the future. Just remember "old turkey buzzard. That old turkey buzzard.."

If possible, 5 stars for the voice alone. But add to that a hugely respected and impressive body of work and there aren't enough stars to do him justice. Cape Fear, The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, Roman Holiday, the list goes on and on. And, of all his great roles, if I were to pick my personal favorite, it would without a doubt be Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird". Some roles - like Clark Gable as Rhett Bulter or Judy Garland as Dorothy - seem meant for one actor alone to play. This has never been more true than in the case of Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch. At least I know that I will always hear only his voice when I read this memorable line from the movie, "I remember when my daddy gave me that gun. He told me that I should never point it at anything in the house. And that he'd rather I'd shoot at tin cans in the backyard, but he said that sooner or later he supposed the temptation to go after birds would be too much, and that I could shoot all the blue jays I wanted, if I could hit 'em, but to remember it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Well, I reckon because mockingbirds don't do anything but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat people's gardens, don't nest in the corncrib, they don't do one thing but just sing their hearts out for us." Blows me away every time!
