The title of my review says it all. I like this little slow cooker but the lowest setting is too hot. The knob fell off so I have to use a pot holder to turn the dial. And, there's no "off" switch. All that being said, if you need to cook something fast in your slow cooker, this is the one for you. Keep in mind that recipes that should have finished in 8-10 hours have been ready in 4-6 in this little guy.

This product is like "old faithful" It is useful and flexible. Brown a roast on the stove, set the pot on the heat source, let it cook. No extra pot to clean. Lightweight and easy to maintain. Modestly priced and a true value for the money.

As I told the woman when I called the 800 # about the product received, I was not impressed with the quality of this slow cooker. It looks very cheaply made even tho it isn't cheap. I've had 3 other West Bend slow cookers and have been happy with all of them but not this one so I returned it and went to a hardware store to buy a different one.

My over-90 mother in law gave me my first (very old) West Bend slow cooker. It was round, teflon coated interior and Coppertone! in color. That should tell you how old. (smile) It worked great, very versatile and I loved it. I passed it on 2 years ago, a little worn looking but in perfect working order, and got this one.

I just love it. Chili, pot roast, lamb shanks all the usual crock pot stuff comes out great. I always brown in it on my gas burners. No problems with bowing on the gas stove, burning or underheating. no problems with the teflon coating at all.

Now I'm branching out and getting brave.
I made banana bread in it the other day - 2 hours on high and it was wonderful!
even with doubling the banana it came out perfect. I did use cinnamon sugar and nuts on top to compensate for browning. No one missed the browning. Barely got 2 bites myself because everyone else jumped on it.
