As an ultra-liberal Democrat, I can only say that Der Gubbanator ees my kind of Republican! Go Ahhhnold Go! TAKE the Republican Party's Presidential Primary away from the "southern moron lobby" from down south! That's the ONLY WAY to save the party. Let's be honest here, the GOP is putting their Christian Fundies in the corner of the classroom to wear the dunce hat - and rightly so. They're KILLING PARTY's credibility for thirty or fourty generations. Re-litigating the Scopes Monkey Trial is their agenda, having WITCHCRAFT TRIALS again. HERE IN MY STATE they're preaching CrAcKPoT "intelligent design" theories and telling school children that donkeys talk and that UniC0rNs are REAL! The radical Christian right gave the Germans some bad leadership back a few decades ago and now they've infected and infested the GOP. (The Guardians Of Priveledge) If a thinking, rational liberal "Republican" - married to a member of the Kennedy family - can save them from themselves and make the RNC the new liberal party, I'll swap sides! I'm a LIBERAL - and the college Republicans are becoming more liberal than the college Democrats!

Good actor and even a good governor despite what people say about him. I decided to give him a 5 because in December 2005 there was a murderer named Stanley Tookie Williams and the idiots of California wanted Arnold to grant Williams clemency. Arnold decided not to grant him clemency and that led to his execution. As you probably can tell now, I am strongly in favor of the death penalty and so is he.

Here is my rating of the current Governor, while Gray Davis was a dummy, Schwarzenegger is a meat head'
sfalconer 12/20/2004
Arnold will make a great governor for California. The best thing about his is, he is not a career politicain like most of the front runners.
BKKloppenborg 11/18/2004
He is doing a great job better then Grey Davis did.... Of corse the only reason he won was the horrible election choices and because he is so popular as a movie star..
maersk 09/03/2004
although less odius than most republicans, hes still far from being a good governer
ANSGARD 06/08/2004
Arnold is just the best for the position

He's gonna make things better, right? He'll show those people, just like dear old Ronnie did! Things are going to change, I can feel it... Do you think you know your hero Arnold? He's a real stand-up guy. Or is he? He's a wealthy guy, but he still has to answer to master. He's not what you think, and he's as compromised as they get. http://www.sacbee.com/content/politics/story/915114 8p-10076740c.html His lack of integrity has even caused Austria to turn on him. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c...MNGUL6FVHG1.DTL All are bought and all is sold. I don't know which I love more, his complete disrespect for women, or his complete respect for Hitler. Ronald Reagan was the beginning of neoconservatism, and a huge mistake. Now we're getting someone who is trying to help ENRON and drop fundings for schools. This country is a joke. Why do I insist on trying to help it?
BeatlesfanStev eo 03/28/2004
Hey who said celebritys make bad politicians. Yea for example look at Jessie the body Venturer oh wait he sucked well on the bright side he is a republican.
irishgit 03/05/2004
Look, I don't know jack about the guy's politics, and don't much care. What I take a bit of exception too, however, is the frequently expressed notion, both in the media and in venues such as this web-site, that his being an actor somehow automatically makes him unqualified for public office. This strikes me as a ridiculous and elitist attitude. What is it about lawyers, enterpreneurs, doctors, teachers, labour leaders, ex-jocks, ex-military, housewives, and accountants that make them any better qualified to run a city, state or nation. In fact, a cogent argument could be made that a few less of the above would be a benefit to the greater good. I'm not a Californian, I think its their issue to deal with, but whether or not someone is or has ever been an actor is irrelevant.
Eagle Scout 11/19/2003
Davis, your term, has been terminated
titan_9_mcnair 11/01/2003
well,im from new zealand so i dont really care if he does a good job or not.if i lived in california i would have voted for him though.hes a good man with a good heart so when push comes to shove i know he'll do what he belives is right.
jred 10/12/2003
You are screwed now California. What you have now is Arnold Schwarznegger as your govenor. Does this mean anything to you? You see as a Canadian I know Arnold as a realy poor action actor from Austria. Arnold's only substance is his physical mass. He is a harmless idiot, but idiots in power are rarely harmless.
PraiseTexas! 10/09/2003
Sorry loosers, but you have been terminated! The people have spoken and they are not wrong. Arnold is a big hero of California, just like Ronald Reagan. The world will be a better place.
BIGBABY 10/07/2003
He's got it. A few more hours till its confirmed...
DeathRattle 10/07/2003
Arnold may have no political experience. However, I would welcome a change in a leader. Let's have someone who is not yet a full blown politician take office and see how the experiment goes. Besides, he has some experience in running a business, and politics is basically a business in itself (unfortunately). He does have ideas for what actions he wants to take in office. He may have not worked out the details yet. Come to think of it, most of the higher running candidates have not given any specifics to any of their plans. Above all else, anything would be better that biggest state debt in history driver Gray Davis
Creamy Goodness 10/07/2003
American politics are almost as funny as Canadian.
Earthsun 10/07/2003
Go grope yourself Arnold!
RebelYell1861 10/06/2003
I hope he gets it. It would be a huge step up for Calif.
S.O.G.W.A.P. 10/05/2003
Ok! If Gray Davis and all the lying Democrats are attacking him this bad then he must be ok!! I like the way his wife is sticking by him too. This is a really difficult choice to make between "Egger" and McClintock. I am praying that we make the right one. I now respect and admire Maria Shriver more than I ever have before. Before I thought she was just another celibrity/NBC News reporter. Now I think she has courage, integrity and some steel in her backbone (figuratively speaking). See you at the polls!
liasduh 10/02/2003

Scharzenegger's performance in the only debate he showed up for confirms that he lacks detailed understanding of California government and issues. It seems the best he can do is name problem areas, but he has only glib generalities, no specifics, about how he'd deal with them. He demonstrated the worst possible combination: A very assertive personality, lacking insight, and being a poor listener.
Brandon0823 09/30/2003
I'd love to see ArrrNoold stuff Arianna's head in a toilet and flush it.
dweekly 09/29/2003
Big, strong, beefy, and rich. He's hawking his body for the election as much as Mary Carey. He's evaded any debates and waffled on not accepting special interest donations by changing his definition of "special interest". I have no faith that Arnold would not be a portal for incredible governmental corruption.
missue 09/28/2003
Before he carries on about the Indian casinos in California, who by the way, have employees who live and eat in our communities, pay utilities and spend money locally. Maybe he would be our man, if we heard that he planned to build a TOLL BOOTH at the California/Nevada border and collect the taxes on any money going across the state line to be gambled and lost in and to the state of Nevada. Money that California will get no benefit from at all, not ever. (It might help pay one of the casinos light bills, but it sure won't help the California economy one bit.) Any money lost in any casino, has already been taxed. At least if it was lost in California, it would be spent here. These employees live in these towns with casinos, and pay rent, utilities, buy food and gas and anything else we all do each day. It is not all going to the "Indians", and so what if it did? Who does it go to in Nevada?
Pro-Christian 09/27/2003
No thanks!
Jessie D 09/21/2003
Whatever he lacks in political experience, he makes up for in the ability to accomplish his goals. I knew him before he was famous - ignore the gossip. He is and was charming, intelligent, and a total gentleman. The only women who were treated without respect were the groupie volunteers hanging out at Gold's.
kolby1973 09/15/2003
I live about as far away as one can in the continental US from California, but I still feel that Arnold Schwarzenegger is a genuinely nice person with a loving heart. I think it would be wonderful if the people of California would vote him in as governor. He seems like such a great person. Not too bad of an actor either. This wouldn't be the first time an actor was governor of California. So get off your uppity soap boxes people ! ~~~Kolby
ihateroscoe 09/14/2003
YOU GOT TO GIVE ARNIE TWO THUMBS UP FOR WANTING TO MAKE ENGLISH THE PRIME LANGUAGE OF CALIFORNIA!!!
boyd1977 09/14/2003
I say give the guy a chance. What the he!!, right. Let the people vote and if they want him they can have him. Ronald Reagan was an actor before he was the President. I know there is a big difference, but you cannot dismiss him because of his career.
lanelle 09/12/2003
You know I do harbor some concerns over Arnold's political savvy, and sometimes lack of knowledge on some issues. However he seems to have the principles, optimism and gusto that California leadership sorely lacks. He seems to care about power for the sole purpose of reforming California's chaotic tax system. Even if he only lasts for a short while, if he can make a dent in the sorry state of affairs in that sad state he'll be happy. I'll give him a four because he can't be any worse than most of the other jokes in the race right now. I worry about his abilities to handle such a nightmare job, but I wouldn't be surprised if his performance turns out to be far better than our expectations.
DougOtis 09/11/2003
Contrary to Arnold's TV ads indicating California revenue was running behind spending by $29 million each day, California is actually taking in $6 million more per day than being spent. California's finance director Steve Peace indicated this ad was based on a "misconception" that a $38.2 billion deficit exists. The revenue shortfall could cause a deficit of an estimated $7.9 billion for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2004, but if economic conditions improve the deficit could be as low as $3.9 billion, not including the reserve of $2.2 billion established in the 2003-2004 budget. Thursday, Arnold Schwarzenegger clarified his statement that he didn't intend to accept outside campaign contributions. Now he will not take money from labor unions or Indian tribes. His concern was he may later negotiate with these groups as governor. Odd, but the same is true for corporations and business associations? His refusing a donation from a sheriff's group makes it clear where Arnold intends to cut. He already considered school vouchers. Bye-bye public schools. Ironic, it was corporate influence in politics that inspired the recall law originally. Arnold still has not clarified his actions and statements in '77. In addition, recent actions, and not just those of his youth, showed little respect for women as reported in "The Groping Governor" by Wendy Leigh, Daily Mail 18 August 2003. An issue he refuses to address. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/showbiz/articles /6270067 In this article, Arnold gropes young women where insiders label him ‘the octopus’. As example, in a 2000 London interview, Arnold asked Anna Richardson if her breasts were real. He then pulled her onto his knee, circled her nipple with his finger, squeezed it and announced: ‘Yeah, they are real.’ The latest from the British magazine Time Out reported this week in Time magazine, schwarzenegger said Americans were money oriented, lazy and plagued with sexual hang-ups. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,4832 64,00.html Arnold still can not offer opinions on many major issues being addressed by other candidates. On serious concerns, he had the press fawning over his sensitivity to a comment by Davis on his mispronunciation of California. Arnold now claims he loves America and, as proof, he became a citizen not mentioning he still is a citizen of Austria. On politics, not touched was how he views his association with former Nazi, Kurt Wilhelm. Arnold is not a moderate Republican as he pretends. Will California take this method actor role playing a politician seriously? The only debate for Arnold is the one with a script. I fear the public will never learn anything directly from this Austrian.

UPDATED: We know nothing at all about how he plans to run the state, the only reason people are even looking to vote for him is because he is so well known. What he will be turned into is nothing but a puppet for the Replublicans to use for the next four years. This entire election is a joke, thanks a lot Republicans...you complain and complain but only make matters worse. This is also a very good way to keep Bush in office; force a Republican into the capitol of a predominately liberal state.

Why don't we just vote for "Top Meat-head"? He could run against the Ham-burglar and Porky Pig. The millionaires behind the slick trick of this engineered election must agree with PT Barnum -- you can fool some of the people all of the time.

Everywhere I go in California I am always surrounded by hordes of people. Crowded freeways. Crowded stores. I am forever standing in a long line along with fellow Californians, waiting to pay for gas, groceries, shows, etc. As I stand in these lines with tons of other people we are all giving a good portion of our money in sales tax. We have jobs paying state income tax. Special California taxes on gas on and on we are taxed. Money from the hordes in Californis flows into Sacramento. Yet, the legislatures in Sacramento are overspending, taking our hard earned money and blowing it. I say elect Arnold Schwarzenegger to go up to Sacramento and get this mismanagement of tax dollars stopped. Sacramento needs to be held accountable for their foolish squandering of tax dollars. I say go Arnold!
herrerafam 09/04/2003
A sleazy media-hound in his youth, Schwarzenegger hasn't changed much.
birdiegram 09/04/2003
Why, being an actor with an intelligent wife is not a good platform to run for govenor
JRay 09/02/2003
Arnold, if you truly do care about California, please step aside for a man like Tom who can truly rebuild California again.
mikeholly93 09/02/2003
Arnold is a great actor who has starred in many great action movies but he would make a lousy governor or politician period.
bigdingbat 09/01/2003
Guess what, Arnie!.. You're going to loose!.. You said you're against special interests, but it turns out that you are nothing but a Bush republican trying to lie and distort your way into office. Do you think California is actaully going to fall for it? Apparently now you're afriad to debate anyone. You're an unqualified, spineless coward.
Mel Lastman 09/01/2003
Arnold is running as an action hero. If you have watched enough movies you come to realize that action heros never say anything worthwhile and eventually blow everything up. Schwarzenegger has refused to say what his plans are because he doesn't have any plans once he's elected governor. Of course there are people who are pulling Arnold's strings who have many, many interesting plans, but they don't want anyone, especially Arnold, to know what they plan to do once the Terminator takes power. I am a leftist, I have beliefs. I don't agree with right-wingers, but I respect the fact that they do stand for something and will act on their beliefs. What scares the hell out of me though are those who have no beliefs because they're liable to do anything
neolex 08/30/2003
Too bad there is no 0-stars option. Arnold is just a dumb millionaire who wants to try himself at running the state. And since he probably does not have a mind of his own, he will be like a puppet pulled by the strings by people whose opinions he considers relevant. So even if he wins, he is not the one who will run the state. After the election is over and he wins, I will be very happy to live on East Coast, because if people of California do elect Arnold, they probably do not deserve anything better.
revenant2u 08/30/2003
What California needs now is a winner! And Arnold Schwarzenegger is that winner!
driver 08/29/2003
Schwarzenegger is being crammed down our throats as the Republican golden-boy because he has money, money, money, and pals around with other cigar-chomping guys with money and power. This is such a back-room deal, it makes me sick. He has NO qualifications for the office! California has an economy equal to most countries in this world--how we can hand it over to such a light-weight? He can't even articulate his positions past a simple one-liner. The positions he does have, he stole out of Tom McClintock's campaign. Dear California: The Republicans are counting on the unwashed masses to vote for a "celebrity" with no clue of how to run an immense economy such as California has. By the way, Arnold has already lied, and is raking in money from huge land developers and other big business interests. And then there's the OUI article, exposing his true personality! (If he were a democrat, you can bet that article would be read over and over and over by every conservative talk-show host in the country). I could go on and on but I'm getting depressed. TOM MCCLINTOCK IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WHO HAS THE ANSWERS AND THE EXPERIENCE TO SAVE THIS STATE.
