I think she got liberal because her ex came out. She used to be very right wing, what's up with the switch and when the going got tough she ran. Thanks Arianna for dropping out it was the best move of your political career and hopefully your last.

A decent liberal. Showed the world that Arnold is a misogynist. Accomplished columnist, pundit, and writer.

For the little respect that many had for her at the beginning of her campaign for California Governor, leave it to Arianna Huffington to lose this (and much of her credibility) during the gubernatorial debate when she decided to attack Arnold Schwarzenegger personally. Obviously of little understanding when it comes to civil behavior, she shrieked and mocked Arnold- and then made insidious comments about the Bush Administration (making everyone wonder whether she was running for Governor or President). She kept on interrupting and disrupting others, not sticking to the issues, and making this a personal vendetta against all Republicans. Appropriately, Huffington is less remembered as time passes, possibly headed towards anonymity, as she deserves it.

i have been told she was intelligent, but i can't understand a word she says. the hiring of an interpreter would put the state further into debt.

Nothing more than self-publicity, for whatever reason.
praveling 09/30/2003
Rating of 3 is the average of some more favorable impressions from previous campaigning and a poor performance in the 9/24 debate, where her defining trait was being a Schrzenegger critic instead of a public policy builder.

Pretentious and uninteresting.

Noted tax cheat whose ideology is refocused every few years when she feels the political winds are changing direction. Very interesting that five years ago she was a gung-ho conservative drooler, but today is doing a fairly unconvincing imitation of a fuzzy-haired liberal. You really have to question this idiot's credibility. What are her true core values and convictions? That is, outside of self-promotion and tax evasion? You also have to wonder who makes the decisions to give a twerp like this a syndicated newspaper column and TV airtime. I hear so much that this birdbath is so brilliant, but I can't remember a single time she said anything prescient, tremendously insightful or noteworthy. Obviously, people are easily impressed. I also find it interesting that after her sham marriage, her greedhead of an ex-husband came out of the closet. Arianna made her husband gay!!!
shyann 09/28/2003
She is one of the rudest Candidate's I have seen yet. I don't agree with her policies, and someone should tell her that just because she raises her voice, doesn't mean anyone will listen to what she has to say. Turns me off completely.
abichara 09/28/2003
Arianna is a classic "limosine liberal". She moans and complains about everything. She sits there and talks about the inequity of the tax system and meanwhile doesn't even pay her taxes! She talks about money in politics as if it were a pancea yet when her ex-husband ran a losing campaign for the Senate in 1994, he ran the most expensive Senate campaign in history to that date! Arianna's a wannbe socialite who wants attention. Think about this, in 1995, she was encouraging Newt Gingrich to run for president. Now she's a ubber liberal? Like all elitist liberals, Arianna's short on substance and really long on the credibility gap. She'll go with whoever or whatever is convienient for her.

Arianna is very honest and to the point. I appreciate that. She is a very beautiful woman.

Arianna is taking the heat for the confrontation between herself and Schwarzenegger. I just watched the debate again, and realized it was Schwarzenegger who took the first personal shot: He was trying to cut her off by talking over her, and then said, "you should try some decaf" (paraphrasing, I can't understand him most of the time.) THAT was the first personal shot, and even got a groan from the audience. AFTER THAT, Schwarzenegger was interrupting her and talking over her, and she said "we know that's how you treat women, but not now"...or something like that, 'cause I really can't understand her either. I give her a good rating, just because she's the one being slammed for these exchanges. I've heard hysterical radio talk show hosts call her a witch, make fun of her accent, and say they would like to slap her in the face. (Al Rantal, KABC, John and Ken from KFI, Bill Handle, KFI.) Do you hear that about male candidates who confront each other? This society still despises women in politics, and the reaction to Arianna proves it. It's easier to attack a woman's voice, marginalize and demean her as a person than to deal with what she is saying. So, thank you Arianna, for taking the risk, the blame and the heat for confronting Schwarzenegger about his sleazy life and unfitness for this office.

A retard. How anyone finds this moron interesting is beyond me. Without money she is nothing.
loren 09/24/2003
Arianna's views are articulately put. I'm sorry that so many people on this board equate someone's accent (because of their Greek heritage) with an inability to be a good governor. Just because someone doesn't speak "perfect English" doesn't mean that their ideas are any less intelligent. I'm amazed at the racism here!
leckrone 09/07/2003
More experience on the issues than many of the other contenders.
robinh 09/07/2003
I am so glad Ariana is running. She will take away votes from the Democrats. This is a good thing. I really loved her comment right to Bustamante's pudgy little face during the debate when she point blank called his Indian gaming money bribes.
twinmom101 09/05/2003
Bitches and moans about corporate bandits and politicians who hoard wealth. That's fine and all but Arianna, can you explain why you only paid $771 in federal taxes the last two years combined while living in an 8 million dollar mansion? Hypocrite.
herrerafam 09/04/2003
Articulate, well-informed, and ready for action, Ariana ia garnering a lot of small contributions, indicating grass-roots support. She stands for honest government with fiscal respponsibility.
neolex 08/30/2003
I completely agree with what underspin83 wrote, well put. I think her lack of political "experience" is a positive thing, since she is not accustome to everpresent corruption which all politicians consider normal. Most of the people who put 1 star for Arianna used only insults and even then could hardly put a gramatically correct sentence together, talk about knowing English. I think Arianna would make a great governor, and with some luck she might win the recall election.
revenant2u 08/30/2003
If she wins I will marry a thousand clams and put them in my pants and call them macaroni!
bigdingbat 08/29/2003
She's got balls! In a perfect world she would win... Super idealistic, good communicator, good energy, genuine.. The negative postings about her on this are LAME.. "First she needs to learn english better.. "... Sheeze... Around debate time she's going to mop the floor with the other cantidates. I hope she can win more poll support in the meantime and doesnt turn into some sort of a spoiler..
kira0608 08/25/2003
Moron!
sscheidle 08/20/2003
I think I heard the ESL (english as a SECOND language) class starting - Arianna, please take your seat!
harleygirl 08/19/2003
Why is this woman even a factor? She needs to learn how to speak ENGLISH, first!
YesIamRight 08/19/2003
Baby you got moxie, but nothing else. An empty shell, when you pick it up you hear the howling wind.
Redoedo 08/15/2003
I've seen Arianna Huffington on Bill Maher's show plenty of times, and in fact, she was on tonight talking about her campaign. While I agree with some of the things that she says and find her to be a pleasant lady, I cannot bring myself to say that she would make a good governor.
lilylangtree 08/11/2003
If immigrants like Arnold "Termite the Terminator" Schwarzenegger, then they should love this woman. However, like Termite, this woman would be terrible as governor with no experience nor background to run the state. Bad, bad, bad!
sunstar 08/11/2003
Bwahahahahahah!!! I like your little hybrid car, Ms. Huffington... Do you drive it to MillionAir when you fly your private jet to $10,000/plate political dinners? Hypocrite. (At least Schwarzennegger drives a shiny new Mercedes SUV and is open about his wealth.)
