So if you want something even a bit low maintenance, this cute little humidifier is not for you. If we didn't run it every night, this thing produced mold and odor. We found ourselves constantly having to clean this little penguin up. We even bought thee little anti-bacterial contraption they sold for this at Target. Still no luck! Too bad, but this thing was all looks.

I bought this humidifier from Target and brought it home to set it up immediately. I was excited by all the great reviews that the product/brand received. Unfortunately, this one didn't even have a chance to break because it never started working properly in the first place. While I have no doubt that this is a great product for those of you whom it actually worked for, I was not able to enjoy the same experience. I only gave it one star because there was not an option to leave it starless or that would have been my choice. I believe that a products that do not work properly to begin with do not deserve to be on the shelves at popular stores, only to have consumers like myself purchase them and later have to deal with the hassle of returning the product due to a defect.

I couldn't quite give it FIVE stars for two reasons: First, I totally think they should have designed it so that the steam came out the dragon's nose! (Instead, it comes out slits on the top of his eyeballs.) And secondly, it really seems like "cool mist" humidifiers never work quite as well for me as the ones that create warm steam. (That said, this cool mist humidifier would be totally safe for kids.) Other than that, this thing is wonderful. Small enough to fit on my bedside table, extremely easy to refill, and it can be turned on and off with a switch... All qualities I'd wished my last humidifier had. The dial also lets you decide how much mist comes out, which is nice. I have a cold with a sore throat right now, so I've been cranking up the mist... and it makes a LOT of mist at the highest level!!! I do kind of wish I'd gotten the penguin now, by the way. The dragon looks a little uglier in person than I'd expected, but I've seen the penguin in stores and it's totally cute. Oh well.

You know when it's winter and the heat is on and you pet the cats and they keep getting shocked from the static? Yeah, it's time to plug in the ol' humidifier. Prior to getting this Crane humidifier, I had one of the cheap ones that uses a filter. And those filters get so disgusting too... it really makes you wonder about the mist you're breathing in, even when you buy new ones regularly. I decided, that's it, I'm buying one of these. It's way better too, lots of mist that you can really see. Even cranked up at the highest setting, it lasts about 12 hours by my approximations. I keep it at about 3/4 the highest setting, because frankly it was just too much mist for me. I'd be careful about placing it on particle board too; it's a lot of moisture, so definitely put a little mat under it if you keep it turned up. I also love how easy it is to fill. I have the dragon model, so I just lift the head off, and there's a little handle to carry the water reservoir off the base and over to the sink. Now, keep in mind that condensation does build up in there, so it may drip a little bit, but it shouldn't gush water or anything like that. The reservoir is also small enough to easily fit under the sink. You screw off the opening, fill it up, and then screw the cap back on and you're good to go. My old humidifier, was so big you'd have to fill it in the bathtub, and then it would precariously slosh water all the way back to wherever I had it set up. I like the dragon model a lot, the only thing that seems odd to me is that the mist comes out the tops of it's eyes. I mean, maybe it's just me, but it's a *dragon*, why not have the mist come out the mouth and nostrils? ; )

I loooooooooooove the look of this humidifier, that's the major reason I purchased it...The first one came in having a crack on the side, I ended up exchanging for a new one, this one didn't have much mist coming out at first, and I just left it like that for couple weeks, it works fine now... I guess I can't complain much as this is a simple basic devise... So if you are looking for functional humidifiers, maybe you wanna get something else... FYI, the "cow" doesn't have a nightlight, so be aware when you need one~ Great customer service!
