Mildly entertaining but this was Cliff Lee, Chase Utley and Jason Werth versus a Yankees team that is basically an all-star team top to bottom. It was fairly between the two best teams in baseball, but looking at that Yankee lineup and for a pitcher to think he was going to get away from mistakes anywhere would have been a real stretch. Texiera and A Rod hardly showed up and they didn't even need to.

I hate that the Yankees won another World Series, but I'll admit that it was an entertaining six games at least. The Yankees and Phillies are both stocked with stars, and plenty of them came up big. Unfortunately Chase Utley and Cliff Lee(both could have been MVP in this series) were the only two guys for Philly who showed up enough. Ryan Howard, Jimmy Rollins, and Shane Victorino struggled a lot at the plate, and Cole Hamels didn't have the same stuff he had during last year's World Series. Despite the Phillies' struggles, they played hard and made the Series close. The Yanks had to come from behind in two of their wins, and had to break a couple of ties in game four, including the game-winning ninth inning rally. It was also interesting that it was the Yankees veterans who came through for New York while their younger players really struggled. Pettite won two of the four games, Jeter, Damon, and Matsui had averages over .350, and Rodriguez and Posada had 11 RBI between them. New York's 20-something players, Teixeira, Swisher, Gardner, Cabrera, Cano, Hughes, and Chamberlain all struggled. At least the extremely wealthy C.C. Sabathia pitched well this postseason despite not winnings a game in the Series.

Being a native New Yorker who hates the Yankees, I couldn't leave my house for fear of being kidnapped. Anyway, the series was okay in my book. It could've just as easily been the Phillies but when you're up against a $200 million dollar payroll, things suck. Baseball should have a salary cap.

I will write something more substantial when I get over my rage at the fascists winning again. Yawn.

I enjoyed this series despite the unpleasant outcome. There were some good storylines: Matsui's Godzilla like performance in Game 6, Utley's homers, Pedro's return to Yankee stadium, Girardi gambling (and barely winning) with going with only three starters on short rest, and the strong performances of aging Yankee stars like Rivera, Pettite, Jeter, etc.As a Phillies fan, the only bummer was seeing so many little mistakes by them - mistakes they usually don't make.Allowing Damon to steal second and third on the same play, Victorino misjudging a ball that would have gotten Pedro out of the inning last night keeping the game close, Utley putting too much flavor on a double play ball toss to second, Franciso allowing Jeter to score on a pop up to center - all these little mistakes add up.Also, I thought the umpiring was atrocious. Wildly fluctuating strikezones from pitch to pitch, going both ways - blown calls at the plate and at first.Oh well. Next year is another year.

As a guy who thinks the fans of both New York and Philly should suffer, I didn't have much to be stiff about, but this was a pretty decent series with timely hitting and a few stand-out performances for both squads.

Much as I hate the fact that the pinstriped ogres have another title, it was a pretty good series. Chase Utley had a monster series for the Phillies, hitting five dingers to tie Reggie Jackson's record for the most in a World Series, and Cliff Lee won both his starts for the team.It wasn't enough against a powerful Yankee lineup that got a huge performance from Hideki Matsui in the deciding game to become the MVP. The worst thing about this is that we'll be hearing more "Legends of the Yankees" bullshit for another season....
