Philips SDV221017 UHFVHFFMHDTV Indoor Antenna 1

I've been purchasing antennas for the last 30 years. I've seen some great antennas and I have seen some that work no better than a coat hanger. I bought this thing at Walmart earlier tonight. I've been fooling around with it for the past 5 hours. To say that I am frustrated would be an understatement. If it wasn't 2:30 in the morning I would be getting in my car to bring this piece of garbage back to the store right now. You get what you pay for. I wasn't expecting a miracle for $10 , but I was expecting something that would pull in a few more channels on a little TV I have in my home office. The small size appealed to me since this was just being used for a secondary TV. I knew this antenna wouldn't be great. But I was just looking for sufficient. Something that was going to be better than nothing. Well guess what. I think I was happier with nothing. Tomorrow I will either get something better (which won't be difficult) or I'll just stick a safety pin in the antenna jack. I bet you that the pin gets me more channels than this stupid antenna did.

I purchased this antenna to replace another type, this was a snap to plug up, and it does not require the adapter to use as with my other antenna. I like the feature of the middle flat panel is another way to get a better picture, not only does that add a nice look to my den, it also has great features, the channels I was only able to catch late at nite, I can catch anytime now. Great product, I ordered another for my bedroom. I am using this with that converter box and I get clear crisp pictures.

I'm not a great fan of Charter, so I subscribed to AT&T DSL and have been shopping for HDTV antennas all weekend. All the "good" and expensive stuff couldn't pick up ABC or CBS here in Fort Worth. I go to Wal-Mart and grab three different antennas, including this one. I was shocked that out of everything I've tested, the $9.99 antenna worked perfectly.

I get everything I want out of this antenna and would happily recommend it to anyone.

What a disaster. This antenna doesn't work at all on my TV, a newer JVC with a digital tuner. I couldn't figure it out until I read the fine print on the side of the box:

"Note: With screw connections a band separator (not included) is required to access UHF reception."

Since the new digital channels are in the UHF band, and since this antenna attaches to my TV with a screw connection, I think I am out of luck. Of course, the product description on Amazon and elsewhere says nothing about this.

Band separators are selling for 89 cents online. Thanks for being such cheapos, Philips. I'm sending this baby back.

I bought this antenna at a local "sprawl mart." For cheap. I thought all dipole/loop antennas roughly performed similarly.

First, when I extended one of the ears, it ended up jamming in the middle. Thinking it was just a small jam, I pulled on it a little harder, then bang, the telescoping separated into two. (poor quality control?)

Second, after I connected this, replacing my el-cheapo RCA dipole/loop, thinking the performance will be at least the same or better (what with the tuning knob), I found out that it got even worse reception, and many of the channels it doesn't seem to be able to pick up anymore.

This thing is just a huge disappointment, never again will I be fooled by Philips' lack of quality control again.

Pure junk... Should've bought a McDonald value menu meal with the money I dumped on this junk...
