Jesse, while well meaning has little chance of understanding the complexities of the region

Yes, but only because it would be just desserts for them to have to endure him for a prolonged period of time. And to provide a further incentive to get all parties to bury the hatchet, we could advise the relevant parties that if a reasonable solution isn't arrived at promptly, we will be sending Al Sharpton and Maxine Waters in to assist.

Bad idea and not because I think that he can't perform the task; I feel that it would be a waste of effort. People have been fighting in that region for thousands of years and peace just ain't gonna happen.

If he was a real peace-maker, he wouldn't deliberately stir up trouble all the time here in his own country.

He'll only go in to "broker" if he finds Osama's 30 daughters.

Few people on this earth would be qualified to do that--I don't think he's one of them.

In a recent article that i read, Jesse Jackson was protesting the Hiring of Don Schula in Alabama...WHY....personally i really think that he needs to shut up and get out ov everybodys business, seriously....how cares who they hired...yeah they were considering a "black" coach, i really dont see the big deal here. Alabama hired Don instead of all the other canidates...big deal GET OVER IT IDIOT!!!!!

It would solve absolutely nothing and the only thing that anyone would have to gain is that this jackass would gain even more undeserved media attention. Negotiating the release of hostages is a little different than resolving a conflict which is all about religious fundamentalism.

I support sending him over to Iraq as long as he carries an electronic location device to ensure he is the first casualty of any military action. A real TURD!

Well, other than boring them all to death (and therefore guaranteeing a U.S. victory) I don't see how this would help. He just talks to hear himself talk, and never says anything of consequence.

Good God! Somebody actually suggested this? No, no, this would not work in a million years. A few people in the Middle East actually believe Americans are civilized and interesting. Sending in Jesse Jackson will not do. Actually, it is my personal opinion that this topic should have been called "Send in Jesse Jackson to broker peace and while we're at it, send in a train of reporters thirteen miles long to follow him." No. Somebody with a brain needs to handle this, and I would prefer if that somebody was not George Bush - wait, did I just imply Bush had a brain? Sorry. But I would REALLY prefer that somebody to know what they are doing. Take care, everyone!

I don't know if this one solution will do much good, but Jesse Jackson has the years of experience to identify and sympathize with the oppressed Palestinians and will finally give a non-biased opinion from the United States.

This is quite a joke. I would understand maybe sending in Jimmy Carter or former Senator George Mitchell (who brokered the peace agreement between the Protestants and Catholics in Ireland), but Jesse Jackson?? But give him some credit, he has gotten American military hostages out of Syria in the 1980's and recently in Kosovo in the late '90's. But I don't think this type of negociation is quite his style. Getting one or two hostages out of a hostile country does not have as much geopolitical significance as does maintaining a balanced peace in a very delicate part of the world. Only people qualified to deal with high level information should broker a peace in Israel. In Jackson's case, he should be disqualified because he has made derrogatory comments about the Jews in the past; thus not making him an honest broker in the situation.

What a great plan! Send Jesse Jackson to the Middle East so there will be peace in America! I'll raise money for the plane ticket if neccessary I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to come up with to support such a noble cause.

I would have a hard time believing that the Middle East leaders are going to care anything about what Jesse Jackson has to say.Who is to say that Jesse Jackson is a representative for the U.S.A. anyway.? Personally I can take or leave Jesse Jackson. I do not hate him but I do not hero worship him either.I certainly do not hang on his every word , I get the feeling that a lot of others would not either.

Hmm... there's something about putting Jesse Jackson into harm's way that sounds appealing, but I sure wouldn't expect a peace deal out of it.

Yeah right. The Brother of peace. He knows how to bring feuding people together. Just like he's brought the whites and the blacks together. The best thing that could happen would be if Israel or Palestein detained him indefinitely.

Oh, wouldn’t that media hound just love it that! More undeserved attention, recognition, and most important, change in the coffer. The trouble is there is no logic involved in doing this - when there’s a crisis you do NOT send in the clowns.
