 | abichara (63) 02/20/2004 | This is quite possibly the most ridiculous item on this list. Sharon might not be holding his end of the bargain concerning the Oslo agreements, but we can deal with Sharon. The problem is that we don't get tough with him. We slap him on the hand when he refuses to evacuate illegal settlements or when he builds a wall separating the West Bank from Israel. Sharon would make a decided effort to roll back the West Bank and Gaza settlements if we just put some pressure on him and cut back on military aid. He's a tough customer and his outbursts run contrary to our interests in the region, but we definitely shouldn't go into Israel and take out Sharon. The Jews are tough fighters with plenty of weapons available in their arsenal, many of them our own! Israel is a democratic society but is heavily militarized for such a small country. They are very well aware of their security situation; in a US-Israel war, we will probably win, but it will be a very tough fight. Besides, Israel has been a fairly reliable ally in the region; indeed, they are our bulwark in the region (minus the USS Liberty incident in 1967) Sharon's government was democratically elected, a rareity in the Middle East. We should pressure Sharon to come to an accomodation with the Palestinians, but to forcibly remove him? He might not be the best leader for us to deal with, but I believe that elections will take care of him soon, being that a strong majority of Israelis are tired of fighting the same intractible battles over and over again.

 | twinmom101 (33) 04/25/2003 | Tempting, just because he's such a megalomaniacal bastard. However I'm very disturbed by this American sense of entitlement to just go bustin' into any country we want and putting in the government the White House wants. It's bad enough that Bush has a choke-hold on Washington, does he need a puppet government in every corner of the world to tell him what an awesome cowboy dude he is as well?

 | Redoedo (41) 04/22/2003 | This man was democratically elected by the Israeli people- he is their leader. It is not our business to rob the Israeli's of someone who they chose to lead them during these trying times.

 | BIGBABY (11) 04/04/2003 | Terrible idea, he's on of our only allies in the entire region. What has he done wrong? He's defending himself and his country from the Palestinian terrorists. Removing a terrorist is one thing, removing one of our allies is totally wrong. There never was a Palestinian country, there never should be.

 | ramster (0) 11/11/2002 | A Stupid thing to attempt to FORCE him out. Yet what people have to realize is that SHARON is a warm criminal he loves violence and bloodshed. How come he is even IN the Israeli Government? He orchestrated the deaths of many, you can see the evil in this man. Don't support him. America can not kick him out though, i just hope his own country realizes that their president is indirectly supporting terrorists, by terrorising their land.

 | Janey_Lane (0) 08/10/2002 | As much as I hate Sharon and would LOVE to see him removed (preferably in a strait-jacket) I do realize it would be a foolish thing to attempt. He IS after all a democratically elect leader and just because he's a jerk and can't give the Israelis the peace he promised in his election campaign, is no real reason to have him removed. His war crimes on the other hand is something that could force him to resign. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

 | Lord Luzifer (0) 04/29/2002 | removing a leader of an ALLIED country?! who is the idiot that sudgested this topic?! it's completely stupid, in it's concequences and in it's logic.

 | Potch1214 (0) 04/22/2002 | Have we ever stepped in an forcibly removed the leader of an ALLIED country? Hell, we didn't even forcibly remove Saddam-freaking-Hussein! And we wanted him dead! Removing Sharon does nothing good in this struggle. It shows the world (yet again) that we are huge bullies who slap around those who don't do what we want. It makes Israel look bad by the appearrance that the U.S. is running their country. It is just a bad, bad, bad idea!

 | CastleBee (85) 04/19/2002 | This is just as arrogant an idea as removing Arafat. It doesn't make an ounce of sense. We don't step into Northern Ireland when they have troubles - why are we so compelled to feel that this is an option in the Middle East?
