 | Zan11 (0) 06/26/2008 | I think that Russian is one of the most fascinating and best-sounding languages in existence. It is definitely one of the most difficult to learn. The Cyrillic alphabet is one of the easiest aspects; I learned much of it in about a week. But the grammar is where the hard work lies. Endings of words depend on an object or person's number, gender, etc.
Plus, I'm betting Russian will prove more useful in the near future. Remember that Russia was the leader of the Soviet Union. Power and influence like that does not just go away. I am predicting that Russia's influence will continue to increase just like the People's Republic of China.
If you're interested in learning Russian, definitely try it out. But be warned: it will not be an easy road.

 | nesher (9) 01/15/2008 | Russian is my native language, so I see no difficulties in speaking, reading or writing. It is reach in features and expressing opportunities. However, I have to admit that it is quite difficult to learn for the student. For a male, there is a possibility to marry beautiful Russian lady and get a personal tutor. There are many online agencies. I would still recommend to go for college instead - it will be cheaper and safer.

 | Limpin' Trenchfoot (16) 12/11/2006 | I've been learning Russian for 5 years and after my mum's mother tongue, Italian, it's my favourite language. It's quite easy to get to grips with the alphabet. The trickiest things are getting the endings right and figuring out how prononciation of given words alters with the change in endings. I find it very useful because even though the Eastern Bloc is no more, you can still get by in Russian in most East European countries which saves having to learn loads of separate languages.

 | LastMessenger3 (40) 06/25/2006 | Russian language is very diffcult to learn compared to English, but compared to other languages, such as Chinese or Arabic, I think it's pretty easy. I see russian language evolving throughout this century and becoming more world-spread. Russia is a big and strong country with a lot of good natural sources, good influence, and power.

 | russilovncutie (1) 03/29/2006 | I live in the Los Angeles area in there'a a lot of Russians around my area. Ever since I have made Russian-speaking friends, I learned words and phrases and it's really fun! :)I even order Russian food in the local foodstores.
People say that Russian's such a hard language, but I think any language is difficult. If you think it's hard, then it's gonna be hard but if you really want to learn it and convince yourself it's easy, then it'll be easy.
If you're interested in a good language tool, take the pimsleur course (the complete course and not instant conversation). It's an awesome way to learn any language you want.

 | Weltanschauung (0) 12/15/2003 | It is an absolutely beautiful language in every way! Not only that, but I truly believe Russian will become a very useful language in years to come. Russia is a geographic monolith replete with natural resources. It is only a matter of time before business booms and the Russian language will be popular.

 | andyjay (0) 11/12/2003 | Sometimes I think the Cyrillic alphabet is more accurate and better depicts various sounds than the Latin one, but Russian is very difficult to grasp with its many inflections.
