 | Georgie20 (0) 05/20/2006 | This is what we needed to do decades ago. Historically, the US never had problems with Middle East nations until we became advocates and protectors of Israel. We give billions of dollars to Israel in aid and we have nothing to show but a list of enemies in that region for supporting them. Israel works in the interest of Israel, not the US. People in New York also know that our ties to Israel also played a large part in the 9/11 attacks. How coincidental? We walked out of the World Summitt Meeting in 2001 in defiance with Israel and we were attacked shortly after. This was never their land if you read the Bible. It was a concession after World war II to give them their own homeland after the Holocaust. This was always palestinian land. ( hence, the Bible called the region Phillistine which means Palestine.)

 | Djahuti (57) 03/25/2005 | Severing ties would have to be a last resort. If we witheld our support for even a short time,I'm sure they'd behave much more diplomatically. There are many Jews living there who want to settle-but the extremists in their country and government won't listen to them.

 | CanadaSucks (50) 03/25/2005 | Severing ties is a little extreme, but the time has come to realize that kissing Israel's ass on a foreign-policy scale because they are our only ally in the Middle East hasn't paid dividends. They've gotten more out of the deal and all it does is make every middle-eastern kid whose hungry, poor, and desperate have a raging hard-on for the U.S. The Arab world claims it will never get a fair shake as long as Israel and the U.S. are in bed with each other. Like it or not, there is some truth to that.

 | kellycat (0) 03/25/2005 | Yes, this needs to happen.
I cringe when I read how much of my tax money over the years has gone to their interests. It is the reason why we are hated in the Arab world. I don't believe that country would do anything to support America. I read in a European newspaper that there was some celebrating in the streets of Israel on 9/11--and the interpretation was now the U.S. knows how it feels and will declare war on our enemies. And it happened...you have to wonder.

 | madmaxx (0) 10/19/2004 | This is the best thing the U.S. can do. We have alienated the rest of the world (contrary to what some believe, the UN WAS created for a purpose)....our leaders' alignment with Israel is so one-sided, it is the chief cause of such hatred in the Middle East. Not to mention the BILLIONS of dollars going to serve their interests.
That money needs to be used to solve problems here in the U.S., and create more jobs. Not fund what boils down to a religious war.

 | Seraph (9) 10/06/2004 | This would be one of the dumbest mistakes imagineable. I hope it never, ever comes to this, because I honestly believe that our fates are intertwined. America is considered to be Israel's guardian-ally...that is, without our protection, the nation would more than likely be doomed and be destroyed by its neighbors. And if Israel ever fell...well, I don't even want to picture what would happen.

 | CapAnson (1) 09/17/2004 | A real bad idea... do you think the Arabs will magically be our friends and like us if we do this? And we'll all live together, Americans and Arabs in a candy cane house with a gingerbread roof and laugh at the poor jews outside getting overrun and slaughtered by our new Muslim friends!

 | jaywilton (29) 06/23/2004 | Usually, the reasons for not severing ties with Israel have to do with common values, such as democracy. But that's too complex for today's obvious realities in the region surrounding Israel, which have more to do with insanity-preprimitive hatred of America and Jews in general, and blatant evil-beheading as the national past time.

 | abichara (63) 10/11/2003 | No, I believe that it is in our long term interests to see to the survival of Israel. If we do sever ties with Israel, the entire region will break out in violence. The Arabs will take that as a green light from the Americans to invade Israel. And the Jews are not going to give up without a bloody fight either. This isn't an option because they are a lynchpin for regional peace in the region. Plus it also helps that they are strong allies of the US.

 | neolex (0) 09/25/2003 | Like it or not, there is a war going on. This war is between Arab world, and civilized world. This war is directed by wealthy Arab oil magnates who do not want their people revolting against them because although Arab countries have the richest deposits of oil, all their people live in poverty. The sheiks direct anger of ordinary Arabs away from themselves and onto the rest of the worls.
Israel is on the forefront of this war. If it falls, Europe will come next. Then maybe women wont be able to walk on the streets without wearing Paranja in Paris.

 | StanUzbeck (16) 09/15/2003 | This would be a good idea. Israel is the main cause of destabilization in the middle east. If we cut off aid to Israel, they will soon cease to exist as the country they are today, and the focus of most of the terrorism in the region would evaporate. They've been a little too arrogant and belligerent ever since they declared independence, and it would serve them right if our 3 billion dollars a year were suddenly cut off.

 | Moosekarloff (19) 06/26/2003 | This would be a great idea, although the cowards in Washington beholden to a small number of very vocal and vociferous Jews would never consider such an idea. This country's blind, unquestioning allegiance to Israel is perhaps the main cause of unrest in the Middle East, and undoubtedly the strongest cause of the hatred in the Arab world directed toward the U.S. Israel has absolutely no strategic importance to us, is not a significant trading partner, has no ability to come to our aid in the event of crisis, and doesn't even have any oil. As each and every American has become a target of Islamic terrorism, in large part, because of U.S. unwavering support of this dump of a country, Israel has actually become a total liability to us. For the sake of the suspect religious teachings of a few million people (i.e., that bogus and retarded assertion of being "The Chosen People" with a God-given right to a homeland in Palestine at the exclusion of anyone else), the rest of the world is being held hostage, is being compromised heavily in terms of security, and this should no longer be tolerated. Why should 5 billion non-Jews be at risk for the sake of the faith of 3-5 million people? Seems like a big price for everybody else to pay with absolutely no benefit coming in return. This is one of the true dangers of mixing religion with foreign policy, for setting up a country as a theocracy: rightwingers, take note. In fact, the only positive attribute of Israel is that it's a major player in the bikini industry. Perhaps if these troublemaking Zionist warmongers didn't have the goon presence of the U.S. over their shoulder, like a punk in the schoolyard protected by some thug, they wouldn't be so obdurate, unflagging in their unreasonable demands, confrontational, provocative and arrogant. Maybe finally some progress would be made in the peace process, although most Israelis might be actually opposed to this. If peace is achieved, the Zionist Quest comes to an end, and the Zionist Quest is the raison d'etre for these perennial instigators. With the Zionist Quest over and done with, these creeps wouldn't have any further justification for their existence, so they're not really interested in ending the hostilities, irrespective of what they might say otherwise. I also am quite uncomfortable with the fact that such a small and insignificant country like Israeli, fueled by dubious motivations, commands such a prominent place on the world's political stage. Methinks these people should be reminded that in the Grand Scheme of Things, they're not very important at all. But then again, that would bruise their oversized egos, and Lord knows no one would want to do that out of fear of being called anti-Semitic. In essence, this would just be citing reality, and Israel has no interest in that commodity. So, if the U.S. cut Israeli adrift, come what may, the world would be a better and safer place in which to live. Don't kid yourself.

 | tahnee18 (0) 04/27/2003 | The best idea I have ever heard, why did we not do this back in 1948. The ties is the source of hatred for America and the reason that al qaeda exists. Why are we trying to disarm other countries while we are supplying the israelis with weapons. No more of our hard earn tax dollars should go to supporting terrorism.
While we are boycotting Arafat we should boycott sharon as well, they both support violence against civilians.

 | twinmom101 (33) 04/25/2003 | Even if you don't agree with this, most Middle Easterners will say this is their biggest beef with the US. Israel is a money drain, a security hazard and a bully in its own right. I had a lot more respect for Israel when Rabin was in power. Sharon is a power and land hungry jerk. Let's see how much of a hotshot he is when he doesn't have dollars to back up his criminal treatment of Palestinians. Defending his country? Yeah right. Since when is razing refugee camps and killing children with tanks defending a country?

 | Redoedo (41) 04/22/2003 | This is a foolhardy idea which would in the long run pose a threat to world peace. I do not support the establishment of a Palestinian state under a terrorist regime such as Arafats. If we cut off all aid to Israel and allowed Arafat to take over the Holy Lands, not only would he pose a threat to his own people, but he would pose a threat to U.S. national security.

Why does America support Israel?
There is no economic reason to support Israel...
In fact, support of Israel is an endless one way money pit fiasco.
There is no military reason to support Israel...
In fact, support of Israel is leading our great country into a world war and placing our service men and women in grave DANGER.
There is no oil reason to support Israel...
In fact, support of Israel has threatened our oil supply.
There is no Christian reason to support Israel...
In fact, support of Israel places Christian missionaries in Israeli prisons for doing no more than spreading the WORD of GOD (It's a crime to proselytize there). There's no moral reason to support Israel... In fact, support of Israel hurts our integrity for it places us on the side of oppressors... There's no American reason to support Israel... In fact, support of Israel goes against the fundamental concepts for which this nation stands, not to support religious or racial bigotry. If we support their discrimination, then wasn't the sanctions against South Africa hypocritical? We give Israel $10 million dollars a day, everyday of every year. And what do we get in return... Nothing but trouble!!! With that money we could build much needed brand new schools every single day in urban and rural areas, 365 per year. That would be a far greater investment for America than simply giving it away to a bigoted colony of Hebrews so that they can kill their neighbors and exclude others.
So, despite the facts, most Christian Americans blindly support Israel to their own detriment. So, the question becomes why? Why will Americans support an Anti-Christian, Un-American bigoted colony of racist Jews at their own expense?
For over fifty years a Zionist controlled media has been brainwashing Americans into accepting, without question, the unconditional support of Israel. It's time we woke up from our trance before we are sucked into a war for them. File your conscientious Objector Status forms NOW!!!

 | Lord of the Waves (0) 04/27/2002 | Israel is very poorly located. they always drag us into trouble. If we allied with the muslims it would not only create major peace, but we wouldnt waste so many resources defending these antagonistic israeli's. OR we could relocate Israel which would have a similar, less decisive effect.

 | CastleBee (85) 04/19/2002 | Why? Because the Palestinians want us to? Should we then begin to consult them on other ties we may have? Do you suppose they’re offended by the fact that we have allies in Britain too? What a shame. This is not the time to wimp out on Israel or any other country that has called us a friend and ally. I’m afraid that would be a very sad and tragic mistake.
