I think that, even though the company apparently has financial problems, they still strive to service the customer. As the case of the store in South Lyon, Mi. I came in the store looking to buy a table and chair set for our new home. I saw a sign, but didn't see any in stock. I then approached the manager Ryan, and inquired about the set. He very enthusiastically stated that they had more in the back, and he would be more than happy to get it for me. I wasn't exactly sure if I was going to buy it, and when he brought it out, I asked if I could look at all the parts first, before purchasing it. He said it was no problem, and proceeded to open the large box and show me all the parts and pieces, which appeared to be in good shape. I stated that I would buy it, and he personally (didn't pawn it off on another employee) carted it up to the front service counter, where he had the clerk at the desk ring it up (didn't have to wait in line). He then took it out for me, loaded it up in my truck, and asked if there was anything else he could help me with. It was truly a great experience, knowing store management cares about its customers. Farmer Jack will always be my supermarket of choice. (By the way, the outdoor set is working great for our yard!)

Farmer Jack's managers think the customers care about the freshness of the food so much so that they're willing to wait forever in line because the store's too cheap to give employees hours to do their jobs. They cast a limit of 28 hours to do a job and if you help a customer who asks a question or wants something when its time to leave the store management write the employee up and docks them for time over. The customers are not number 1 28 hours and that's it not 28 hours and 5 minutes that's number 1. I used to have them page me on the pa system telling me to leave when I went to my locker to get my coat...I was a newcomer making all of 7 bucks an hour so the 5 minutes may have cost them a quarter at most.

Farmer Jack has some of the freshest foods all around. That's why it's my first supermarket choice.

I too work at Farmer Jack and I like it. I make reasonable pay which I use to help pay for college. Plus I have a friendly boss. I admit some days there's chaos, but there are more good days than bad. I guess it depends on what location you work at.

Since their makeover, I think Farmer Jack is the best grocery chain in Michigan! A few qualites I like about them are their low prices, fresh and tender meats and seafoods, friendly and helpful service, modernized stores, great customer service and their involvement in communities where they conduct business.I would also say that Farmer Jack is the most improved grocer.Plus, with the introduction of the no frills Food Basics stores to the Detroit Area by Farmer Jack has made it a even better store in my opinion. That's why our family has exclusively start shopping only at Farmer Jack and Food Basics for our groceries and I would advise others to do the same.

I agree with sweetie1977.Iwork at a Farmer Jack and the employers are miserly with hours. They expect 8hours work in 4 to 6 hours. We are overworked and yes sometimes we find it hard to smile.Iused to look forward to coming to work. Now I just dread it.I won't even shop at Farmer Jacks. They already took 10% of my pay and 22 of my hours. They aren't getting anymore of my pay!!!

Farmer Jack, a great part of the A&P family of supermarkets is a great place for quality prepared foods, fresh produce, great selection and the finest Eight O'clock coffee. When I am traveling I go out of my way to shop at Farmer Jack. My kind of grocery store and more.

The Farmer Jack store in Orchard Center, Holland, Ohio is substandard. Although the store is clean, customer service is horrible. While attempting to get cash from the ATM, the machine malfunctioned, shorting us $20. When we informed management, the first response was basically sucks to be you, not our problem. Upon further pressing them for assistance, the store manager said she would take our number and call the ATM bank and inform them of the problem and they would call us. 6 hours later and still no phone call!

I enjoy shopping at Farmer Jack because of their fresh food and many varieties. Not to mention their friendly workers. Of course not all locations give their 100%, but that's no reason to give up on the entire company. I've been in a couple of bad Walmart's but I dont stop shopping at all of them. Folks stop being so critical.

I lived, and shopped at the store in Dearborn Heights michigan. I bought a DVD player there thinking since its $40, its a good buy. After moving and finding that I'd rather needed the money more than the DVD player, I called to find out about returning it. The manager stated; Icannot return a $40 item without a recipt. I explained to her that I had just moved, and that would be difficult to find; The manager reitterated her statement, I promply hung up. Be Ware! they low ball stores have no customer savy, if they were smart they would return it just for the public relations part. Now they have lost me as a customer for life, and will tell all my friends and family about this to prevent them from shopping in a place like this.

The store near me (in Canton, Mi) has terrible management. The store is regularly out of milk. They advertise things on sale, but their shelves are bear. Just today I went to buy a lemon, guess what they were out of lemons. When has a grocery store ever been out of lemons???....this is the worst run grocery store I've ever seen

I would have to agree with others by saying that Farmer Jack operates great supermarkets compared to other chains. I also enjoy the fresh food at low prices they offer. Plus all the other services or frills they offer. They are definetly my #1 supermarket of choice.

I think farmer Jack has gone very very downhill in the past year. I have 3 Farmer jacks near my house and will not shop at any of them. One store has no employes, (I have talked to some, this is not because do not want to work. but because farmer jack is to cheap to give employees hours) The store shelves are always bare, there is 1 cashier all day long, and store is filthy. Another store near me I have never once been into without getting overcharged for something and haveing to go back for a price change, and waste my time waiting at the service desk, only to find very rude employees. And the 3rd store near me, I would barley say is mediocer. It is always dirty, and has few employes, and is always out of sale items. I no longer spend any money at farmer Jack. I would much rather go to any other grocery store. I hope they will do more store closeings, and eventually will shut down.

Farmer Jack has really delivered on its advertising promise. I have been in other area food markets and I believe Farmer Jack is the best all around place to shop.
