 | Nickelle (0) 07/21/2008 | I have had really bad acne since I was in 6th grade on my fore head. So i went to the doctors and they prescribed me DUAC topical gel. I used it for a month and it had cleared up the acne on my fore head. but after 2 months it stopped working for me. so I had stopped using it for 2 years now. and my acne is much worse. now its everywhere on my face. some on my cheeks, chin, forehead. so I am now 14 1/2 going to highschool and am starting to use it again. If you are someone who has had your face stinging, red or is irritated then I will advise to you to use a face wash that is light. like a facial bar or something. also you can wash your face once a day if it is dry and at night time just rinse it really good with warm water and dry well.. then put on the gel. my face has never been irritated. its only been dry and a little pink. but goodluck!! I hope this helped a little. and if this is not working for you and you have just started using this,.. use it for atleast 2 months .. it takes a while to see improvement

 | Emnilegna (0) 07/12/2008 | i am a 28 yr. old brownskin female who suffered from moderate to severe acne on my face, neck, chest, back, n arms. i suffered from this for 16yrs. at age 25 i decided no more OTC drugs or proActive...i've tried prescribed medicine from oral drugs to topical gels such as differin, accutane, tazorac, mycin, etc. i even tried natural remedies that did not work n trust me i tried them all n gave them time to work because u cant judge from just 1 day or 1 week...1mth n beyond results should occur slowly but surely...several doctors n dermatologist later i was prescribed duac n tretnoin...the miracle begin for me n about a mth. n brought tears bcuz i discovered confidence and was able to look at people in there eyes w/out thinking "i know there staring at my pimples and scars." My self confidence level went from 1 to 10 within 2 mths. I never smiled so much in my life. I used the tretinoin at night b4 i went to bed and the duac in the morning b4 i started my day. i washed my face with a oil free, soap free, non pore clogger cleanser and followed w/ the medication. I did use a oil free moisterizer when needed but it wasn't need often bcuz the duac has it's own moisterizers in it. Some burning did accur from the tretinoin because I failed to wait 20min after washing my face to put it on so that was my fault for not following direction/instructions. I had no negative reaction to the duac. Ive always kept it in the refrigerator to secure its potency and yes it does last longer than 2mths and works like it did the day u opened it. 3 years later at age now age 28 i have clearer skin, scar and pimple free. The only reason i gave 4 stars instead of 5 bcuz these are treatments not cures...there aren't any cures at least that i'm aware of and so occassionally i may get a minor breakout or pimple which is totally fine w/ me. people fail to realize that this condition is not all about beauty the scarring or cosmetic reasons. this condition causes lack of self confidence and self worth also emotional damage which leads to one being anti-social and blocked off from the world. Acne should be the least of our worries in our tragic yet beautiful lives.

 | georgie94 (0) 07/09/2008 | ok ,,
yhoo guys are not alone :)
im 13 and ive had acne sibce i was about 9 ,,
im @ high school and i were alot of foundation to cover up my spots . i feel very down and insecure about my face and its got to a stage were i cant even look and one in the eye because i feel that they are lookin at me. i feel like im the only one with this problem and feel very alone but after reading all these comments , i feel slightly better because i no im not the only one that suffers from this terribe condition.
i have been to the doctors many time and each one has pescribed me with tablets and a different topical cream. i gave up on the tabets because i found it extremely hard to take them. however the duac cream they desrcibed me has been the only thing that has worked for me.
i washed my face with body shop face wash and applied the duac. i woke up in the morning OF SCHOOL with a bright red ichy face. i was horrified that i had to go to school lookin like i sat on the sun for to days. a day after my skin was quit dry but my spots had vanished [ not all ov them but most ] i was pleased. now i put the duac on as soon as i get home from school then wash of before i go to bed then i applie mosteriser. my skin is looking great , it just takes your skin a while to get used to it .
KEEP THE CREAM IN THE FRIDGE OVA WISE IT WILL GO OF AND MAKE IT WORSE - IT SAYS SO ON THE BACK .
hope this is any help

 | fruitloop42 (0) 06/27/2008 | I have had mild to bad acne since i was in sixth grade. my acne was the reason i started wearing makeup. i had tried everything. i was using proactive for a while, with absolutly no improvement. i had almost given up, when my cousin, who was working for a dermatoligist, gave me some little trials of duac. at the time, i was on a different prescription acne gel (i cant remember what it was called, but it did nothing for my skin) so i had nothing left but to try this new duac gel. so, before bed, i washed my face with some regular mild soap (you cant really use a soap or face wash with duac, it doesnt increase results, just decreases them) and applied duac. the next morning i was shocked. my face was much clearer than it had been in a while (acne wasnt completely gone, but it was like magic) so i was hooked. i used up all my trials and had my doctor swich my prescription. i use duac before i go to bed at night, and although i wear makeup during the day (and st ives face lotion, i have dry skin, too) my face hasnt ever looked better. ive been using duac for a while and nothing works quite like it. i will admit, im a picker, but right after i pop, i wash my face and put on duac. works like a charm:)

 | lauren1994x (0) 06/23/2008 | Im only 13 and have been through almost every skin condition there is :( I've had a breakout, acne, dry-skin, greasy skin, blemish, pretty much all there is, roughly ( obviously not into detail ). I've got through the breakout, acne, dry skin, blemish + now I'm stuck with greasy/red/imflammed skin. I've had an acidic roll-on liquid for my skin, about 5 months ago from the doctor. It started great and my skin was baby-soft & even toned. But after about 3 weeks, i started waking up in the morning with reddish skin again. Then slowly it started going back to what it was before. Then it got worse than it started out as. So i went back to the doctor and got referred to Duac Topical Gel. It started brilliant, I felt confident and my skin got alot better, i saw a vast improvement. I kept it in the fridge for along time ( only to find out I wasn't supposed to ) and noticed after about 2 weeks my skin went extremely downhill, and back to how it was before - worse even. So i stored it in a cupboard, warmer environment. For about 5 days then, my skin went very good. Then AGAIN it went very bad. What it is, I wake up in the morning with very good, almost perfectly even-toned skin, but as the day gets on, it goes greasy, red & very inflammed. I drink plenty of water, fairly healthy diet, and dont touch my skin much. My skin is fine some mornings, but I get days, where the pores look...black even and big & open. ( I wash my face with soap and water every morning & night.) Weirdly, my skin feels fine, it feels smooth and even, but its appearance is awful. Also I dont wear make-up. If you have any idea what the problem is, PLEASE could you e-mail me on lauu-ox@hotmail.com , thanks very much.

 | 223366 (0) 05/29/2008 | After reading so many comments on how duac does not work....it would make anyone skeptical to try it. I have also been on many products throughout my teens. I haven't used any dermatoligist reccommended products for about four years prior to using duac. I am now 27. I have noticed my skin less blochy and my pimples seem to be going away over night. Its working for me...

 | Plwise (0) 05/21/2008 | I have rosacea acne of which has been getting worse lately. The doc put me on duac cream, and minocyline pills. I use duac on my face for the first time two days ago. Just one application and my face is still beat red, puffy, itching horribly, stinging, and hot to the touch.Even my lips are puffy! I had some bad pimples just below my jaw line, and the duac cause all these symptoms to spread to the bottom of my neck! By what I am reading here, it seems that some people can use this product and some cannot. Obviously I am one of the unlucky ones that cannot. I am afraid to use it again. And yes it is very expensive. I wish I could find something that would work :(

 | alwaysCLEAR (0) 05/17/2008 | When i first started using duac, i would wake up in the morning with what looked and felt like red, sunburnt raw skin. It was quite painful, but i was determined to get the contiuous white-headed spots which were always spreading and mulitplying across my cheeks away for good. I talked to a friend who also have been prescribed with duac and she confirmed similar reactions to the gel, yet we concluded the daily face wash and perhaps moisturisers we were using were adding to the irritation. At the time i was using a clearasill 3-in wash with microbeads. It was strong and always left my skin tingling after use, so when i cut it out the duac results appeared withing 1-2 weeks. Keeping it stored in the fridge over the first couple of days DOES HELP. its cooler when you apply so if your skin is red, it eases it slightly. Also if your skin in DRY, but still spotty, sometimes i mix hyrdrocortosone and duac together and rub that over the infected area and it helps alot! Use at night!!

 | fgtyiy (0) 05/01/2008 | i have only used duac for two days, the first morning lots of redness and told to use only were needed, the next morning bright red like severe sunburn and ichy and sore, and the next morning (did not use anymore) puffed up like a balloon around my eyes, look like black eyes,my face is numb, stiff, itchy, red, sore and very swollen and my skin is rough and dry,and i wont be using it again.I was told is was ok for mild acne but was not prepared for this,I would not recomend unless severe and would test on a tiny area first.

 | xoxojkluio (0) 04/03/2008 | I just applied Duac an hour after a shower. Instantly my face began getting hot, kind of like what happens when I apply tee tree oil for acne, but it was more of a stinging hot than a relaxing hot like the tee tree oil. Now, after an hour, my skin feels a lot better. I think Duac will work for me, but I'll have wait a few weeks to see the results.

 | silvervelvet (0) 04/02/2008 | I have adult acne and am in my 30's. I just picked up my prescription for Duac and Minocin. The German pharmacist said to refridgerate the Duac. Also, the doc said to just use it once a day on my moderate/severe acne. I spread a thin layer on last night expecting to be a large puffball in the AM but so far, everything is OK. No new zits, which is an accomplishment. The others look like they're healing faster and the cystic ones are shrinking and dont hurt anymore. I'll write again this weekend to give a better review. So far, so good.

 | HamHam (0) 04/02/2008 | Im 29 and start suffering from moderate to severe cystic acne for about 2 years due to stress. I tried 2 times with Duac and I got wonderful results starting with my 2nd try. I have to emphasis that using a gentle face wash, moisturizer & sunscreen with Duac treatment is very important.
My derm recommend me to use CeraVe (from CVS) moisturizer before putting on Duac and I started to see great results the 3rd week into use. I did get red and burning the first week I started using it, I guess it just take some time for the skin to get use to it. I tried retin-A, OTC acne med/wash, oral antibiotics, Ziana, Klaron in the past. Duac is by far the best.

 | asdf1234 (0) 03/24/2008 | I have always had clear skin, until I turned 25. When I was 25 my sister gave me some samples of duac, I used it when I saw something forming, just a dap on the spot over night, by morning, that spot was usually clear, for sure by the next day!! It was great! Then, two years later, I ran out of the duac samples. Then settled for Benzolcine(SP?) RX from the doctor, that stuff didn't work at all even though it has EXACTLY the same ingredients!?!?! The Benzolcine dried out my face bad and I broke out soooo bad too. So, I went to the doctor and only settled for the Duac gel RX. And I will never try something else again. This stuff is perfect for me. Again, as soon as I feel or see alittle something, I dap it before bed time, and it's usually gone by morning. After getting back to Duac, I had to use it morning and night. But, after a few weeks, now just at night again, like before. I do have sensitive skin too, but for some reason, duac doesn't dry it out at all.

 | erin2852 (0) 03/11/2008 | I have been using Duac Topical Gel for about a year and a half and love it. I will still get a pimpple or two here and there (once a month like other things) but it has helped my face dramatically. I have extremely irish sensitive skin and had no reaction. I use dove sensitive skin bar for my face and this, and a think oil of olay moisturizer. However, I went to the Derm. last week and she prescribed me something new saying " duac won't be available or it hard to get" but woul not really explain why... I am trying to find out if there are any serious side effects to it. But as of right nwo I am still using it.

 | sueroo (0) 03/10/2008 | I used this cream for the first time yesterday and I swear its the worst thing I ever did. Within a matter of hours my skin was bright red, hot and blotchy all over my face. I was in absolute agony and you can imagine the panick I went through. I left it and left it hoping things might improve but they only got worse, I had to go to A&E and the doctor gave me some anti-allergy tablets, 24 hours later and my skin is still red and feels dry and hot, I just hope its not done any permenant damage. I would definately NOT recommend this product to anyone, I feel its dangerous and could really damage someone like it did me - I'd advise anyone to seriously think before using this product. I would rather have a few spots than damage my skin in such a way using this cream.

 | nunyab (0) 03/07/2008 | I am 27 with not a lot of facial acne, but I get bad breakouts (enough to leave scabs) on my back with some more acne on my chest, arms and back of my neck. I went to the derm. on Monday and he perscribed me with solodyn (pill) once a day, duac and differin. On Thursday morning I noticed my face was red like a sunburn and itched like CRAZY. I actually took some bendryl and kept an ice pack handy, thinking I was having an allergic reaction. Today my face is still red and my cheeks and chin are swollen and still feels sunburnt - but not like yesterday. I quit using both of the creams right now until my face gets better, but I am still taking my solodyn everyday. After reading this forum, I am feeling more confident that it is the duac making my face horrible and not the differin.

 | Missanna (0) 12/28/2007 | I started using this on December 10 th, 18 days ago. I started to break out on my chin but it did clear up my upper lip. It cleared out my temples and i have mixed results with my cheeks. My skin is dry now, but it does not peel as badly as it did with BP back in March. My cheeks are pink now, as with the red that was before. I'm honestly trying to stay positive, because I'm kind of losing hope. I see other ppl telling to be patient, so I will. It's only 18 days, let's see results in 2 months.

give it time.

 | Marlinela (0) 12/03/2007 | Just started this cream 3 days ago. I read all the comments here and I am tempted to give up. My skin is always been clear, but every now and then I get some power breakouts. My theory is that it has to do with hormonal changes in the body rather than cosmetic products. Anyway, the pimples I have now are mostly on my cheeks and they are deep in the tisue that I don't think that they will ever collect so I can pop them. They are red and look like bumps right in the middle of my cheek. I hate having to cover them carefully with make up every morning, but I don't want to look scary Mary when I get out of the house. Plus, my skin color is very pale anyway, so these red spots really stand out. Now that I started using this cream and I am on my third day using it twice a day, then supplimenting with Retin-A at night, my cheeks feel like they are up in flames and they are quite red. I don't mind the redness, since I don't have much color in my face, it makes me look a bit cheeky:) But the soreness and oh..the itching..is quite unberable. However, I will try to stick with it, for at least 2 weeks, maybe use less quantitiy or cut to once a day when the irritation gets too bad. Since they say that it contains some sort of antibiotics, I am thinking that it would only be logical to give it at least 2 weeks to kill the bacteria (like you would with any antibiotic, right?:) I'll write more about the progress in a week. Good luck to you all, and thank you for reading!

 | chickib (0) 11/25/2007 | i been using duac for about 2 months now. so far i love th results. i
have not had a new break out in about 2 weeks, my skin is still rather
dry though. i have been washing by face with cetaphil (as prescribed by
my dr.). i love duac becuase it does not make your skin geasy and i can
wear it under make up. i would totally recommend duac to any any acne
suffers. my dr just recently prescibed retin a to be. i have been using
it now for 3 days. no differences yet. my face does seem a little more
dryer. i did read up on retin a .i was extremely nervous to start it.
becuase it does warn you that your skin my get worse. but hey if ive
had acne for this long whats another six weeks. to have beautiful clear
smooth skin. canthurt to try. ill let you know how i make out. my next
derm appt is in 3 months. the dr did advise me to give it 2 months to
see results.

 | ar111 (0) 11/12/2007 | im on Duac just once a day, in the evening and have been on it for a few months now. When I first started it took ages to start being effective. Once it had started to work I was fairly pleased. It got rid of my spots but my skin is really dry and skin tone is really uneven. Plus the red marks that were left by the spots I had before still havent gone and its been like 8 months!! I dunno if this is the best its gonna get or what... but I used to be on Zynerit which was amazing for about a year. I had skin like airbrushed models in adverts! But after a year it began to stop working... the doctor said the bacteria had built up an antibiotic resistance or somthing... but yeah duac never seemed to stop it completely. I dont know if anyone else has experienced this cos it seems really wierd but yeah hope this is useful

 | j103087 (0) 11/08/2007 | im on duac twice a day, retin-a micro before bed, and erythromycin. the first 4 weeks or so sucked, and my acne just got worse, but it has been clearing ever since. Duac is awesome and its always been very gentle for me. i recommend that you dont start it unless you have the patience to wait about a month. i started with 3 or so new pimples a day, now i have none. my skin was oily and not very even, but the retin-a helps with that. hope this helps

 | soresorrow (0) 09/28/2007 | I have only just started using duac last night. During the night I woke up and have had no sleep as my face is extremely sore and warm and itchy. Today my face is swollen and extremely red and puffy and this discomfort is not worth it, I would rather go back to having my skin before I put this on than being in such pain, it really hurts. Ii have also had terrible reactions with panoxyl. I guess I have become extremely sensitive to these creams, so I don't know what to do now. I don't know whether to wait and put a tiny bit on tomorrow if this has calmed down as my doctor said to keep with it and after two weeks irritation should go. But I wouldn't call this irritation, I call this severe reaction, I've been on so many creams for four years and right now I just feel like giving up.

 | djb (0) 09/27/2007 | I was prescribed Duac after normal cleansers failed control my acne. I used it once and the next morning my face was bright red, burning, itchy, bumpy and extremely irritated. Everything made it worse. Cold washers, hydrocortisone creams, moisturisers all made it flare up worse. After 3 days, it now looks like a bad sunburn and I finally feel like I can go out in public again without scaring people. I was told to wait until my skin calmed down before trying it again. There is no way I will ever try this cream again...

 | tots (0) 09/20/2007 | Seemed to help straight away...possibly hormones chilled out a bit so my skin cleared up a little....still got one or two little ones popping up....dries my skin out pretty bad but i've not been using it very long and my doctor says I should go easy on it if that happens and gradually build up how much I use it. I think basically, too much has a very bad affect. Use it sparingly, once a day. Fingers crossed

 | claretrv (0) 09/18/2007 | Ive been on duac cream for two months now, it's been brilliant. My shiny oily forhead has dried up completely and my non stop little annoying white heads have stopped (i was getting a least five a day for the last 6 month after my dianette was stopped). I'm 31 and have been on everything for acne since i was 14 including two rounds of roaccutane. I wish i was given this in my teans. The pharmacist adviced me to store it in the fridge which the leaflet doesn't, but it seems to work. My skin is great or the fact that ive been using it now for 8 weeks. Its more a preventer cream than a healer i'd say. I found that when spots are in their fullest glory it doesnt work as good. You also have to beware of the short shelf life of it, after about 5 weeks my first tube of cream stopped working but with my second being kept in the fridge after my recent advice i.m hopping it lasts the recommended two months. It did cause some spots where i don't get them usually cheeks but as soon as i realised the cream was the cause i stoped using it in that part of my face and they went away!!strange other wise brilliant for mild white head oily acne.

 | borntorun229 (0) 07/13/2007 | In my opinion, this stuff is horrible. I have had moderate to severe acne for a couple of years now, and not much has seemed to work. I dont know if its the duac alone, or the combination of the other topical with it, but my acne has gotten worse. Not only does duac make my face dry and red, it seems to almost plaster the acne on permanently. Acne has come up in places where it ususally wasnt too bad, and the duac seems to get rid of the bumps, but not the redness. If your dermatologist gives this to you i strongly reccomend you dont use it.

 | Mejo (0) 06/08/2007 | This stuff is poison for me. I used it once for cystic acne on my chin, and the next morning my chin was all swollen up, red and itchy with a rash that turned into sores and took weeks to go away entirely. I also had a huge swelling under one eye that was red and itchy. All the information on Duac says that an allergic reaction is highly unlikely.
About 6 months later (3 weeks ago), my chin was again badly broken out and, in desperation, I used the Duac again. I mean, the information said no probable allergic reaction, so I guess I kind of forgot how bad it was and thought maybe it wasn't the Duac. And I was desperate, so I just put it on the bumps. It happened again, causing a rash that turned into about 15 sores that won't go away. I just got some erythomicin gel, which I used last night, and my chin looks 10 times better this morning.
Duac is actually very dangerous for me. I had to give it one star to rate it, but I really think it's dangerous for some people, so it should have negative stars. I actually never went back to the perfunctory dermatologist who gave it to me, because I now have bad feelings towards her.

 | countmacula (0) 04/02/2007 | This stuff cleared me up totally after seven weeks of religious application. There did not seem to be much benefit before six weeks, I almost gave up a few times. It's been about 2.5 weeks now without a blemish. I'm not sure if this is coincidence but around the time when it started working I moved from storing it in my bathroom to storing it in my bedroom. My prescription information pamphlet said to do so and I didn't read it until about six weeks in. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that it took so long to work and it dries my face out pretty bad. One way or another, it's worth a shot.

 | Nezza (0) 03/28/2007 | This is the only thing that has completely cleared up my spots in over 12 years of antibiotics - including Roacutane. Nothing else worked, even with Benzamycin I had occasional painful outbreaks. The downside is that I've been really ill since I started taking it - really dodgy stomach, constant cramps in my gut, constant nausea and occasional vomitting, passing mucus and blood, and headaches. My doctor didn't believe it was the cause but I've now tried coming off it twice for a week at a time and the symptoms have gone each time - but my skin gets bad again after only a week. Has anyone else experienced these side effects?

 | Tina101 (0) 02/20/2007 | Im 16 and suffer from moderate to severe acne.i was given duac gel to help get rid of the acne once and for all but little did i know what the gel was actually doing to my skin.i began using the gel for about a week, and must admit that my acne seemed to be getting better on my face.sore red spots had reduced dramtically in size and new spots did seem to be forming.however,a week into my course my mother noticed little red spots appearing along my forehead and on my cheeks.i had not noticed these,as i was mainly focused on the spots disappearing.i kept a close eye on the little spots and i noticed a gradual increase as the weeks went by.i also noticed my skin had become darker in certain areas(around my lips and outer cheeks of my face.i have fair asian skin, and the dark patches had become very noticeable too.i stopped using the gel,and suprise suprise, the spots went after a week or so and my skin lightened gradually after i had stopped using the gel.a useless gel in my opinion.

 | SodaStereo123 (0) 02/09/2007 | I've been using Duac Topical Gel (Or Clindoxyl, as its sold in Argentina) for almost a year now, and I can say it's a great product.
My acne problem was moderate, not very serious, but by using this product alone it has completely dissapeared!
I woke up with a bit of red irritation in my face twice during this year, but in both times it was gone after an hour.
Provided that you use the product carefully, only apply it in the affected area, and in small quantities, it does not have any negative side effect and does wonders for your skin.

 | AnnaUK (0) 01/10/2007 | Ive suffered from painful red acne on my chin and excess grease for years. Im now 22 and got sick of it all. So im now on the antibiotic Tetralysal 300 (Lymecycline) and Duac Gel. I first tried the Duac on Sunday; I put it on the whole of my face as it's meant to control excess oil production. It is now Wednesday and since then the texture of my skin has gone very weird, its not exactly noticeable but under the light I can see my skin all over my face looks like fine orange peel- tiny bumps all over?! I dont know if this is like an allergic reaction or just an initial reaction and my skin will get used to it!? My skin feels tight. Since this ive only applied the Duac on my chin. Thankfully my acne has gone already, (im now left with red scaring) but my face feels pretty tight, a little itchy and I hope this strange texture goes away! Anyone had a similar experience?!

 | coffeechic (0) 01/01/2007 | Nothing else I used up to age of 30 worked until now! I just wish I had been told about it sooner.
I have no side effects what so ever using this gel. It's really great!

 | nomoreduac (0) 01/01/2007 | This medicine is mediocre! If you put too much out, you can't put it back! It is so messy! And I am confused about the refrig part...the pharmacists took it out of the refrig, do I have to put it in there too?? In addition, it's been very drying to my skin!! I told my dermatologist and he switched me to something called Benzaclin. He said all his patients are getting that now instead of Duac as Duac only works 1/2 the time. He said it's less sticky, more convenient and a lot less expensive!

 | louise82 (0) 12/04/2006 | I am on my third week of using Duac in the AM. My dermatologist prescribed it along with Doxycycline pills and Tretinoin in the PM. I am black with oily skin. I stopped taking the pills after the 4th day. I couldn't handle the nausea and felt that Duac and Tretinoin be just fine. I also use Cetaphil as a cleanser. Duac didn't irritate my skin or cause side effects but my skin isn't sensitive or dry. My skin is now smoother and the the pimples have subsided but not totally. I've had mild acne since 16 and it always scarred my face. I'm anxious to see where my skin will be in two months and hope to get a good fading cream for the scars later on.

 | giuditta (0) 11/26/2006 | Itried Duac for three days. I quickly had an adverse reaction. Redness and swollen face..even in the areas where I didn't apply the gel. I also had extreme itchiness. My acne is def. hormonal...I stopped using it and the pharmacy gave me a full refund. I'm resorting to getting a series of facials now. A more natural approach.
I don't recommend this to ANYONE with sensitive skin.

 | babystarr25 (0) 07/20/2006 | I've been using Duac for over a 1 1/2 years. It works great. My skin isn't oily looking, no white marks, and works great under my make-up. I have or had severe acne. I take minocyline 2x a day, duac in the morning w/olay moistureizer, and retin-a .01% gel at night. My skin is clear and if something seems like it wants to appear, it doesn't cause any scars like before. I love it.

 | jsbritts (0) 06/20/2006 | I too have very little acne but enough that it never goes away on certain areas of my face. I asked the dermatologist about it and I said SPECIFICALLY that I have very dry skin otherwise. He gave me Duac and Differin both to use, one in a.m. one in p.m. Differin made my face feel wonderful. The first day I used Duac, that night I got painful itchy dry, peeling spots below my mouth. They hurt so bad and are horribly dry and everything burns them. Don't count on me using Duac again.

 | dOnTbShYiBiTe (0) 01/14/2006 | This is my second time around using Duac. The Dermatologists also prescribed Elidel cream to put on before the application of the Duac, which helps calm the skin. I use the Elidel and Duac at night and in the morning I apply Olay face lotion and then the Duac, and I have no redness or itchy patches whatsoever. This has been successful for me.

 | seberly310 (0) 11/16/2005 | We were concerned with a few stubborn patches of light acne on our daughter's face, so we asked our MD. He prescribed Duac for her and she cautiously applied it over the course of the next week. On the morning of day six, she had some red patches develop on her face. By evening, she had a full red rash over her entire face, even where she hadn't applied the gel. By the next morning her face was so red and swollen that she couldn't open her eyes. We rushed her to the doctor, and have her on antihistamine and steroids to try to counter the reaction. She has remained in a horribly swelled and painful state for three days now. My advice for anyone who is considering this product is to use it as a LAST RESORT.

 | beenaroundtheblock (0) 11/02/2005 | I have been perscribed everything: Duac, retin A, clindamycin, plexion cloths, erycette, tretinoin (avita). I have many kinds of acne, not any in extreme cases though. For me, i found that Duac and Ery 2% anaseptic pads helped the best for cysists. The duac sometimes over irritated if used to much. i would end up with a red chin in contrast to my white face so you must be careful. however, it does help to cover the reddness of a zit of without causeing whitelines. the ery pads sometimes had quicker results of applied multiple times a day. When I go in the sun too much using sunscreen can make my shoulders and back break out terribly. the ery pads were a miracle, if spoted and treated before they really broke out, it would stop the cycle. for pores and scars, Retin-A is the way to go. i find that sometimes though it is more helpful to use only for a couple hours or so becuase when I sleep with it i feel like the oil in my skin counteracts the good effects. Clindamycin was helpful in the way that is is not as irritating as duac and also has antibiotics in the cream. Haven't used the avita long enough to know the full results.

 | xDianax (0) 10/27/2005 | I got Duac Topical Gel on Saturday because I have acne infection. My doctor also prescribed some antibiotics for me to take as well. Obviously the antibiotics is working quit well but it gave me some chest pains and i couldn't take deep breaths when i took 2 pills per day so i cut down to only 1 per day which is better. The Duac Topical Gel helped removed pimples but it also caused a few red, dry and itchy irritations around my face. I have the feeling its going to scar which i really don't want to happen. Its been about 1 1/2 weeks now and im still getting red, dry, itchy skin. Is it because Im applying too much?

 | jms709 (0) 10/01/2005 | I have been using Duac for a few days now. This product has not been bothering my skin in any way, however I think it is causing me some intestinal issues, which is one of the side effects ...as it says in the little brochure I got. I had high hopes for this one but I think I should call my doctor soon...

 | bobinutah (0) 09/05/2005 | Like reported by cdcutie on 8/22/03, I got a rash and little bumps after using Duac. My Derm. is treating it with Fluocinonide, MetroGel and Minocycline with no improvement. Anybody knows what this is and how to treat it?
