another update* I'm on a big La Cumbre kick right now. My theory that restaurants on touristy strips can't be as good as ones off the beaten path is in serious jeopardy. The key to La Cumbre is that they don't chop the meat up for your burrito until you order it - this keeps the meat juicier. Both the
Carne Asada and the
Carnitas are excellent here.
*update* Le Cumbre now has a thriving late night business. The other night I stood in line for about 30 minutes at 2:30AM to get a taco. Considering the only other easy late night option is the putrid Cable Car Pizza, it makes sense that folks should line up here. I know that Cancun is only three blocks away, but it's a stroll into Ganglandia at that hour.**
Le Cumbre's pretty damn good still - but they seem to keep pretty erratic hours over there. Also, the prime location at 16th and Valencia drives up the cost by about $2, I think. Carne Asada is quality there though....
