This was about as significant as horseracing can get in the US these days. The Breeder's Cup Classic has the largest purse in American horseracing, and outside of the Triple Crown races, its the one that is given the most coverage. The media always loves to publicize fillies racing against the colts, and Zenyatta's 13-0 record coming into this race made her story even bigger. She struggled out of the gate, but followed through with her usual late charge to the finish. It was a great finish, and showed why horseracing can be as exciting as any other sporting event.

Running a huge race from the back of the pack, Zenyatta took advantage of a slow pace and came between horses down the stretch, cut seven wide to the outside and burned down the leaders. In doing so she became the first filly to win the Classic, and puts herself in the lead for Horse of the Year honors.
