 | Robert Daily (0) 08/28/2003 | Ned is right! Why should smokers be targeted for these exorbitant tax rates and be treated like second-class citizens? Because we are in the minority and simply a convenient source of income for everyone else. Taxes? Yes. Ridiculous taxes? NO! How about we put special taxes on fast food at the same rates? It does after all, make us fat and create health issues.

 | wsujoel (0) 08/28/2003 | Our Gov was created to protect our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. I believe what ned is trying to do is take a stance on personal freedoms and personal responsibilities and the right to not be robbed by the organization that is supposed to be protecting us. The right to be able to live your life the way you want to live it as long as you arent infringing on another’s right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness... A life without having big brother tell you what morally is right or wrong...
Personally, I wish that ned would update his website with more information besides smoking. I wont be voting for Ned though but instead will vote for Jack Hickey simply because his website states one of the biggest problems we face..."The Government _ of the United States _ has become the United States Government" and it has to stop.

 | rawsonsj (0) 08/21/2003 | Everyone is focusing on the big taboo of smoking, what happens when your favorite vice is targeted? Where will you be then? It's popular to pick on the smokers because they are a minority, what's next? Beer? Hamburgers? Tacos?......

 | atwood (0) 08/20/2003 | All this guy seems to stand for is smoker's rights. What about my right to breath clean air? Do go out and not come back with hair and clothes that stink of smoke?
Smoking is a choice and an addiction, that imposes enormous health care costs on society. High cigarette taxes can help prevent people from taking up smoking and encourage people to stop smoking, and provide needed revenues to the state.
