I`m pretty forgiving when it comes to dog food, and I`ll recommend some dog foods that the dog food fanatics wont,if it meets the minimal criteria. But beneful is among the worst.Even the few veggies found in beneful are not enough to compensate for the overall poor contents. No meat content, sorbitol, artificial lake colors, corn gluten meal, etc.I saw an empty beneful bag in the dumpster the other day when I took the trash out.I thought of the poor dog being fed this stuff.

We started feeding our dog Beneful (Also came from Walmart) about a month ago. She has not been well ever since. her appetite is now almost non-existant, she has lost lots of weight, her third eye is showing, red eyes in general, today started vomiting yellow fluid( not clear but solid colored).

Of course we are very worried but all the other reviews have helped me to deal with this accordingly. It sounds like Beneful is the culprit. We cant afford expensive vet bills, and from what i read, i'm not sure it would really help.

Please pray for our "Emily". thanks.

I have a beautiful black lab who was on beneful for about 4 years. He is now 14. I had been buying it at Wal-Mart in the 14 pound bags, and soon after my dog developed these really bloodshot eyes with sagging eyelids. After medications failed to work, my vet recommended surgery to "tighten up the lids". I decided to experiment with his diet instead. I changed to Wellness For Seniors brand dog food and within 1 month everything was back to normal. I have heard that large quanities of Beneful sold at Walmart were contaminated with some sort of microbe. Looking back, I wouldn't buy any dog food at Walmart. My dog went through a lot of discomfort, me a lot of worry and it cost me alot more in the end that if I had fed him high quality food from the start.

DO NOT FEED YOU DOG BENEFUL!
My sweet baby is my life as my husband and I don't have children. She has been on beneful for about two years and 1 day after I opened a new bag she became severly ill. Just to name a few procedures she has had over the last week, 4 blood test, 2 sets of x-rays, barium series, ultrasound and 4 fluid IVs. We were about to take her for a scope and bio.

She is starting to turn a corner but not out of the woods yet and it got so bad we almost lost her. She lOst 12 lbs in less than 1 week and we almost had to put her on a feeding tube.

She had runny bloody stool, throwing up thick mucus and blood, foaming at the mouth and very much out of it! I had to lift her off the bed several times. Her breathing go so slow and faint I had to shake her to get her to breathe again.

I DON'T WANT ANYONE ELSE TO GO THROUGH THIS SO PLEASE DON'T FEED YOUR DOG BENEFUL! iT ISN'T WORTH IT.

I HAVE REPORTED IT TO BENEFUL.

The ingredients of this dog food are horrendous and it is amazing they are still making any profit off it! Besides having corn as the first ingredient which is one of the major allergens in dogs, it has meat by-products, and artificial colors and flavors. This is definitely not "human-grade" and it is one of the worst dog food brands on the market. I have seen dogs lose fur and develop hot spots when eating this food as well as other commercial grocery store brands

If you're lucky enough to have a dog with a cast-iron constitution, lucky you. Unfortunately, dogs with allergies and food sensitivities cannot use this food.

Spike, my 72 lb. Pit Bull/Lab mix, loved Beneful, but after a few weeks, began throwing up regularly, became listless, and his gums became unusually pale. Not only that, but he began scratching obsessively (and no, we do not have fleas or ticks).

I stopped feeding him Beneful and he is, after a week, starting to recover his old vim and vigor.

I suspect that the large amounts of grain products and food colorings in this product exacerbated allergies that had once been mild.

If a star wasn't required I wouldn't give this product even 1. You couldn't ask for a worse product with better marketing to trick unknowing pet owners into feeling good about feeding their pets garbage. I clean for a lady who has 2 dogs on this food and I can say the dogs are not impressive. They shed horribly, the chihuahua is sadly overweight for being 3yo, and the other one is very sensitive, throwing up all the time. This woman has no idea she is slowly killing these dogs. I printed out some info from dogfoodanalysis for her, but don't want to offend her, so I'm looking for a way to get it to her in a way she will recieve. I want to help these poor dogs, they are so unenergetic and unhealthy for such a young age.

Beneful is the single best marketed abysmal quality food on the market. Really. Clean, crisp, white bag. Colorful pictures of cuts of meat, fruits, and vegetables. The very name implies that the food is beneficial and healthy. The reality, however, is different, and the ingredient list tells a different story. The first five ingredients in Beneful Original Formula?

Ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, animal fat

Corn is an all but undigestible carbohydrate source. Dogs and other carnivores simply cant digest it. Hell, PEOPLE, designed to digest vegetables, can't properly digest corn. Dogs even less so. Also, corn is one of the top allergens for dogs, causing dry, itchy, flaky skin, ear infections, and other issues. And it's the primary ingredient in this food.

Chicken by-product meal is all parts of a chicken unfit for human consumption. Beaks, feathers, feet, bones, diseased carcasses, unformed eggs, etc. Not real meat, but meat production waste.

Corn gluten meal is a vegetable protein derived from one of the top allergens for dogs. Not only an allergen, but an undigestible, insoluble protein source.

Wheat is another nearly impossible to digest carbohydrate source, and another one of the top allergens in pet food.

And animal fat... is disgusting. They don't specify WHAT animal because the reality is this ingredient is rendered from roadkill. Yes, really.

So, does any of that sound beneficial?

This is a standard, corn-based, filler food. Everyone is welocme to feed what they want, but if you are going to feed corn based food, save a buck and go with Pedigree or Old Roy. Actually, the Ol Roy skin and coat isn't corn based but lamb meal based. It does have all the fillers the others do but in lower proportions. We feed a mixture of Bil-Jac and Natures Variety, 80lb Lab is satisifed with 1.75 cups a day, 75lb Pit 2cups a day, and the 55lb Pit is only 2yrs old so he gets 2.25 cups a day to keep him going strong. All are perfect weight, per the wholistic vet, and look awesome. Keep in mind that proper daily exercise is almost as important as the food, and grooming come sin a close third. Without all three in the correct balance, you CAN'T have a healthy dog!!!! God bless all who care enough to read these posts!!!!

I have a neighbor that left out a bag of Beneful on their porch. I noticed their were dead roaches all over the porch. I looked in the bag and the bag was full of dead roaches that had eaten the dog food. Anything that kills roaches is known as poison. And to the person that discovered that the dog food was bad and latter gave it to a friend. Please don't ever call me a friend. Even if you hated the person don't kill the dog.

DOG LOVER BE AWARE!!!! If you purchased Beneful the Healthy Skin and Coat kind with Salmon, Chicken and other stuff. Please take a look at the red/pink pieces (apparently salmon) stare very closely at that piece for 5 seconds and look at tiny little white dots moving on it. If you can't see them, then brake that piece in half and look inside and you will see things moving in it. The white dots are MITES!!!
I was giving my dog her meal and I saw one of the red pieces looked more pinkish, so I grab it and it almost broke as I picked it up. So I looked closely and I saw all those white things moving in it. I got very scared and I took my dog, the food and her poop to the vet at Petsmart for the vet to look at it. While I was waiting, it occurred to me to grab one of the same food bags from the shelf there and open it up to see if that food had the same white things in it. and guess what? it did!!! So I showed the vet's assistant my dogs food and the new bag and she went to the microscope and came back and said: those white things are "Mites". She actually invited me to see them on the microscope. Now when the vet saw the food under the microscope, he said that our dogs will fight this insects in their stomachs and nothing wrong will happen to them but since I have my dog on this food she has been very itchy around her mouth and no wonder why!
but that's not all, a couple of months ago I also noticed that every now and then I develop some small pimples around my mouth. Well, since my dog is like my baby, I let her give me kisses when I pet her. So today I did the math, and I'm pretty sure that since I changed her food from Royal Canine to Beneful, not only she has been scratching her face but mama is also having side effects.
Even though my vet said it is not dangerous, I just don't feel good about giving my dog some food with insects on it and you should do the same if you find that food to be infected.

most worthless junk ever. Feed your dog this, and you should be arrested for animal cruelty. Its designed for PEOPLE. Why the hell would anyone stuff food coloring in dog food and give it cute little shapes? Obviously so a human being can say "Oh look! This food looks like vegetables! It must be sooo healthy!" Furthermore, dogs are CARNIVORES and are NOT Omnivores, this means that they need meat, not a bunch of carrots. Over time, stuffing your dog full of food coloring, carrots, and parlsey will cause hardship on kidneys and greatly increase your dogs risk of kidney failure. Stop buying dog food just because it looks like a healthy plate of vegetables! Don't be so stupid. Love you dog....don't buy this JUNK

Well about 3 months ago my boyfriend and I got his dog Jinx (a husky mix) back from someone who didn't take real good care of her unfortunantly... they were feeding her crap dog food, I don't remember the brand, she was under weight and under nourished. I started her on beneful, she wouldn't even eat her other dog food when I did the whole mixing the foods ordeal. So she came back around all full of energy and very happy to be back with her original owner. A month later we added a new addition to the family A 2 month old Husky. A friend refurred me to switch to Canidae all stages, so I could feed them the same food and it was "good" for them... Needless to say BAD BAD BAD IDEA!!! I Switched from Beneful to Canidae... Both dogs got real bad diarrhea, which you know tends to be a normal surcumstance when intoducing a new food, what was wrong with that is it didn't go away.. 2 months later, our oldest Jinx who is about 6 years old, pretty much refused to eat it (when she would always finish her bowl before), she would nibble at it and take her about 2 days to finish a bowl, her diarrhea cleared up for the most part, Then I notcied today Echo our now 5 month old has explosive diarrhea, not good, so i did my homework and read horror stories of puppies and dogs having permanent damage, and dieing from that food, and having the exact same symptoms as my dogs, any who, So I went and bought another bag of beneful since well it worked well last time, and the dogs seem to like it a lot, I mixed the beneful with the Canidae and both bowls still had the canidae left at the bottom. So thats what they are getting untill I find something thats actually better! scary stuff, its supposed to be all natural pet food, why is it making hundreds upon hundreds of dogs sick all over the US? Be aware of Canidae PLEASE!! Beneful may not be the Most healthy food, but for some reason its 10x better than an all natural "super healthy" "great for your dog food" hmph. So hopefully in a few days I will see some improvment in my puppy and the dog, and Hope that I didn't do any permanent damage to our babies digestive tracts! they will be visiting the Vet next week, and If I can prove that it was the Canidae that made them sick, I will be raising hell. I already plan to go to the store I bought it from and do everything I can to make them aware of this food. expecially if I can prove that its the food thats doing this to my dogs, although there are already hundreds of people who have medical proof that it was the food.... I'm done with ranting about Canidae here off to their reveiw page I go with this. so Beneful = good Canidae = very very very BAD!! Wish me luck!

My dog always loves to eat Beneful. I have read most of the other reviews and would like to place a comment on them. I don't believe that it is fair to blame a food for what could already be an inherent medical problem with the dog. Like humans, dogs are also prone to medical issues that may arise during its lifetime. Yes, for any product in the world, there will always be humans or pets alike, that may be allergic or may develop negative affects. I think what is most important, is that the pet owner recognize and treat the problem before it gets worse instead of blaming the food for the pets entire care.

I have a female Great Dane (from the SPCA). The only thing she would eat at first was Pedigree, although she is allergic to the wheat. We tried switching her over, but she wouldn't eat anything else, even though I tried the 25%, 50%, 75% mix over a period of time. Once I got past 50%, she wouldn't eat it. We were told that the Wellness Fish and Sweet Potato would be good for the allergies (our vet) so we tried half and half. That helped, but Wellness kept going up and up on price, and I couldn't afford Wellness. I thought I'd try Beneful and it's better for our dog than the wellness. She loves the food mix (50-50 with Pedigree), she's much healthier now. To be blunt, her "poops" are much better as well. With just Pedigree and with Wellness, the "poops" were sorta runny and not very firm. Adding Beneful with the Pedigree, much firmer and she's more regular. I'm not a purist and I'm certainly not a breeder, just a dog lover. I figure the best "person" to know is the dog, and she loves her food mix, she's healthier, more energy, and "reminds" me morning and evening that it's time to eat. Can't ask for more than that... except the price is much easier on the pocket book than Wellness and it seems to be better for my Dane.

This food is scary. It has nothing but fillers, animal parks, and food coloring. It is junk food for dogs, and is bound to give them kidney and liver problems. Dog food should not be green and yellow - thats artificial. Look at this food scoring guide, I think Beneful is the lowest one. Its frightening. Why would you feed your dog the worst food out there? Beats me

My dog has almost died by eating this food, not because of the apparent crappy content after I have read these reviews, but due to the stupid little "Luckey Charm" shapes of the kibbles. One of the pieces is almost shaped like a number 1. It's almost like a barbed fish hook. It lodged in my dogs throat. 2 days of vomiting and thousands of dollars later, my emergency room vet confirmed the foriegn piece lodged in her throat to be a kibble. My dogs are my children and I give them the best that I possibly can. I feel terrible that I allowed my dog to eat such a dangerous product.

I wish I had done more research before I bought this food for my dog. I had been feeding her Pedigree but she started having an allergic reaction to the food so I switched to the Beneful. Her allergies cleared up so I was happy. About a month after I started feeding her Beneful she started acting lethargic and stopped eating altogether. I thought she just had the flu until the symptoms persisted for three days.
Needless to say, I took her to an emergency vet because it was a Sunday and my normal vet couldn't be reached. Then I got the news. Her BUN levels had reached 117 mg/dl. In case you don't know what that is, it means her kidneys had shut down. She was seven.
Now I know Beneful wasn't completely to blame for this incident, she probably had bad kidneys before, but their food couldn't have made it better. I blame myself for her death and I've been distraught ever since. I just want every dog owner who is even thinking about Beneful to reconsider. I'm mad at Purina for allowing this crap to be put out but I'm more upset with myself for not doing the research.

I bought an 8 lb. bag of Purina Beneful Healthy Radiance dog food. The TV commercials got my attention by pointing out that Beneful contains healthy ingredients, like vegetables, which are lacking in other dog foods. I chose the Radiance formula because it contains salmon, which is healthy for many reasons. My dog, a 12 year old male Brittany loved it. Ultimately I stopped giving it to him. It looked like I had poured him a bowl of M&M's. It struck me as odd that Beneful would contain added color (Yellow 5, Red 40, Yellow 6, Blue 2 ) because dogs are color-blind. Consuming artificial color increases the likelihood of hyperactivity in children.

I looked carefully at the ingredients. They were hard to read in the store as they were printed on the side of the bag that is creased and folded at the top. I had to open the bag to get a good look at the nutrition information. As I said, I chose the Radiance formula because it contained salmon. However salmon is a minor ingredient behind ground yellow corn, chicken by-product meal, corn gluten meal, whole wheat flour, and preserved animal fat. The fat content is high; too high for an older dog who had pancreatitis several years ago. I ended up giving the rest of the bag of Beneful away to a friend.

I HAVE NEVER FED MY DOGS THIS FOOD AND NEVER WILL. AND THE PEOPLE THAT DO FEED THIS FOOD TO THEIR DOGS ARE CRAZY! READ THE LABEL. JUST BECAUSE IT HAS VEGETABLES ALL OVER THE BAG DOESNT MEAN ITS GOOD! I DIDNT KNOW DOGS RAN THROUGH CORN FIELDS TRYING TO EAT THE CORN! DOGS ARE CARNAVORES AND NEED MEAT IN THERE DIET, AND BENEFUL DOESNT HAVE ANY OF THIS IN THEIR FOOD. PLUS, THIS FOOD CONTAINS CORN AND WHEAT GLUTEN WHICH IS TERRIBLE FOR DOGS BECAUSE THEY CANT DIGEST IT. IF YOU LOVE YOUR PETS YOU WON'T FEED THEM THIS FOOD.

I'll never be this dumb again!! Granted, he loves it, but my kids love Hamburger Helper and we don't feed that to them on a daily basis. Since I can't afford the good stuff right now, I'm going to research homemade recipes for him.

I just bought beneful because our two little sausage dogs were happier eating their poop than eating the "excellent quality" foods we were serving them. I guess these foods were so bad tasting and high in protien that crap tastes better and is still plenty nutritious. Didn't make their puppy-kisses much fun though (their breath constantly reeks of poop), not to mention finding half-eaten poop niblets all over the place! I am mixing some of the obviously yummy Beneful with some of the "good" food and that mix seems to work well. They're happy to eat food instead of crap (and even though they selectively eat a few bits they soon begin to devour all. Their breath smells tolerable and I'm not having to brush sh@t out of their teeth all day!

My dog is getting sick off of beneful dry dog food. She has been on this food for a couple of years. I noticed that she seemed depressed, gaining a lot of weight and was developing a skin condition. I took her to the veterinarian and she was diagnosed as being hypothyroid. She was given medication and this seemed to have corrected the problem with her weight but not her skin condition. I still continued to attribute this skin condition with her hypothyroidism until just this past month when the store was out of Beneful, I ended up buying a different brand of food. She was as spry and spunky as she has ever been since she was a puppy. Finally I thought, she is feeling better. Her hair on her chest and belly started growing back and she didn't have this horrible smell that she has had. After she finished this bag of dog food, I went back to Beneful as I figured she was use to this. In the past week, my dog is deteriorating. She is lethargic, the skin condition is back and she has had bouts of labored breathing and pants continuously. I did not continue with the remainder of the bag I purchased at my local Wal-Mart and purchased a different brand. I hope within the week I will notice a difference. I didn't think Beneful dry dog food was poisoning her. OMG, I feel horrible.

People who say you shouldn't feed by-products aren't using their head. YOU'RE not eating this, your dog is. Would a dog in the wild be asking for their meal to be defurred/feathered/boned prior to eating? No, they rip it up and eat it. Just because we wouldn't eat some of that stuff doesn't mean that its BAD. Some other cultures eat food that I absolutely find disgusting. Doesn't mean that it's bad for them or they shouldn't eat it. I'm not saying Beneful is good by any means, mainly due to the corn and low meat content overall but don't base your decision on the fact that the meat is in by-product form.

I too use www.dogfoodanalysis.com to research the dog foods prior to feeding. I was feeding Dog Chow, one of the worst dog foods out there because I didn't know any better. But the dogs did well on it, now I'm feeding Blue Buffalo which is supposed to be a high quality food but they have horrid gas and loose stools....some dogs do great on the lower quality dog foods, some don't do so well on the higher quality. I'm trying to find a middle ground that they digest well. But after knowing what I know about certain ingredients (corn, wheat, beet pulp, etc), it would be hard for me to go back to a grocery store kibble.

My dog eats Beneful now, but I am going to switch him to something better soon. We just got it because it was affordable. One good thing about it is that it is made in the USA. I know the ingredients suck (which is why I'm looking at other brands), and there's too much artificial coloring which turns my dog's poop weird colors. He does really love the food though, but he'd probably eat anything.

One of the most compelling things I can tell you is that I had a 4-year-old dog in one of my classes with anxiety and some hyper-activity.  He also had sound sensitivity to the clicker.  I asked the family what they were feeding him and they said Beneful.  After educating them on what should and should not be in a dog food, they switched him to either By Nature or Blue Buffalo (I can't remember which).  In two weeks time, the family reported that their dog's anxiety was much better and he was calming down at home.  I didn't see much of a behavioral difference in class in regards to calmness, BUT, he no longer had sound sensitivity to the clicker!!!!

Corn can make a dog hyper-active, it can actually block serotonin from the brain, because it is high in an amino acid that saturates the receptors for serotonin.  I always recommend getting a hyper or anxious dog off corn-based products- the results are just amazing.  Additionally, Sugar is not an ingredient that should be in any dog food.

Always read the label!!  And despite some of the reviewers advice, your dog should not necessarily be the one to choose his food.  Dogs have a high affinity for sugar, so anything that tastes sweet (such as anti-freeze) is likely to be preferred by your dog.  Of course you wouldnt let your dog eat anti-freeze and you wouldnt let your children eat candy for dinner.  So, just because your dog likes it, doesnt mean its good for them.

THE WORST EVER.
I bought this for my dog and he loved it, so when he finished up the bag i bought him another bag. My cousins told me about Bil Jac n so i bought that for him as well. I set two bowls in front of him to see which he liked better. I left to go to work and when i came home, I didn't realize how bad beneful was I came home and saw a BUNCH of ants in his Beneful bowl! There was not ONE ant in the bil Jac bowl. I panicked and realized that this food prob has too much sugar in it. I looked on the reviews and saw how bad it is. VERY LOW QUALITY. you can get a huggge bag of beneful for $10, shows how great it is.

I have been giving our eight year old Boxer Benefull all of her life. It seemed to be better than Alpo or Olroy from Walmart. We also have a younger Boxer that is only nine months old, and he seems to be doing fine.
Here lately the older one has done nothing but sleep and no longer wants to play with the kids or the other dog. I know that she is getting older, and will not have the energy she once had, but this was not a gradual thing, it was kind of sudden. The vet said she was fine and that Benefull was okay. This made me start to research the food I was giving them. I am very surprised to find all of the bad ingredients in this food, how can they charge so much more for this than the cheap kind? I have started making my own wet food for them, it consits of a can of Vegall, hamburger meat and either small noodles or brown rice. I have seperated it into daily servings and froze it. Hopefully this will help my senior dog and give her more energy. I know she will never be like the young one again, but at least she will care about being with us again. Does anyone suggest a certain kind of dry dog food I can give her without breaking the bank?

IM tired of people always complying about beneful. The lable tells you what's in it, our new addition (rescue) loves Beneful, this dog food is is great for her. Our 2 other dogs want it, but they have been eating dry food all their lives and a change may hurt. All have healthy skin, fur. We, dogs and I, have not had a problem and will send a message to Beneful to tell them. Let the dogs enjoy what they eat.

Wake up everybody!!!! remember one thing...dogs are scavengers...I had dogs as a kid eat Alpo dry food and table scraps and live very healthy long lives. Stop being so naive people! The companies want you to believe a healthier food will make your pooch live longer. My vet told me he feeds his dogs Bebeful and they are healthy have a shiny coat and playful as can be

I have fed my Cockapoo this brand for 3 years, and she has done great. That being said I have been researching all things dog food and am astonished by how poor the ingredients are. And here I thought I was giving her good quality food. I recently switched her to Iams on my vets recommendation, but after reading the ingredients list (after starting her on it), I am again let down by the poor quality ingredients. We are going to start her on Kirklands Chicken & rice as soon as this (small) bag is finished.

They make so much money by selling this garbage that they can built such a beautiful website to fool people!!! This is the worst food I have ever bought, and the quickest one I throw away with no regret!! The latest wet food they are advertising now.... well.....wheat gluten (one of the cheapest ingredent manufacturer use to boost up protein level), and meat-by-product (they cannot even identify what meat they are using!!!), and corn-starch-modified (what??!! It does not sound "natural" to me at all!), and soy flour.....

It seems that they are not using a lot of meat at all, and the meat..... I cannot imagine anyone would buy this to kill their pet slowly!!!

Junk food for Dogs. Main ingredient is ground yellow corn. Dogs have a hard time digesting this. Can cause allergy and yeast problems. They market this food as much or more than any other and sell a lot of it. McDonalds does the same thing with Cheesburgers and we all know they are not healthy are they. BAD choice for your Dog. This food has SUGAR in it now that can NOT be good at all for the Dog ? BAD Choice

My husband bought Beneful and gave it to my dog because I was out of town and he couldn't remember what we normally buy for our Jack Russell/Chichuachua mixed 1.5 year old. Within 24 hours she started puking several times but she loved the food. In 5 days she continued to puke and then finally she woke me up in the middle of the night choking. I looked at her and her snout and eyes were soooo swollen it looked like she was beat up. She was chewing her paws because they itched so bad. She definitely is allergic to this food. We stopped it immediately and after 10 hours she is back to normal. It was scary. That's why I searched and found this site because it was obvious that the problem was the Beneful food. You have to be exposed to something at least once to develop and allergy and it only took 5 days for her to have a full blown one with this food. I know it could happen with any dog food but apparently the ingredients in this dog food must be high on the potential problems for allergies.

Wow just think around 5% meat protien for a meat eater..... The dyes/food colorings are there to make it look good to people, because who would feed thier dogs just yellow food? My dog eats about a 3/4-1 cup of food a day (good food) with Beneful he'd have to eat around 4-5&1/2 cups of food a day. Wow think of all that poop, glad I'm not cleaning it up! The ingredients read more like pig/goat feed than dog food (not that I would feed it to a pig or goat either).

my lhasa apso did not do well on Beneful. I switched to Beneful because it was cheeper and more convenient to get rather than Natural Choice which I have to go to a pet store to get. He was on it for 6 months and after 4 months he started scratching constantly. he gets baths every 3 weeks. he was wining and crying from being so annoyed with scratching. i decided to switch him back and a week later he stopped scratching and has healed up completely.

My dog didn't care for this brand.  Part of it was the size of the kibbles was too big for him.  The other part is was it was probably gross tasting.  His stools were soft and yellow and too frequent, from the corn I was told.  He gets EVO now and is postively thiving.

I just got a Jack Russell puppy and she loves it, alot more than the IAMS brand, and I know that alot of people look strong into the nutrition for their dogs and thats great but I think the dog should be able to pick its own food It is their life after all let them enjoy it.

The reason I went with this food is because my vet feeds it to her dogs. I know because I play golf with her husband and have been to their house. I have feed it to my golden retriever for a year and I will admit, she does have a good coat. But after further research on the ingredients, I'm switching to a more natural balanced diet. I'm hoping that will help her ear problems.

I have a 4 year old Boxer, and what I have found that works well is Beneful, he absolutely loves it, and eats around 8 cups a day. I am trying to thinken him up a bit, so Monday morning I go down to McDonalds and order 14 Hashbrowns (starch) and 14 Saugage, Egg, and Cheese Biscuts, and give him 4 cups of Beneful in the Morning with one hash brown and one Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscut, and the same around 5pm. I looked on McDonalds Nutrition guide, and it actually has pretty good nutrition, and on top of that good value for sure. He has very good coat, and I walk him in the morning and evening about 2 miles. I have tried other brands but Beneful is his favorite, though I do mix it up a bit, and everytime I buy a large back, I buy on of the other flavors, I think he appreciates it very much. Thank you.

This food is one of the most succesful marketing scams on record. Purina is good at the message, but the product is misrepresented. But with peas on the bag, it must be healthy, right? Well, that's what they spend millions on advertising to convince you. If they put half their advertising budget back into quality product, this would probably be a decent food. As is, its akin to McDonalds, something that I don't eat weekly, much less daily. 2 thumbs down to this horrible horrible food with the great packaging and advertising.  PS: Dogs don't see color like we do, so why do they have to artificially color their food with chemicals?
