He's just another gang member of corporate espn.
He believes his word is gospel. I stopped listening to him long time ago, as well as anything espn says.
There are two types of people in this world
doers and criticizers.
the pro athletes are in this "action" category.
talk show hosts wouldn't know what action is. All they can do is
comment on other's actions.

now honestly people, do you want to listen to a radio talk show host who's constantly right and doesn't have his own opinions......? if you do, then you people will never be able to listen to any kind radio talk show..... as far as i see (hear), everybody in radio talk shows have their own opinions, and make mistakes sometimes, but isn't that's why we listen............ if you don't like him, turn off the dial...... but you know why you still listen to him though, even if you don't like it.........

He's awesome. He's not like the other radio hosts on ESPN (Mike and Mike,etc.). Those other guys just report the sports news and have very boring discussions. He gives his opinion on subjects and evaluations of games from a non-X's and O's perspective. He says things to get his listeners angry on purpose to get discussion about his show. Many people take his words too seriously. When he goes on a rant like his Virginia football players are Zima drinkers, I find it hilarious.

show usd to be pretty good quality after a rough start he found his form and the show was enjoyable and the host while sometimes a bit full of himself was basically tolerable even if a bit pompous . that CHANGED big time in the last year , he is so bad now that every take rant and segment is like a therapy session for his ego and a forum to tell us that he's always right , he's got a great life and he's really really successful . at this point a bad combination of know it all pompous ass, dork , not nearly as cool as he pretends to be and this i belelive is a source of frustration for him bcause he desperately WANT TO BE COOL , but realizes he just isn't . Wants to tell everyone that he has all the answers with his UNCLE COLIN segements , but coming from a guy in his early 40's getting divorced when he has a son who hadn't even turned 2 is pretty indicative that he hasn't figured out much . Ego is rally a mask for massive insecurity , has to be right as if he's a college student , not much older than mid 20's emotionally . gets ratings as much due to the hate factor and claims to be HONEST when he fudges things onstantly to suit his arguements and leaves important facts out as well so lies of omission are frequent as well . Money speaks i guess but somehow i really thought ESPN had better standards even if the guy is a ratings winner , guess i was wrong. Liked the show quite a bit at one point , not so much now with all the repeating of the same themes day in and day out for months at a time until the next year when a sport comes back , then it's the same thing over and over like the previous year., but it's the only sports show on where i live at that time and it CAN be decent once in a while , but my entertainment is more laughing as he scrambles and contradicts himself , lies , and tries so hard to make everyone love A-ROD and Kobe as much as he does. ESPN is a ratings whore just like anyone else which i didn't think when they extended the ego maniac for another 4 years

He repeats himself over and over. He finally says something intelligent and he won't let it go. He has to say the same thing a half dozen times.

I have to say that I am completely torn in regards to Cowherd. Sometimes I listen to him on the way home, and for every brilliant thing that he says, he will inevitably say five more things that are completely asinine and will piss you off. To say he doesn't roll with popular opinion is just absurd. He just picks and chooses his spots to play devil's advocate. Otherwise, he sides with POPULATION.

I know that part of his "charm" is the fact that he is honest and tells it the way it really is, at least the way it really is in his opinion. I am a HUGE fan of Los Angeles sports teams, and even I don't think it's fair the way he dumps on Ohio State and other small market teams. He talks a lot of smack about Ohio State and the Big-10, he dogs Notre Dame on a regular basis and he has NO LOVE for your team if it's not located in a top 5 media market. I.E. Chicago, NYC, Boston, Los Angeles, or one of the Texas 3(Dallas, Houston, San Antonio).

I don't mean to be rude on a blog board but since people seem to respect honesty, I will drop some of my own. Colin Cowherd is a whore for ratings. He will say ANYTHING just to spin people up. At the same time he will kiss the ass of the big media markets because if you keep the big cities happy, you in turn keep many fans. ESPN could really care less as long as his ratings are high. Cowherd has the formula down to a science. If you keep Los Angeles, NY, Boston and Texas happy, you are going to lock down millions of listeners. He could care less if any of the other stations he is broadcast on like him or not. Whore for the ratings, nothing more and nothing less.

And if you formulate all of your sports opinions based strictly on what any of the ESPN talk show hosts tell you, then you are buying into a system that wants you to have no opinion of your own. I respect a guy more if he tells me that Kobe Bryant suck and gives HIS reasons why he thinks so, more than I respect a guy like Colin Cowherd who force feeds us the reasons that HE thinks Kobe is the greatest ever. Chances are when Colin spits out statistics and knowledge, he didn't even do his own research. Some college radio intern did all the ground work.

Cowherd, Tirico, Rome, Steven A. Smith, and even Brent Musburger are all flapping heads and yap runners! None with any real life sports experience other than a lifetime spent talking about the achievements of others. Best sportscasters and hosts: Mike Wilbon, Hubie Brown, Doug Collins, Kirk Heirstreit, Bobby Knight, Chick Hern, Harry Carry, and Keith Jackson.

Herd speaks his mind rather then going with the popular opinion. You have to admire that he isn't afraid to stick his neck out; he is the first to admit when he is wrong which many radio talents seldom do. People writing negative things about him are the prototypical Ohio State fan ect who just can't except reality....

0 -Ican understand why he is divorced. He reads the same internet info that most fans read, then misquotes terribly; however, I listen to see if some athlete will come on his show and bust him in the chops.

I'd rather have a radio host that sticks to his opinions than a host that's changing. See with colin, he has facts reasons behind his opinions, however, someone like Sean Salisbury where he changes his opinion more than females do... know the facts and stick with what you believe. Go get'em colin

I agree with those who acknowledge that Colin is a strong talent, but the show is going in a negative direction. It doesn't bother me that he has strong views, but he is getting very redundant. The segments lately have been...1. Colin gives strong opinion, 2. Colin invites a guest on and restates his opinion to his guest, 3. Guest reinforces Colin's opinion and then has barely enough time to say something novel before it's back to Colin. I tend to switch to another station when it becomes clear that he has made a tired point and is waiting for callers to complain so that he can keep restating his point over and over.

I don't live in NYC or Boston, or like any teams from those markets so his show has no appeal to me since those are the only markets he will talk about substantively. I also quickly grew tired of Cowherd crapping on every market that isn't NY, Boston, or LA (Lakers anyway). He will spend at least two segments per day explaining why he refuses to discuss a relevant non-NY/BOS/LA sports topic because those markets don't matter and no one cares about them. While NY/BOS/LA may be the largest markets, most listeners don't live in the rest of the United States. Disparaging the majority of your listeners is probably a bad idea, Colin.

Though all may not like him, or his opinions; he is a fresh, honest and uninhibited voice in an ever increasing politically correct and safe for the whole family world. If that is what you want listen to disney radio. I really enjoy an edgy, controversial and outspoken voice as opposed to a bland and predictable one (Dan Patrick). I don't always agree with him, but he is very entertaining.

Colin is the best sports talk radio host in the nation. But no disrespect to mike and mike and also dp and olberman. But the ratings dont lie and niether do the 90% of people who call the show and start off by saying "Love the show man" The only people who dissagree are the ones who's fav. teams suck, and he makes strong and legit points why they suck, that are usually backed up by the next callers. Anybody that argues is in some sort of denial and u know it.

He just said "Here you bring your white leather shoes, get some sushi in the 3rd and knock a beach ball around. They will run you out of town for doing that on the southside (of Chicago)." WHEN HAS BASEBALL AND SUSHI HAVE BEEN PUT TOGETHER YOU DISGRACE TO SPORTS JOURNALISM. Please visit the southside some time. He looks like, walks like and talks like a fairy. He has one follower that has his nose up his but in John Kinkade. Unfortunately I live in an area where he is the only sports show at his time slot. Sometimes I don't listen to his show and then realize that I really didn't miss a thing. If he didn't trail Mike and Mike he wouldn't have any listeners. I wish ESPN would hire Tony Romo or Jerry Rhome for this time slot. Can I give him zero stars?

Never heard anything as god-awful as The Herd. Since when is rabble-rousing and taking insane stances on issues you know nothing about but rather thought-up 30 minutes prior to air time entertaining? I get the feeling he doesn't even believe half the stuff that spews out of his hole. But honestly, I don't know how the show has been the last month, becuase for the first time in my life, a sports radio show has made me, an absolute addict, turn off the dial. I say my nightly prayers for health for my family, an end to Iraq war, and for sports listening America to wake-up join the call for his removal from the radio! I wanna listen to sports in the late morning again!

p.s. thanks to whoever posted the picture. Knowing he also looks like such a tool somehow makes me feel better!

The best show on radio, hands down. The guy is intelligent and witty. He has the best commentary and all you idiots who don't get it should be shot. If you don't like it, don't listen. The guy is captivating. That's the point, you don't have to like him, but you still listen, you can't help yourself. Colin personifies the worst tendencies in talk radio. He's unnecessarily argumenative, condescending towards anyone with an opposing viewpoint and hypocritical. To list each of his sins would take forever, so I'll keep it short. Despite what Colin seems to think, merely having and expressing an opinion does not mean one is being "honest". No, it just means you're a blowhard. Colin will never let anything get in the way of his opinion, if the facts/stats are against him, he talks all about the impression or feeling or fame of a person/team/sport; when the facts/stats are on his side, he derides anyone who talks about the importance/feeling of a particular team/sport. It seems that Colin is perfectly free to make judgments based on anything he wants, but the audience never is. Additionally, Colin is the ultimate "homer". Not the type of homer who is loyal to his team through thick and thin, but the type who is the #1 fan of whoever is #1 right now. The second a team stumbles, Colin will be the first to blast the team and anyone who makes an argument on their behalf. He's a shameless huckster.

And seriously, he has one of the worst voices on radio. That high, nasally whine of his could shatter glass. Colin's got a face perfect for radio, unfortunately his voice isn't a fit for that medium either.

Colin Cowherd made a stereotypical slight towards Catholics today on his. He said anybody who does the sign of the cross in his chest is bascially a hypocrite. It is my goal to make sure every CAtholic that listens to Colin and watched ESPN in any form knows that he did slight a religion and ESPN condones and supports his viewpoint until an apology is issued. Post his comment on every board you can find!! "Anybody that does that cross on his chest, that Catholic, you know hes cheating on his wife"

This fellow is anti Southernor and unapologetic. In fact he has proved himself for two months to be a bigot in regard to the South. Calling us too dumb to know what is offensive while calling us "trailer trash", "uneducated", "lunatics", "tornado bait", "racists" and "goobers" ( I am sure I have left out something else) is the height of liberal arrogance--though Colin is himself a college drop out. The tornado bait crack was especially offensive since so many in the South (and Midwest, for that matter) have suffered from tornados including 20 deaths in our sister state Florida the day after he uttered this slur. ESPN needs to fire him before it loses every Southern affiliate it has because I intend to let every advertiser in our locality know that I will not support them as long as that bigot remains on their station. Cowherd missed the boat on the Colts (i.e. mid-season analysis crapping on the colts vs. the patriots). The guy is way too sure of himself. Colin Cowherd is the best AM drive time talkshow host in Los Angeles. He makes my awful commute from the 818 to the 310 bearable. If you don't get his humor, or you don't appreciate his point of view, then don't tune in. Simple. Problem solved. If you can't figure out how to work your radio, then maybe some 5 yr old can show you how to use the dials.

Like many 'opinion' writers, Cowherd uses few facts to back up his view. He likes to claim that he isn't mainstream, but yet uses mainstream media and tactics to make his opinion known and his money. He does a good job of stirring the pot on issues by taking an uninformed or devil's advocate stance on most items. He isn't what I'd call thought provoking, interesting, or entertaining. He is the 'Springer' or sports radio. The same type of people attracted to 'Springer' will enjoy Cowherd. He isn't cut from the same cloth as Patrick or Mike and Mike. Unfortunately, most midsize markets don't have enough sport radio stations to give listeners a choice between him and anyone else. Just my 2 cents, obviously others differ or he wouldn't have a job.

The whiniest pr*ck on the air. He's the nerd that got picked last in gym class trying to get back at the big, mean popular jocks. He calls people that like "home town heroes" immature and then makes his arguement as to why Brett Favre should retire by mispronouncing Favre's name in different ways. Yeah... that's mature. He makes me physically ill and is an absolute embarrassment to ESPN radio talents like Mike & Mike, Eric Kasilias (sp?) and others. A tragic on-air joke. He is the poster boy for the unintelligent sports fan that just likes to be a jerk for jerk's sake - no real opionion, no moral standing, nothing of value. I have been actively boycotting his show since December,'05. He comes on and I tune elsewhere. I hope more and more and more of you do the same. Let's get rid of this snivelling pansy! I like his show because i think he gives more airtime and attention to college football related issues. I think that he is a huge homer though when it comes to USC. I didnt think his comments were too far out of line as far as Eddie Guerrero goes but i mean everyone knows theres a steroid problem in pro wrestling. BTW, i stopped watching pro wrestling in the 8th grade but i like to catch the show when it comes to j-ville, its still fun and reminds me of some good ol days.

www.firejoemorgan.com One of the writers brilliantly dissects Cowherds comments, showing that the man just loves to rant (made fun of baseball writers for using stats, saying that they were overrated, then 12 minutes later, uses stats to back up his own argument!). He's another example of sports radio gone bad!

Best voice on the radio. Most interesting and informative commentary of all. Keep up the good work.

Colin is the most intelligent, thought provoking talk show host on the radio today. There is no one else taking such ordinary discussions to the simple yet amazingly honest level that he does. Some people might be offened but only because the truth always hurts someone. Love the show listen everyday for last 4 months. I am voting this guy in 2008 election to run the world...

To all the "wrestling" fans who are freaking out about the comments made by Colin Cowherd: All the guy was saying is what most sports fans were already thinking. Wrestling is NOT a real sport and no one but "wrestling" fans care that the guy died. Alot of people die every day, do you care about every single one of those people? NO. Get a life and quit consuming yourself with the comments of someone that was just telling the truth.
