After attending today's KQED mayoral debate, there is no question in my mind that Ammiano would make an excellent mayor. His record of public service is unmatched - he is honest, universally respected, and someone that clearly would be a fine representative of San Francisco. Of all the candidates, there is noone who would be more successful at bringing people together from across the political spectrum to get things done than Ammiano. The only questions I have are around how the election of Ammiano would be perceived by the business community. Would his far left roots frighten away still more businesses? Would his nice guy politics allow the size of the city's government to grow even more (or continue at its bloated levels)? We could do a lot worse than Tom Ammiano - the reason that I will not be voting for him is due to the near crisis state the local economy is in, and what I see as a critical need to make San Francisco, in practice and in perception, much more business friendly than it is today.

For all San Francisco should be. For all San Francisco can be. For all San Francisco will be...Vote Tom Ammiano, Tuesday, November 4th.

Anyone can promise they'll remain fair and honest if elected. Tom is the only one who has done that. He's the only one who has made major beneficial changes for low income workers, communities of color, tenants, the LGBT community, teachers, labor, the environment, and education. We all watched what happened with horror under a corrupt Brown administration. Rather than give in to the greed, Tom was the only guy who fought for a living wage, fought against corruption, and stood against cronyism. None of the other candidates have been tested under these conditions. He's got the ideas, and he's got the base of support to finally bring progressive change to San Francisco. He knows how San Francisco's departments work better than any other candidate in the race. He can hit the ground running from day 1. The other candidates will never admit it, but their learning curve is so high, they'd lose precious time trying to figure it out. Win Tom Win!

Tom has the most impressive record of accomplishments of all the candidates (see ammianoformayor.com if you need to be convinced), has remained true to his principles, has shown a solid commitment to ethical and open government, and has retained his honesty and integrity. He's a working-class guy who rides the bus to work, a grandfather who's taught in our public schools, and the only candidate who's fluent in Vietnamese (from living and teaching there during the war). He's shown a willingness to take risks: he came out as a gay schoolteacher when it could have cost him his job, he's stood on picket lines and marched against the war, and he sponsored and fought for legislation even when he knew it would lose but because he believed it was still the right thing to do. When he talks about how he’d make the city work better, he makes sense. To top it all off, he’s funny! I like what I see, and I'd trust him to be mayor.

I like Tom. Just not as much as I like Gavin.

A good guy who's been around a long time; I think he could do a good job for SF.
