I was very impressed by Ribera at today's debate. He seemed to be a sensible and practical man, and my sense is that he would be an honest and hardworking mayor. In terms of policy and ideas, I didn't get much more than 1) he is pro neighborhood / anti high density housing; 2) he doesn't think that 6 figure police managers should get overtime (I would agree, as that would be illegal); and 3) he does not think that businesses are inherently evil. While I agree on all counts, I am not holding my breath for a Ribera mayorship.

He's a Republican in a Democratic/Progressive town. But he still would be better than Gavin Newsom. He doesn't pander for votes.
