People complain about "political correctness" today, but in the 1970s we had the Superfriends, where the network had to conjure up three stereotypical heroes of color, Black Vulcan, Semarai Warrior, and Apache Chief (who talks like the Indians in the old westerns) each of whom has powers completely unrelated to the ethnicity implied in their names. And in all the fights between the heroes and villains, nobody actually throws a punch! And I suppose there's an inherent ecological value to the series, as they recycled all of the old Star Trek sound effects.
And when are they going to put the older Wendy and Marvin episodes on DVD???

05/15/2006 | Drummond made some good and valid points. I just CANNOT hate any show where the great Ted Knight is the narrator and says in his stentorian voice "Meanwhile, back at The Hall of Justice" about 17 times an episode.

04/21/2005 | superfriends was the last cartoon aired every saturday morning. i would get up to watch the first cartoon which was captain caveman right up until superfriends i never wanted the show to end cuz that meant tv off and saturday chores. saturday morning used to be a big thing but my own kids didnt seem to get the same excitement i did when i was a kid. i wonder why that is?
