 | joseceja (0) 04/26/2007 | salvador sanchez was one of the two greatest mexican fighters in history, Ricardo lopez being the other. Both styles were similar both were great men as well , humble, fearless filled with heart, unfortunatly the fullness of his potential will never be known because of his death at age 23. I think he would have beat julio ceasar chavez had they fought. A greater challange would have been alexis arugello. salvador was an extremly intelegente fighter he won most his fights by knockout, but never tried to force the knockout, he slowly and patiently took his opponents apart and when he saw an oppening he took them out. There was not a fighter like him until Ricardo (finito) Lopez who holds the record for the times he defended his title and was never defeated.I disagree that current boxing star Marco Antonio Barrera is as great as Salvador Sanchez. Sanchez will live forever in boxing history

 | callitdowntheline75 (69) 08/30/2004 | The James Dean of boxing, Salvador Sanchez is often cited by fighters such as Roy Jones Jr. as an inspiration. Many others try to emulate the bushy-haired legend. What might have been had his career continued on can only be of pure speculation, but what remains are memories of a fighter blessed with a perfect combination of strength and skill. One can only imagine what a fight with Alexis Arguello would have been like. But if any proof is needed to show how great Sanchez actually was, all which needs to be shown is his eventual dominance over the great Wilfredo Gomez in a battle for the ages.

 | TheEvilSaintEvan (0) 08/24/2004 | probly the greatest bantam/featherweight of all time. explosive power, razor sharp technique and skill, laser accurate punches, a steel chin, heart and guts, and only one loss is what make salvador sanchez so great. if he had any flaws as a boxer, they were impossible to notice.

 | Taskmaster-Zero (0) 07/28/2004 | Great, GREAT fighter. I would rate him 4.5 only because his career and his life were cut short.

 | Randyman (109) 07/04/2004 | We will, perhaps, never really know just how great this Mexican legend might have been. His style went against the grain of most mexican fighters. But what a boxer, what a fighter. His shocking upset over Danny Little Red Lopez was thought to be a fluke, until he repeated it a few months later, followed by a string of exciting defenses against future world champs, including the Ultimate Warrior Azumah Nelson. He was a consistantly good fighter with fantastic lateral movements and unmatchable ring instincts. His life was cut short at twenty-two years old in a automobile accident and it will forever be our loss. R.I.P. Champ

 | jaywilton (29) 06/18/2004 | Salvador Sanchez, who died tragically in an auto accident, is probably the best featherweight since Willie Pep and Sandy Saddler-who were probably the two best featherweights, ever.

 | St Martin (0) 11/22/2003 | The greatest featherweight of all time, his fight with Azumah Nelson was a classic, pity his career was cut short in such tragic circumstances or he would have been a definite top 10 contender
