I've had it with Cox Cable...of all nights for their service to go out...tonight, right before game 6 of the World Series between the Phillies and Yankees...and their customer service number (supposedly 24/7 as advertised) has been busy (for the past 5 hours)...No longer a Cox customer beginning tomorrow...

Cox Cable's telephone reps are rude. Tried Internet help, and rep exited the room for no reason. We were disconnected. I am fed up with them. I keep hearing on their TV ads how they are consistently rated #1. Who rates them? I have never been asked to rate their service. If I could have a dish, I would switch. They are a monopoly and know it. Switched from Qwest to Cox Internet. Cox wasn't faster. They told me this to get me to switch. There rates keep rising. Why? Not the lame excuses they give. They flood the market with Cox TV ads. Must cost a fortune. I can't think of one positive thing to say about them. They suck. It's that simple.

cox is terrible. first off my bill is 150 dollars a month. this includes: an hd box w/ hd for dvr, 2.5 mbps dsl, hbo hd, and all of the hd channels. so let me begin, the hd is in spainish sometimes or it just doesn't work. now mind you this isn't all of the time but i really do expect a lot considering my monthly bill. then comes the internet. i pay for 2.5 mbps, rarely, and i mean rarely do i ever reach such speeds. i have clocked it as low as 256k via the internet. i understand that there are problems from time to time but once again i expect a lot. all in all i think their service is way overpriced and unreliable and unless you are forced to use cox don't.

Bad customer service, especially because of the subs they send to your home that don't want to do the work that you paid them to do.

Customer Service is horrible. Internet connection is constantly timing out, to the point where we have to reset the cable modem every few days. Also, all of the HD channels, which I pay extra for, as well as some of the digital channels come in extremely pixelated (the customer service rep said it was called "tiling"). The first time I called to complain about this, they wanted me to have to pay extra money just to get a technician to come out and see if they could identify the problem. I told them that I was already paying for their service, and I shouldn't have to pay extra money to get the service to work properly. She didn't agree with my analysis. The problem continued for a few more weeks, so I called back. I am now waiting on a technician to come out (this time supposedly without an extra fee, although I will have to wait and see). If my apartment was facing a different direction I would have gone with Dish service or even DirectTV, even though I am not too thrilled about the contract length. But as it turns out I am stuck with Cox as my only option. Also, whenever I call to complain about the internet going out all the time, the customer service personnel treat you like an idiot. I do network administration for a living, so I know about internet connections and how to identify where problems are coming from. But I still get talked to like I am the problem in the situation. I can't wait until I move so I can go with a different provider. There is a reason why their name is Cox.

Cox has the worst service I have ever encountered they just happen to have a lock down on the souther california market. Busy people with busy lives tend to just stay with the first thing opened. Who choses the poll participants COX if I were a service rep not doing my job well I wouldn't refer all the ticked off people either!! They are TERRIBLE!!!

Damn, I can only go as low one star. Broken cable TV that drops channels for you, internet that is supposed to be 20Mbit and runs 3 if you're lucky, replaced equip twice already fml this is junk. I miss Optonline, they just worked, and these guys are clowns. If they tell me to check my TCP settings I'm going to punch something. It's not my network, it's theirs, since when is an internet connect faster up than down? Avoid at all costs.-d

Cox Communication internet and cable service does not suck ! IT IS THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM ANY COMPANY ! not only does their service stink but their technicians their customer service the inter net and cable the interface is WACK the boxes NEVER work and in the last year i have everyone from a field supervisor to whom ever here to fix my GD service. I have exchanged my box at the least 6 TIMES count em 6 times and wouldnt you know it still doesnt work. I am tired of them trying to charge me for cancellation when they have breached their end of a so called contract. i WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMEND THIS sERVICE TO ANYONE.

Cox Cable is another Company run by white collar criminals gouging and cheating the public and lying about it. In the long run it will hurt the investors for consumer will leave this internet provider as soon they see an oportunity and that will be not to far from now.

I finally cancelled my Cox cable TV today after five months. The quality of service has been so bad that they have been giving it to me for free. They acknowledge that there is a problem with my cable, but instead of fixing it, they are giving it to me free of charge. Id rather pay for something that works than get something for free that doesnt. Dont get Cox cable. Ive had Dish Network, DirecTV, and now Cox. Dish is far above the rest in terms of quality of service and price.

Cox throttled my bandwidth way back. They claim that I was using to much network bandwidth by using P2P. I am a computer professional and use VPN access from home for work reasons, not P2P.I recently moved to this area and don't have a choice but to use these clowns. I had SBC DSL for years before this, and never had a problem! It was blazing fast compared to this garbage.I went from 8 megs to around 2.5, on good days. Oh, how I wish I could have my DSL back!!
numbah16tdhaha 08/27/2008
I do dish. Dish kicks Cox in balls. UPDATE: I can't believe some people believe the Cox propaganda. Here is my own horror story from the good old barracks. Three to four days of total loss of service a month. Double images, ghosting, and lines due to over-apming the crappy low bandwidth. Waiting at my neighbors place for the cable guy to show up there because they REFUSED to send out a technician. I hate Cox cable with a passion and in my current employment, subcontracting Dish Network and Directv installs, I now replace their lame ass everyday! HAHAHAHA!

THE WORSE SERVICE EVER,,, neither the telephone line, nor the internet,, VERY BAD CONNECTION,,, any other option is better than cox. One thing they are good in it,, it is how to take your money,,, their charge is very high while their service is very very low,, technicians do not know what they are doing, some CSR supervisor are nice to you, but still the service is VERY VERY BAD, hope the government will deal with them soon

I would have to say my worst customer experience has to be with Cox communications. I started out with Internet service from Cox. I decided it would be cheaper to bundle cable, phone and internet together with Cox. I soon found out you get what you pay for. I canceled my satellite and phone service only to find out I couldn't get my Cox service for several weeks past my original, scheduled install appointment. I get different answers each time I call and no answers I can understand. I now am going to return to service with Qwest phone and internet service along with DirectTV. I will pay more but at least I won't be dealing with a bunch of morons who have no idea what they are doing.

Cox internet suipport have to be the most abrupt people on the planet! With the exception of one person who did at least try to help. It took me 3 weeks to unravel what turns out to be a simple matter, which I am sure they could have attended toi to in a few minutes if they were not trying so hard to tell me it was a Microsoft problem not theirs. I am in an area where I have no options - Cox is the only provider. If I had a choice I would have switched about 2 weeks ago. Do not reccommend them to anyone. If you are going to provide a service you would think that you would be at least partway sympatheic to getting your users connected to that service. I hade much better experinces with SBC would use them if I could.

Their channel listings are not too bad and their customer service is pretty decent but their onDemand service is the slowest thing I've ever seen.
nonenone24 01/08/2008
Cox cable is an overpriced service. Their idea of keeping up with HD capacity is to compress the analog channels to make room for HD. I've noticed on an HD television that some channels look like OVERCOMPRESSED movies. This is especially noticeable on cartoon channels where the compression is CLEARLY visible. I guess cox cable figures no one would notice the compression especially children. Couple this FACT with their throttling of p2p and online gaming makes cox cable the worst overpriced internet service in America!
FG1 12/23/2007
Cox internet service blocks p2p protocol and if you host a videogame online and have friends join they also send reset packets and screw up your connection . Why in the world would anyone even bother ordering cox cable service , I had a more stable connection with dialup . Cox has sent out dozens of techs to my apartment trying to "PRETEND" they are fixing my lines but in reality they are blocking and throttling the connections with filters to monitor what you do where you go and make sure you use the least ammount of the bandwidth as they can possibly get away with letting you have before you catch them and turn the service off as I have . I will do without internet before I return to cox internet . I will use dial up or dsl anything but cox . I hope the company goes under I hope they rot in hell . Even the tv service craps out gets blocky loses signal . To hell with cox. BTW we need a minus star , im forced to choose atleast 1 star and thats to much credit for cox.

Terrible service, very-overpriced. Downtimes happen periodically. They have monopolized in my region, and in my opinion are in need of competitive rivals. They bow down to and take orders like cowards from all the anti-pirating companies and campaigns (Where other ISPs show strength and ignore their pleas), and thus violate user's privacies by snooping in on excessive downloads and reporting this and shutting off services.

All I needed was a 4" piece of coax with ends attached. Customer service wanted to charge me a service call to send someone out to cut me a cable and did not know the number to the local Cox Store. I drive down to the Store and they cannot make customer specified lengths - offered me a 6 foot piece. Said I should drive around town until I see a Cox truck, stop and ask the serviceman to cut me a cable and put the ends on. Sent e-mail to customer service, no response. COX COMMUNICATIONS can drive by my house and check out my new DirecTv dish! They lost a 14 year customer over a 4" piece of coax cable! COX COMMUNICATIONS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
excoxcust 09/19/2007
I have had it with Pox Communications. I had them once before and had trouble from the start. Then I moved and had the fortune of landing up with Cable America . . .then Pox came in and bought them out. Since then I have had nothing but trouble again, starting with a dud receiver box which took them about three weeks to sort out despite me telling them that it was a dud. Nothing has ever been right and the 5MG internet from Cable America was much faster than the 7MB from Pox. I tried the max (12 MG) broadband but that was barely aceptable. Now I've gone to DishNetwork but I'm still stuck with Pox for internet; what a bummer. I agree with others here; F--- Cox, and their white mice.

artgrrl 08/14/2007
Can you say... monopoly??
dyinman 07/12/2007
Complete ripoff. In Omaha, NE here, they really have no competition to speak of. So, they decide to overprice their customers and offer crap for service. My 'net speed is only ever at around half of what they advertise (and with a business account, which is the only way I could get opened ports), and there are several outages per week, which they deny is their problem. I would switch in a heartbeat, if there was something to switch to. I feel a class action lawsuit coming on...
chokeoncox 07/12/2007
This company is horribly overpriced and offers craptastic cable packages. I'm forced to use them for the internet. That is sad because it runs like a wounded 80 year old war veteran. I use directv for TV though because it is 1000x better. I hope the owner of cox chokes on one - soon. Then maybe a reputable company like time warner will buy them.
egoeimi 07/02/2007
I've never dealt with any company so inefficient. I will go out of my way to not have to deal with them, but due to the monopoly they have in the area, I'm forced to use them as a provider. Just to set up my internet for the first time took over 2 weeks. They kept sending out techs, all of which claimed that no one had been out here to begin with, and finally on that second week I get someone knowledgeable on the phone that tells me that the service is actually flipped on at their "station". The person couldn't understand why techs were being sent out here to begin with. Recently the cable went dead after less than a year after the first incident. They tell you they will call before showing up but the tech actually just stuck a "sorry we missed you" thing on my door and took off (I never heard a knock). The service was out for over a week. Interestingly I will call one day and be in the computer and then the next day I'm lost in the system waiting on hold for 10 minutes at a time. Their clerical skills are nonexistent... someone had replaced my SSN with my phone number. Then they ask for maintenance numbers that they never give out. To me it seems like they all just do whatever they want when they pick up the phone, leaving the customer in this chaotic run-around when all you want is something simple. My favorite thing is how when you call specifically for internet troubleshooting, they suggest you shoot them an email for a faster response. To this day, they keep sending my bill to the wrong place. Truly a pain in the ass to deal with.
princeicarus 06/29/2007
Cox's billing is terrible. They are trying to claim I owe close to $300 for service which is totally bogus. When we recently moved to our new apartment they failed to connect our high speed internet and cable and then said they would credit our account which they didn't. We had to pay $85 a month for cable and internet which they said we were past due on but even 2 months so called past due doesn't add up to $294 being currently owed. I guess they need to add math skills to their list of qualifications for customer service because they obviously don't have any. When I complained to the billing department that they were overcharging us, I had one customer service person hang up on me, another who transferred me to a supervisor which turned out to be just another customer service person, and then finally got a supposed supervisor who said he was told not to credit our account anymore and there was nothing he could do. When I told him that I'll be contacting the Better Business Bureau and our State Attorney General's office this rude supervisor says fine, we can't comment on any legal action. I guess they don't care if they lose another customer. I plan on getting satellite TV but unfortunately may have to stick with Cox for high speed internet because Qwest is no better. Cox's high speed internet always seems to have problems and we're always having outages or drops in signal. The only answer Cox seems to give on that is to get a new modem so you have to wonder if they're getting any money from the manufacturers? There doesn't seem to be any winning with this company. When you complain they try to punish you by charging you more or ignore the issue. When you get promised one thing by a customer service person they never mark it down or they claim to look through their notes and don't find anything on record. Cox has one of the worst records of any company out there. Their internet is terrible (but when it works it's ok), their billing department is a mess, and their customer service people are unconcerned about your problem. I say avoid this company if you can. They seem to care more about the money and less about the customer.

Cox internet service is the hands down the worst internet service I've ever had. Their customer service is pathetic, their techs are morons and their cable internet service is riddled with brown-outs. Avoid them at all cost!

Fuck Cox Communication they confiscated my HDTV DVR boxes and shut off my 12mbit internet connection and the only reason they give me is agressive actions and unwelcome behavior. To the best of my knowledge the only thing I can recall is complaining that their HDTV DVR that I had $300 worth of pay per view programs on had quit working properly and now Im out the $300 for the programs I paid for with no way to recover them so I let them know in no uncertain terms that I thought that was utter and complete fucking bullshit whether they liked it or not. Their only remedy was to give me another new DVR and after i had another $200 worth of PPV programs recorded on it then they decide to come and confiscate the cable boxes. As a long time Cox customer who had a substantial cable bill every month between $100 - $200 a month for Cox services I find this to be fucking bullshit. When i first signed up for cox high spped internet i was told it was unlimited access but being a power user of the usenet maybe they didnt like the fact that in the last 30 days i downloaded 350 GB and uploaded 30 - 40 GB theu my premium paid usenetserver.com account but hey their technicians brag that they have 10 times more bandwidth then they ever use so what the fuck is going on here? If they had a problem with the bandwidth used then they should have contacted me to resolve the issue. Is there any way as a customer to sue Cox for termination of services or is it a losing battle before it ever gets going legally???
MalachiAD 05/26/2007
God they are so horrible. I have a supposed '712k Cable Internet' they offer. I'm a gamer, and a developer, their internet service is wicked slow at times, sometimes during games the modem just decides to turn off. It'll be fine for like a week, then randomly it decides to go down and not come back up for sometimes hours. Today is one of those days, I've been fighting with this shit all day, it's driving me up the walls and there's nothing they can do about it. Phoenix needs a better provider, but I suppose it's still slightly better than Qwest. This is the lesser of two evils. >.<
KeineLust 04/30/2007
Terrible service. After spending half an hour on hold they finally decided to send someone out to my apartment. This guy was a "contracted" worker who said they needed to replace the actual cable. Cox decided to send out one of their own cox employees who found a splitter above my apartment that wasn't being used and blamed my inability to connect to the internet on that. Needless to say that didn't fix the problem. They had to send another cox employee out to do what the first "contracted" guy said needed to be done. There is a reason why they're called COX...

COX SUCKS! I WAS OFFERED THE BUNDLE PACKAGE AT THE TIME OF TRANSFER TO MY NEW HOME, BUT THE REP "FORGOT" TO ENTER THE SERVICE CALL FOR MY PHONE AND FORGOT TO ADD THE BUNDLE PACKAGE PROMOTION. SO THE TECH SHOW UP ONLY TO INSTALL CABLE AND INTERNET W/NO PHONE ORDER! HOW STUPID. HE OFFERED TO SET IT UP IF COX JUST GAVE HIM THE GREEN LIGHT ON THE SPOT. THEY WERE TO INCOMPETENT TO REPLY. ANYWAY, AFTER FINALLY GETTING EVERYTHING INSTALLED A MONTH LATER MY BILL COMES AND INSTEAD OF BEING $100 PLUS TAX IT WAS LIKE $180 BUCKS. WHY? BECAUSE THE "GENIUS" REP FORGOT THE PROMOTION CODE.I WENT IN HUNDREDS OF CIRCLES WITH THESE MORONS AND ALL THE WAY UP TO CORPORATE AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT I WAS TOLD COULD NOT FIX THE ERROR SINCE "THEY" CAUGHT THE PROBLEM WHEN I CALLED A MONTH LATER? THE CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR INCOMPETENCY AND STUPIDITY AND THEY ARE ALL SO STUPID THAT NO ONE CAN EVEN COME TO A SIMPLE CONCLUSION TO JUST FIX THE DAMN PROBLEM!! THEY CANT AND I MUST PAY OR HAVE MY CREDIT RUINED. THE END. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE, OR ANYTYPE OF SERVICE PERIOD.
rileykb 02/16/2007
I was a very satisfied "Cable America" customer until Cox Communications bought them out about 7 months ago. They raised my monthly bill almost $20.00 a month for inferior service. It has been nothing but problems with Cox. Poor Reception, frequently losing the signal on several channels for hours. I've had a couple "no shows" from repair technicians. When I called them, they told me the appointment was canceled. They can't tell me who canceled it. The Channel Guide is very hard to read; Program Information is sparse when it exists at all. It doesn't even tell you if an episode is a first run or a repeat. The DVR is just plain Primitive. Very short pause and rewind time. No prioritizing of recordings, NO TITLE SEARCH to find the programs you want to record. No way to cancel the recording of just one episode with out canceling all. Many scheduled recordings do not record. No "Time Line" to show our far the viewing is delayed. The COX DVR also has a habit of just switching channels on you while you are recording a program. "Usually" the recorded program is still there, but you have to go through the menu, and start at the beginning of the show to continue watching it. The standard features that have been on every other DVR system (Cable America, Dish Network, Comcast, and a DVR I bought at Circuit City 6 years ago), Cox doesn't have them. The 24/7 tech support that they claim does not exist. The so called "Live Chat" is a joke. I have been trying to set up an account to view/pay bills online for 7 months without success. I have been told by Cox Customer Service that there is NO TECH SUPPORT for this. The Cable Internet (The reason I'm stuck with them) speed is erractic. Sometimes satisfactory, sometimes slower than dial up with a 28.8 I'm praying that Phoenix gets a new Cable Company soon.
Loafywedge 01/28/2007
zero stars for these bastards. All i wanted was channels 2-13. FIRST OF ALL, WHOEVER HEARD OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THOSE FOR FREE???? But yes, i must pay 16 dollars a month and i don't even get channels 2-13. just fuzz. ALL FUZZ. and what does cox do about it? NOTHING! "A technician must be sent and the earliest appointment is a month. JESUS FREAKIN CHRIST!@

Their customer service SUCKS at every level from the counter people at their service locations to their telephone "customer support" to theor service people. WE set up our account for EZPay where they deduct your monthly bill from your checking acct and they did not draft it early enough one month and threatened to turn off service BECAUSE THEY MADE A MISTAKE! Their customer service agent was honest enough to say it is a recurring problem they have but there was nothing he could do about it! I just called because they keep making the same mistake on the address of bill and they said THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT! PLEASE someone in Phoenix start a competing cable utility. You have no recourse but to use them and they know that!
