Excellent storyteller, he hasn't written a bad one yet.(Not that I expect him to.)

Noir fiction in the Louisiana bayous by a writer with an ear for dialogue second only to Chandler. One of the best writers in American fiction. I can't imagine why he's rated so low on this list, unless its due to the fact that so many raters are sub-literates.
