Change of mind

Leak has been criticized all season for potentially game-changing mistakes. The interceptions, fumbles (or incomplete passes), and sliding just a yard or two short of the first down have drawn a great deal of disapprovement. And I admit that those mistakes were very disappointing.

But look at what Leak has done. He has played QB for the team with the toughest schedule in the nation statistically in 2006 and still managed to lead the Gators to victory 12 times, only losing one game to Auburn after a controversial call.

So he's made mistakes. Lots of players do. But he doesn't let it knock the Gators out of the game. When mistakes are made, he focuses on what the team needs to do in upcoming plays, not the mistakes committed in past plays.

Maybe his wins aren't pretty, but we're not talking about ballet. It's football -- a game that you play to win. I don't care how you do it as long as you win. And winning is exactly what Leak has done.

No Title rings, no SEC title rings, lots of losses. Now, Zook and the spread option have something to do with it but still, he makes a lot of mistakes. He also is horrible in pressure. Maybe if he had better timing he would have been better, the legend I thought he would be. But I think he just lacks "it". He hasn't showed the stuff of a great, so he can't be called one.

No titles, no rings, lots of loses. With that said, he had a horrible coach and now a system he doesn't fit into. Still, his constant mistakes and low tolerance to pressure have proved disappointing. These words come from a Gator fan who annointed Leak as the next great one, a future legend at the Wuerffel level.

A lot of people don't consider a few things when looking at Chris Leak. One, he has never had an offense stay the same from year to year. Plays, set up - they have been changing on him. Two, he's a different style quarterback than what his choach's offensive plan requires - and he still does extremely well in it. He's one of the best QBs in college football.

I had the chance to go to highschool with Chris and I know that he is going to get very far in his career because of not only his talent but because he is one of the most caring humble people. I wish him all of the luck in the world and I have so much confidence that he will go very far.

I think next season he will be better, but this season was a pretty dismal one. Tim Tebow is going to be good after Chris trains him to be a 5-star QB then i will be impressed with Chris.

Chris Leak is one of the best quarterbacks that florida has ever had.I think he has a great chance to win the heisman trophey this year and he is only a junior.If and when florida has a great season this year it will be mostly because of the great determination and skill of Chris Leak.

Chris Leak is definitly an outstanding QB that has proven many people wrong, especially stating that he is only a sophmore. Chris Leak is ranked 16th in the NCAA football association, not to mention that there are 258 total. The kid has had 28 passing TDs and 2 rushing TDs with only 14 sacks and 10 interceptions. Since he's only a sophmore, he has 2 more years to show all his talent. Without a doubt, I'm guessing that he'll make it to the NFL. Someone would definitly have to do some serious arguing to say that this kid's not good.

I've only seen Chris Leak in one game, against FSU. I was thunderstruck by his play. Everything he did was done with a poise and skill far beyond his years. His ability to switch from one receiver to another was lightning-fast. His execution of the option was similarly perfect -- he was running the ball with full intent to keep running, then lateralled back to the running back with no hesitation -- it was almost like a no-look pass in basketball. His handoffs were beautiful. His play-action passes were astonishing, he sold the run completely convincingly. Either he has tremendous natural talent or he has been working hard at every facet of the quarterback position since he was 2. Perhaps it's both. I feel that he has a precocious talent much like that of LeBron James. I can't wait to see more of Mr Leak over the coming years. If he remains healthy, both physically and mentally (both difficult tasks!) then he will be amazing. Thad Beier

Chris Leak is awesome...no doubt he'll win the Heisman. Freshmen year was a little rough for him, but Zaunbruachner was no help. Leak is a great a QB not to mention very cute.

how can anyone rate him a 1 a 2 and even a 3!!! he was a freshman playing for an prostigious football program and HE beat LSU at death valley, then georgia, so theres nothin more to say than hes amazing.

chris leak is way overrated took his team to 8-5 and the record will not get better next year with all the secondery gone (ratliff, scott...) i wouldn't be suprised if the go with only 7 wins at the end of the 04 season no heisman for him sorry...but i do believe that grossman was robbed
