I believe it was named after one of the Mcdonald brothers, i.e. Mac.
Fortunately it was not named after the other brother......"Dick"

03/16/2008 | We do not go to McDonalds too often but when I do I usually get the Big Mac.If it is cooked well enough it is still a pretty good tasting burger. On the whole I give McDonalds a three. since I prefer grilled burgers to fried. but as for the Big Mac, It has stood the test of time and every now and then I get a hankerin' one of these burgers.

02/19/2008 | im a vegan! no more to be sed.. wel apat frm.. chek th farming pracrices, that provided them wth their meat products.. they're disgusting! also for n e vegans that may eat fries at maccydeesm, we cant eat thm cos thr coated in milk! um.. i ges tht they failed to tell us tht.. also for u veggies out thr.. in some restaurants they fry the chkn nuggets in the same baskets as the fries! yuk!!
