In a clenching grimace the nightmare of the war cannot be denied because it is viewed in crisp writhing detail under the blazing Catalan sun of Senor Dali's canvas portrayal. His unblinking terror in the vivid daylight is a true map of a lucid dream. This bubble may be looked upon with the full knowledge of it's impossibility without the image bursting. The buttressed elements invoke each meaning with action of stretching and bending figure that grasps for truth and meaning in tghe shadows and echoing aftershock of the Spanish Civil War. This artifact is a document of deep affect and reaction. It is in fact a symbol of the irrational quality of war itself, charging and fusing dimensions of paranoia and anxiety that overwhelm our people.

A truly unique painting that symbolized Dali's feelings about the civil war going on in Spain. Something that's full of feeling and an essense that describes what's going on in the painter's mind.
