the loudest stadium i have ever been to. it is not far away from campus, less than a mile, so that is not a huge negative. plus, there are condos being built around it making the place look better. great atmosphere and superb entrance.

The stadium is very nice looking despite what the Clemson folks have posted. It has a balanced design. And, the stadium is getting even better, cosmetically. It has been painted in the Garnet and Black recently, and billboards have been posted recognizing player and team accomplishments. Yes, it would probably have been more desirable had the stadium been built on campus. Fortunately, the campus has expanded outward over the years. Therefore, the stadium doesn't seem nearly as far away as it once did. There are future plans to remove parking spaces from immediately around the stadium. Then they will add grass, trees, walk ways, etc. It will be much more appealing from a landscape and beauty perspective.Entering, exiting and parking are not very difficult at Williams-Brice. It's elatively easy to enter, to leave and to park and tailgate as compared to the other venues I've visited. It would be nice if they would plant some trees inside the parking lots, adding shade and more natural beauty. The stadium surroundings are improving. Nice condo's and members only parking areas have been built immediately around Williams-Brice. Some bars and restaurants have opened, nearby.A real estate developer could do well by building a "strip mall", complete with bars, restaurants, licensed clothing and tailgating stores and maybe a bank. These businesses would rock on game days, and would sustain good business year round. The fans have always been loyal with attendance. And, they are becoming more and more like an SEC fan base with group cheers, showing more "pure football interest" and getting into the games themselves, instead of prioritizing the social aspect of Saturday. Contrary to what Clemson fans have posted, most visiting fan bases rate Gamecock fans as some of the nicest and most hospitable in the country.

absolute dump... rude fans, ugly stadium and terrible atmosphere.
MAMAJ4USC 10/08/2007
I'm not so sure what those tiger fans are talking about when it comes to parking. At least we aren't setting on the exit off I85 for hours waiting to find a place in the pasture to park. I've been going to games for years and never had a hard time parking. Of course it's a little more difficult during State Fair but oh what an atmosphere during this time. Willy B's can't be beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tiger4life 09/25/2007
Where is the campus???? All i can see as far as i can see are old rundown warehouses and railroad tracks!!! Willy Brice Sucks!!!!!! Its more of its location than anything else!!!!!! Maybe the gamecocks savor will knock it down and build somewhere else? O i forgot he's prob. going to lsu at the end of the year!!!!!!!!!
ClemsonDude 09/25/2007
You tailgate among warehouses and the slums of Columbia. Columbia is a dump of a town. The stadium is only OK at best.
Gamecocksuck 09/01/2007
Be prepared to bring mace! First of all, it is in a terrible, very unsafe part of Columbia and secondly, the fans are complete rednecks!
halicio 07/13/2007
Not a bad facility on it's own both the fans are obnoxious and are very inhospitable. A lousy place to visit unless you are a chicken. They are rude and nasty to all opponents and if you happen to be a band member of another team beware on your march in you will be pelted with bottles and other debris.

As a soon-to-be Clemson gaduate, I guess you could call me a little biased. Since my fiance is a S. Caroline graduate, I have been to several games at Williams Brice. The stadium is nowhere near campus; the surrounding area is really not very attractive. My last game in Columbia was the 2006 Tennessee game. During my time in the stadium, I had a woman yell that she hated Clemson in my face (even though I was nothing but polite to her). I was almost hit in the face with a door as an angry fan stormed through it, and I witnessed at least 100 bottles and other forms of trash being flung on the field by some very classy Gamecock fans. The "Game" "Cocks" cheer is super annoying, and the rooster crow is ear splitting. On several of my trips to the venue I have witnessed S. Carolina fans streaming up the stairs before halftime because their team was being demolished. I am sure I will be seeing plenty more games there in the future; my husband-to-be is trying his hardest to convert me..not going to happen :)
Victor83 02/09/2007
I love the jealousy I am seeing here. How bout them Clem(p)son "tiggers"! Williams Brice rocks. The Gamecocks, with Lord Visor, kick ass and will continue to do so.
Jrobyan 02/09/2007
Greatest college football stadium ever built. Comparing winning percentage to ticket sale USC with no doubt has the best fans; includng best pre game entrance. Thanks to coach Spurrier we will soo have the best team!!
dmunny11 07/24/2006
The Gamecocks stadium might not have "state-of the-art" facilities, but consistently on gamedays the atmosphere and loudness of the fans inside undoubtedly ranks umong the top 10 stadiums nationally.
Songofainu 04/24/2006
There's nothing all that special about it. The 2001 entrance is good and exciting but other than that there's not that much to the stadium or the atmosphere. Maybe in 20 or 30 years when the stadium has a little more tradition it may be better.

Blake Jones 02/18/2006
Ths place sucks. who wants to be in a stdium that sways back and forth?
clemsonskip 01/08/2006
I grew up in Columbia and have attended my fair share of games at this stadium. Watched it grow when they added the second upper deck and then the endzones. The place can be loud at times when the 'cocks are in the game (not very often). They sell it out, but do they stay till the end? I have seen many 4th quarter exits by the faithful and even a halftime exit during a significant loss a few years ago to their rival. As my call name indicates, I am a Clemson fan. This stadium would normally rate an OK but gets a Good for two reasons...2001 is cool when the mascot comes out, the smoke and then the team...also, that song and that stadium usually means a win for Clemson.
GayCavilar 08/22/2005
Great stadium and fans, but parking sucks the big one.
RhodesScholar 08/22/2005
The people weren't bad but the scenery is. Columbia has some nice spots including the campus. That's where the stadium should be. Tailgating with no trees anywhere on a dirt and gravel lot is pretty miserable at best. The structure isn't too bad but the corridors, concessions, and bathrooms weren't nice. The fans were loud at the very beginning and then were very quiet for most of the game. Poor atmosphere.
TaterHater 08/21/2005
The Best...only a Tater would disagree.
ACC Forever 08/17/2005
Virginia Tech fan here... USC has amazing and loyal fans... I give them huge credit for always being there, even when the team sucks -- which is pretty much 8 out of every 10 years. W-B is a tough venue....
BOSOX1 08/09/2005
OK, thsi is a tough one. One a stadium has nothing without history so there goes 1 star. But, the rest is pretty good. The entrance is great (State of South Carolina has the two best ebrances in college football. USC 2001 and Clemson The Hill. Howard's Rock) I guessd the best is Clemson's because it has been around longer. But hey im not ESPN. Fans are very loyal very very veryx100000000000 loyal. Very loud. Neat how upperdecks bounce when all the USC fans cheer after touchdown. Great band. Stdium deserves some big wins every now and then. Thats why Spurrier is there i guess. Overall 4 stars
DeepSnap 08/06/2005
Extremely loud - always full - worst night of my playing career here, but still quite an atmosphere on the State Fair Grounds.
gamecocks05 08/03/2005
Great site lines not a bad seat in the house new endzone edition really closed in the noise and made Williams Brice twice as loud as it was before. 84,000 fans screaming at the top of there lungs when 2001 is playing gives me goose bumps every time i hear no matter how many times I ahev been there before. It was the best entrance in college footbal according to ESPN love the stadium, love the area, love the tailgating, and love the team.
barrycgt 07/07/2005
great fans....bad teams.....
westy 04/20/2005
Stadium is far from campus. Tailgating consists of parking in an enormous, treeless, hot, humid, field. USC has no tradition therefore cheers are limited to GAME!....COCKS!. THe stadium has no history. All that equals one star.
usc2 02/26/2005
Best their is.
Alexg681 02/05/2005
HAHAHA I didn't realize that this looks like a cockroach.
JRF29201 12/18/2004
Good Stadium and great fans. It's loud, the crowd is into every play and the best introducton of the home team in college sports can be seen here (2001). However can be very crowded and people don't always sit where they are supposed to. Seats are also very close. But it's worth it. A step ahead of Memorial Stadium in Clemson.
art@ecu 10/16/2004
wow. what energy as the gamecocks take the field. good tailgating, good fans, good atmosphere. notice none was GREAT. plus, we owned that place in the 90's, and then you quit scheduling us. still fun though.
uscfan2001 08/20/2004
Great fans...original stadium architecture...numerous coaches have commented that WB is the loudest stadium they've been to...and the fairgrounds that some of the rival raters complain about actually create one of the most electric and tight-knit tailgating parties in all of college football. Sorry if 85,000 USC fans tailgating in one place is trashy, but ESPN Gameday begged to differ...oh they've never been to Tiger-Land, so they couldn't comment on the trash pit that is death valley. Maybe you should spend more time cleaning the trash up in Memorial Stadium (original also) instead of trashing Williams-Brice!
duket24 08/09/2004
great fan support, even Lou said this place was loudest beginning to end of any place he has ever been (miss st game '00)
TheBigTiger 07/24/2004
How can a stadium that looks like a dead cockroach even be listed in the top 100 college stadiums? Not to mention, it's backdrop is a huge waste-yard and unkept fairgrounds. This is also the perfect place to find any type of illegal drug you could ever want.
milfordcttiger 07/24/2004
looks like a dead COCKroach in a dust bowl.
jackorange 07/24/2004
probably the most loyal fans in the country, but WB is a dump in the middle of surrounding dumps..shoulda been on campus.
Spirt 07/24/2004
The stadium itself is not on campus so that detracts some from its appeal. The surrounding area also hurts this stadium because of the lack of college feel to the place. The stadium itself is old but a endzone addition is quite nice. Overall it is pretty good.

Not one possitive thing you can say about this play. Ugly design, even uglier location and filled with idiot fans.
kgpittm 07/24/2004
One Word: Cockroach (See aerial view of stadium for explanation)
gamecoot 07/24/2004
Looks like a dying cockroach, full of inbred chickens
rfbrown94 07/24/2004
Probably the only stadium in the country that has had a goalpost torn down after defeating New Mexico State. This place needs a serious makeover. It also needs to find someone that can grow grass. Nothing but sand on the field.
Jwmill3 07/18/2004
loyal fans but average stadium sideline seats have beautiful symmetry but they made a mess with the endzone additions......not a pretty location
Duke.U.S.C 07/18/2004
EXTREMELY UNDERATED STADIUM! OVER 80,000 FANS ROARING TO THE THEME OF 2001 SENDS CHILLS UP AND DOWN YOUR SPINE! STRUCTURE IS UNIQUE AND ALWAYS GETS GREAT COMPLIMENTS FROM TV COMMENTATORS!
excelsior30 04/14/2004
It is far away from campus. However, this is like Raymond James if the Buccaneers and Tiger (LSU) Stadiums combined. It's hard to skip visiting this stadium!
wmnewman23 03/10/2004
great stadium. easily accesible. Oustnading fans! Carolina could lose 6 straight and it will still be packed to the top. Great tailgating.
ApexJacket 02/08/2004
All college stadiums should be on campus.
USCgamecocks 09/24/2003
I have rode by this stadium and many other college football stadiums... and by far, Tennessee and South Carolina's stadiums are the BEST!!!!!!
