OVERRATED, even with a one star

lane stadium is a horrible venue.  getting in and out of there is terrible.  terrible views from upper levels.  tailgating is awful, cheese and wine crowd.  mountaineer field is as large 61000 to 65000, went to games at lane in the 80's and 90's where wvu out drew vt at lane.  been successful just since around 93.  before, no tradition.  their modern fans seem to forget before then they were horrible and wvu had to beg for them to get in the big east.  nobody wanted them.  no crowds and horrible facilities.  which cassel col. still is terrible, lane has improved some, but for people to come on here and say how great it is, come on, no great tradition when a 12 year old has seen all their great moments.

  If you like to watch pre-destined convicts in action???Then this is the place to be. Nowhere else in the world can you sit and soak in the thuggish play of  more future felons on one field.

The new west side of Lane is awesome. Arial shots of the stadium are gorgeous. Inside there is not a bad seat as there are no seats that are in corners of the stadium. Of course the atmoshpere is what college football is all about. Look for a new north endzone complex to be built inside the next 6 or so years that will really make this one of the top 10 stadiums in the country. Current seating is 66,233. With the new north endzone complex is will jump to about 73,500.

West Virginia fans are the biggest bunch of idiots I've ever seen. We are talking about the stadium, not the football team. Plus, last time I checked, Pacman Jones and Chris Henry both went to WVU and are bigger thugs than Marcus Vick, if that's even possible. Anyway, Lane Stadium is a great place to see a football game if you are a true diehard football fan. Not the most attractive place, but this is pound-for-pound the loudest and most intense place you will go to. If you're a wine-cheese-pansy-wahoo type of person, I would avoid coming to a game down here, because you will probably have a heart-attack when "Enter Sandman" starts blarring over the P.A. Oh yeah, and for you Wahoowa05, have you ever walked around our campus on a weekday? There really aren't too many rednecks around here. Sorry, wrong answer dumbass.

Richmond, VA represent! Lane Stadium is easily the loudest venue I've been to, hands down, no contest. I wish Carter-Finley could get somewhere in the same ballpark as loud - We mainly lack in the number of hardcore fans. So, I have nothing against WVU (and i think the rivalry is great), other than that West Virginia fans rag on Frank Beamer for no good reason other than the scar on his neck... Bottom line: Beamer is a god. I don't give 2 damms if anyone makes fun of Chuck Amato (b/c I want Bill Cowher as head coach), but you can't touch Beamer. He's immortal. Oh yeah, MARCUS VICK DOESN'T GO TO VTECH ANYMORE. Find a new subject

on Thursday nights the opposing team better be ready........ to head to the bus. I am a true hokie fan, but i do hate marcus vick - he is a thug, but that does not take anything away from the stadium, it is a great atmosphere.

Love the fans and just the roar of the crowd when Hokies step on the field...alot of people are not crazy about this team, but the fans sure know how to tailgate!!!

I live in Christiansburg and I must say I hate living here, Living in Southwest Virginia is a horrible expierence. I am a Ex-VT fan who used to enjoy Lane. I choose to no longer attend games or root for the Hokies. The image branded on this area due to previous events is sickening. Marcus Vick and the fans make Lane a horrible place to be!

Nothing will ever beat this place for me... and honestly of all the places I've been it hasn't been beat yet. There is nothing like the deafening noise that is produced during a night game at Lane, and now that the new west side is done, Lane will be untouchable.
