700 million to renovate! That is twice the cost of Reliant Stadium was to build brand new with retractable dome. They must have used all Union labor to be waisting money like that. I give it low marks for spending that much and still no dome. A city known for bad weather needs a dome. A NFL franchise team like the bears should not have to rely on bad weather to win games.

The Soldier Field refit is certainly a lot more user friendly even though the aesthetics are not as good. The pillars are outside now and the upper decks on the ends look like flying saucers. However, you don't have to stand in line for an entire quarter to go to the bathroom as you did in the old Soldier Field.

I liked old Soldier Field better.

Ugly and not at all impressive. What a waste of money.

The renovations didn't improve it much, they should have built a brand new stadium.

The new Soldier Field looks ridiculous on the outside - an upside down spaceship smashing into Greek columns. But on the *inside* - wow! Great seats throughout, with a terrific view of the field, the Chicago skyline and the lake. Now all they need is a decent football team.

The design of this stadium just doesn't seem to make sense in any way. I look at the pictures of it on TV and I am just confused by it. I'm really not sure why the Bears' ownership couldn't have done what Ohio State did with its own horseshoe: modernize the facilities while keeping the old-school charm. I think nothing could beat the pillared press box and excellent architecture that the old soldier field had. I actually want some corporation to buy the rights to this stadium because it doesn't deserve to be called Soldier Field.

We know it's a spaceship, sadly it doesn't have the capabilities to fly this team to the moon and leave them there.

Used to be a cool field, but now it looks like a spaceship. The Spaceship At Soldier Field isn't a great football stadium. Soldier Field itself is good, but this new one is awful.

The new renovations are a monstrosity. You have to wonder about the motivations, aethetics and practical thinking of the architects, owners and public officials who end up making binding, enduring decisions regarding public and private venues: what suits the interests of the aforementioned generally runs contrary to the interests of consumers/taxpayers, the capability of local infrastructure and the sensibilities of anyone who sees, encounters or uses those venues. The fact of the matter is that the design of the new Soldier Field was too large and cumbersome, apparently did not take into consideration how the new structure would fit into existing surroundings and totally disregarded the archtectural orders of the original building. That's why the structure is butt-ugly and incongruous to its surroundings. Perhaps the owners, architects and public officials should have considered more closely plans that would have been more appropriate to the venue they were renovating. Furthermore, the internal improvements should be expected: as this is, in essence, a brand new stadium, it's no great achievement the indoor amenities are state-of-the-art because, actually, there's no excuse for them to be otherwise. Mark my words, five to ten years from now, people will look at that aethetic disaster and wonder how it ever got approved. If they're not already doing so.

Ugly as sin from the outside, but maybe the best stadium inside. Only gets a 4 cause of the outside.

I've been to both the old and the new Soldier Field. At first, I was skeptical of the Spaceship, but after having been to the Bears/Packers game on Monday Night Football, I have to say that this version of Soldier Field is definetly better than the old one, and the fact that the historical colonnades are still there makes it all the more special. The seats are comfortable, every section has a great view of the game, there's no such thing as "bad seats" at this new Soldier Field. Definetly one of the top three NFL stadiums in the league.
