Cyrus the Great (590 BC-529 BC) 4

One of the most famous Leaders of all time, mentioned many times in the book of Daniel. Led the Persians to many victories. Cyrus was famous as a statesman as well as a soldier. His statesmanship was seen particularly in his treatments of newly conquered territories, and people. He was able to make new subjects his supporters by pursuing a policy of generosity, instead of repression, and by favoring the local religion. A great example of this is found in his treatment of the Jews in Babylon.
