A great fight. Up there with all the othere recent classics such as Castillo vs Corrales / Barrera vs Morales, maybe not as skillful as those fights, but this fight is all about guts. a brillant, brutal fight.

Open your eyes. Gatt v Ward I is a decent fight, but its hardly warfare during the first 5 rounds. Gatti moving and boxing, and Ward walking forward getting off with nothing. The fight does heat up during the second half, with round 9 being simply amazing. But believe me, its not in the same class as Barrera v Morales I and Castillo v Corrales I. Ayone who has rated this fight a war for 10 rounds is simply not telling it how it is, unlike myself. Great fight overall, but nowhere near the greatest of all time.

An absolute masterpiece of guts, determination, toughness and excitement. The unique thing about this one is that these two guys are warriors and gentlemen, the sportsmanship they display for two guys who are trying to knock eachother's heads off is remarkable. Best fight I have ever seen!

A battle between two of the sports toughest in a must see action packed bout. Named Fight of the Year for 2002, this action packed bout is a showcase of toughness and sportsmanship. Also marked the beginning of the best trilogy of the 21st century (could be dethroned after Coralles v. Castillo III, but we'll just have to wait and see).

I'm not sure Gatti considers himself a white guy, but no matter. This was such a brutal fight I actually felt guilty for enjoying it. I think Ward did just enough to win. The look on Gatti's face after a blast to the kidney region was one of raw agony.

What does it say about the quality of these fighters when all three of their fights with each other are on this list? These guys were amazing against each other. Their fights are classics and will be talked about for years to come.

It isn't easy to say which of their three nuclear wars was the best. But this one was probably the most memorable.It was sorta Mickey Ward's last stand-with the younger Gatti-winning the next two. They both deserve several Miller Lite commercials.

Since being a kid I've always enjoyed watching boxing, but never saw anything other than 2 guys beating each other up. This fight changed everything. Somehow it happened on a rare night when my wife went out of town and I accidentally flipped to HBO. I kept watching and ended up seeing so much more than a fight. This may have been the best sporting event I've ever seen. Scratch that, this fight may have been the best entertainment I've ever seen. Just punch for punch, taking then giving, never even flinching as they exchange hundreds of blows. I didn't care who won because each round I kept rooting for the opposite guy. I wish they both could have won (not a draw either, a win). Hell, they both should have won Gatti-Ward II also. Wow. Just amazing.

When it comes to pure ferocity, this is probably the number one fight I've seen. The ninth round was as exciting as it was brutal and hard to watch, both fighters showing tremendous heart and willpower. Wards left hook to the liver/ribs hurt throughout the tristate area and the fact that Gatti took them all proved once and for all that he is a warrior of the same class as Tony Zale, Frankie Duarte or, for that part, Micky Ward.
