I don't like Boston or the Red Sox, but how can you not like Big Papi?

I hate David Ortiz because he defected from my favorite team, the Minnesota Twins, and went to the most hated team in baseball, the Boston Red Sox. What a coincidence he started hitting once he got to Boston, but couldn't hit worth a lick in Minnesota. I hope that double-crossing a**wipe goes down in flames! You suck Ortiz! BTW, if you want to investigate for steroids, start with David Ortiz. Seems obvious enough.

Seriously, anyone who thinks Ortiz is not on steroids is truly blind. He just hit another walk off...should have been a routine fly out. It's so blatently obvious. His size, his magical heart problems due to "stress", fatigue, dehydration (from sitting on the bench for all of about 20 minutes during the course of a game?). Red Sox fans are so oblivious, it can make any real baseball fan sick. Not like they could ever qualify as real fans. What kind of fans wave in the air on their cell phones to see if they're on TV....in the 9th innning???? What kind of people wear sandals to a baseball game? What kind of fans cheer against a team more than they cheer for their own team? What kind of fans stand up and cheer for a WALK...let alone when their losing by 6 runs in the 8th??? Oh wait, because they're hoping Big Crappy gets up and sends an HGH shot into the next city. Him or his good buddy Manny, the MLB's #1 slob. I don't know whether to watch Manny hit or call the cops because Predator is loose and standing at the home plate of Fenway Park, with a Red Sox brand diaper on his head, covering his nappy dirtlocks. Please, Red Sox fans, get with the program, and stop living off of your one 2004 World Series victory. At least Giambi had the guts to admit to doing wrong, while Ortiz covers his huge ass by claiming he "might have" taken something in the past without knowing, and defending Barry Bonds. Who defends Barry Bonds??? Red Sox "nation" makes me not want to be a baseball fan anymore.

The player for whom the term "walk-off" was invented, Ortiz is already one of the best-loved hitters ever to play. Big Papi could also be known as Mr. Clutch, even if that clutch hits are hard to measure statistically. He's shown a great attitude even in venues that don't count, like the Home Run Derby, and even has a (ghostwritten) book out now. All in all, Ortiz is a very positive force in today's MLB.

Ok ortiz sucked when he played for the twins, so then he goes to the sox and is a great clutch player, who hits 40+ bombs a season, He was alredy well into his carrer when he came to boston. He sucked in mini and was great in boston. That just doent happen like that, This faggot has to use roids and he is gonna die soon if he doent cut down on the food.

I kinda find it amusing that a couple of fans of a certain team featuring, to put it mildly, 2 pretty infamous 'roids suspects in its own right (Giambi and Sheffield) have posted similar accusations about Ortiz on here. Perhaps they could put the word' hypocrisy' in a sentence for the rest of the class? At any rate, Ortiz isn't much with the glove, but he walks a lot and probably, with the possible exception of Ramirez, has more 'presence' at the plate than any Red Sox hitter since, I'd say, the prime of Rice. I like how Steinbrenner claims he was sooooooo insistent on acquiring him after 2002...

Ortiz is simply one of the best hitters in the game. Also one of the main reasons the he was noticed early in his career is because of his glove, his coaches wanted him to become more of a power hitter. Guess what he did a good job.

If I had to come up with similar players, I think Greg Luzinski or Frank Howard. But Ortiz did get Boston a ring. That in itself, is a Hall of Fame achievement. Though Sabermetricians say there is no empirical evidence that certain hitters thrive in clutch situations, Ortiz is living proof that sometimes stats are meaningless. Ortiz timely hitting wins games. By virtue of this and his gaudy batting numbers, I think he should win the AL MVP this year.

Come on, Big Papi at # 33, show some damn respect. This guy has been one the greatest thing to happen to my town in years, he came here from the dominic republic and look at his accomplishments, he deserves to be up on the list.

I don't like this guy because he plays for a team that I hate and I saw him wearing a Yankee Hater baseball cap on some cooking show. He's a good player, but this guy looks so roided up that I doubt that he'll live for more than 15 years. He needs to stop eating and lose the damn weight.

One of the best baseball players I have ever seen in my life (except for outfield). I saw him get the game winning hit numerous times against the Yankees, something that anyone should feel proud for doing. The Red Sox wouldn't be where they are right now if it wasn't for Papi, no doubt about it.

Papi is a one hit wonder. He's just simply a home run hitting machine. I can't keep track of how many he's hit out of the park.

Papi does it all (except defense). To think that the Twins allowed him to walk. Mr. Clutch all the way!

Two walk off game winning hits in the ALCS in the same calendar DAY. That's got to count for something.

Papi is single-handedly refusing to let the Sox get eliminated. It's amazing that this guy was cut just a couple years ago - he has awesome power to all fields, seems to always come up huge in critical situations, and is apparently the glue of the clubhouse to boot. You just can't root against this guy.

David Ortiz has been huge for the Red Sox this year, and has taken a huge step in his career. If he plays next year like he has this year, than I believe he would earn himself another star.
