I read the Herald every day. The sports section is a good one and the columnists are interesting, keeping in mind that you almost always know what side of every issue they will take. Best of all, it's not the Globe which has become the New York Times Jr.

Has the opposite problems of The Globe. Basically, a smaller version of The N.Y. Post, filled with resentful Archie Bunker type columnists, particularly the hateful sports columnist Gerry Callahan, and a mean spirited hack named Howie Carr, who writes the same damn column every day about the graft and what not politicians, and they also have vapid disposable nonsense stories about celebs and B.S. Right wing diatribes for the most part, and sentimental Frank Capra type crap permeate this rag.

I prefer its sports coverage to the Globe. It's not quite as literate, but it is less vicious in coverage of the Sox.
