Lionel is one of the last people on the radio worth hearing. He's level headed, unbiased, logical, witty, and occasionally damn funny. If you don't like him, listen to the blather from the mouths of Hannity, O'Reilly, Bortz, or the drug riddled brain of Limbaugh. Lionel makes sense and doesn't lie or exaggerate. Now the people that don't understand Lionel can go back to kneeling before their framed pictures of Dub-uh-yuh and "Dick" Cheney and worship them for lying and exaggerating to the world.

Awful - like chalk on the blackboard. I switch the station whenever he is on. How much longer do we have to endure this?
jatpa 11/20/2007
My God, is his show stupid or what? Air America did something very stupid taking Sam Seder off the air and substituting him with this guy. What are they thinking??????
jas2803 10/19/2007
This guy is just rude, if he does not agree with you he cuts you off, or just talks over you, or may even plays weird sounds, I guess he thinks he is a god......
sidbrown210 09/20/2007
Absolutley awful. You've got to be kidding me. This guy has a job? It's the only show on AirAmerica (XM) that I turn OFF.
yeah12 09/08/2007
Great show! Very entertaining, I'm tired of the same o same o from the other host. Bush is an idiot and has done everything imaginable to destroy the country for 6 years now. ITS OLD NEWS, the people hasn't done anything about it and never will. Lionel brings a little bit of everything and is funny.
Ranta 09/06/2007
I hated Lionel when I first heard the show but anything beats Springer. Even though he doesn't know anything about politics, civility, manners, subtlety or dairy farming he has grown on me. Very witty. Very well read. Very egotistical. Very cruel (just have the radio on in the background when you call in and he asks you to go and turn it up). Still, he makes me laugh when most media makes me cry.
linkhogthrob 09/03/2007
I actually wanted to give a minus 6 rating, but it wasn't available. Some guy who purpored to be an ex vice cop called in a said he was was in on a drug bust where they lobbed gernades in on a house full of drug dealers... turned out to be family of what ever. The guy finally asked himself "what the hell have I done", subsequently quit whatever agency he was working for and became some sorta proponent of abandoning all laws against any drugs. Then made the comment "children in school are being taught to hate police officers, AS THEY SHOULD BE". The pedantic nanowit Lionel, who obviously has a MABS (that would be Master of Arts in Bull Shit), gleefully lauded his caller, probably peeing in his pants in the process...proving yet again a mind was NOT a terrible thing to waste. WHAT AN ASSININE ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!
thebiram 09/01/2007
Please bring back Sam Seder. this guy is so into himself, he's hard to listen to. One time I heard him have a really good political show with guests and that was it. I don't need to learn about this idiot and his megalomaniacal rants. Please get rid of him and bring back Sam. I listen to Air America for political news not Lionel news.
ronito6 08/25/2007
I heard Lionel a few weeks ago ask the open question "What will you tell your child about this (Iraq) war?" Some poor guy calls in and says "I'll tell him it was for oil." Lionel hangs up and berates the guy for not being expository enough. Lionel is drek! And I wish he would stop voting for himself on this site. Praying for Seder's quick return. Ronito6, Osaka, Japan He seems to be cut and pasting to vote for himself from radioratingz.com so I thought I would do the same
pablo321 07/31/2007
Very entertaining, smart, interesting. The best thing to happen to Air America. I have heard he has ratings are more than 250% above Sam Seders. I love how he is rude to 'STUPID callers! He is bringing in listners by the bus load!
notyouokay 07/28/2007
His voice is grating. He insults and makes fun of his callers. An older woman called in awhile ago with her radio on in the background. Instead of asking her to turn her radio down, Lionel told her to move closer to her radio repeatedly and then hung up on her. How nice. This is supposed to bring in new listeners to AAR? This is the show that is supposed to pull in ratings? Lionel will often misunderstand a caller's point and do one of the following: hang up on them, insult them, or play the cricket noise (which is totally HILARIOUS). From what I've heard of his show (I gave it about a month before I stoppd listening), he doesn't go in depth about important political issues and will instead spend hours discussing topics like Paris Hilton or Anna Nicole Smith. He sometimes goes off on tangents that are about a whole lot of nothing-the kind of tangent you'd expect from a drunk person at a bar. Oh, also, he passes gas on the air. That's another little bonus I forgot to mention. Awhile back he had on the psychotic Bill Donahue and got mad when people were outraged. Bill Donahue is the president of the Catholic League and is an anti-Semite sexist who hates gays and believes Jews are taking over the "Liberal Media". He had him on to talk about the terrible persecution Christians face in this country. When people reacted less than kindly to this loser, Lionel verbally berated them for not "thinking critically". In other words, for not giving Donahue the psychopath and his persecution complex the time of day. This guy is the pits. I don't see how he is going to bring in ratings for AAR.
djyib 07/28/2007
This show is pretty horrible. I would rather listen to the commercials in between segments! Lots of dead air non-sensical blabber and overall retardation. The only good part is when he makes fun of rush, colter, or bush.
lamere5 07/20/2007
He's not entertaining or interesting. He's often rude to callers. I don't like him!
CubFanHere 07/06/2007
Oh my God this guy is the worst thing to happen to Air America Radio. He's a fucking prick! He constantly talks down to his audience as if they are not intelligent enough to understand the conversation. He doesn't seem to understand that he's not dealing with a right-wing audience and that the majority of Air America listeners are very educated, so his tone comes off as very condescending. They should dump this guy quick!
karenc 07/05/2007
Overall rating = ZERO Has the the WORST radio voice I've ever heard. Is he liberal or conserrvative? You can't tell because he just rambles on about nothing. Everytime I turn on my radio and he's on, I turn him OFF. He's alway marching to a different drummer. If everyone's talking about Scooter Libby, Lionel's talking about circumcision ... or something stupid. And ? Green, the CEO of Air America said, listeners would be pleasantly surprised. ROFLMAO! Why would Progressive listeners want to listen to a Republican TSH? ROFLMAO!! I'm UNpleasantly sickened when I even have to hear him for ONE second. It's a miracle AAR even survived bankruptcy. Lionel? No stars. He sucks. He stands for nothing, therefore he talks nothing.
mvsally 06/22/2007
I must admit that I have not listened to this show---but after hearing promos for it, I must say that I can not stand to hear his grating voice, and he DOES sound sophomoric! Rachel Maddow is my favorite--very smart lady with a great sense of humor.
gdamac 05/29/2007
This guy is garbage, he is horrible with callers and bad on the issues, I am noit even sure where this guy stands on anything.
AlanLovesDevon 04/28/2007
Gone from WIOD in South Florida. Damn. Now it really is "Fox Radio" ALL THE TIME.
Stanndon 08/25/2006
This is the best show on radio!
1SKEETER 04/08/2006
This guy is the best possible thing that could happen to the republican party. I have voted straight line democrat for the past ten years and nonpartisan prior to that. He has me convinced that anyone who has any religious belief other than atheist must vote republican. He pretty much confirms what the religious right has been saying all along.
mikelz 02/04/2006
I almost always agree with Lionel. Unfortunately, he comes off to me as pedantic and partonizing. The people that need to understand the analogies and history are not listening anyway.
demssuk 01/15/2006
He is close-minded, completely. He is rather unintelligent and tenative about issues. Note that this man has spent 17 YEARS in this business and has gone where? Late late weeknights and late Saturdays. He's a reality flop, period
madmaxfromhell 12/21/2005
Very predictable and a run of the rate idealogue. Seems to be very uninformed most of the time and uses the same liberal script. I swear at times he thinks his listeners are idiots. He was much better when he was a libertarian but he's caved into the far-left for the all mighty dollar. All in all he's much better then any personality on Air America If you want to listen to a political show, Laura Ingraham and Big Ed Schultz are still the best
Cosmic 12/10/2005
The best of all talk shows
Angela Wilson 08/24/2005
Lionel -- The Monkey's Dead -- is that from the Marilyn Manson song or what? Now don't start jeering at me, but what made you use it as a farewell line? I love the au revoir bit -- Sue you! Very funny! And another thing - you're not derivative, thank God! - Angela Wilson, Brooklyn Heights, NY

THE GOOD NEWS is that there is the LIONEL SHOW. It is knock on your door, invite in your home lets talk some sense talk radio. Lionel is not only a natural but he is also the voice of reason and gives a platform to all people, if they agree or disagree. His show is made up for the most part of himself and his listeners. He gives his opinions regarding issues that are in the headlines or the talk of the day. To cite a few examples, two prominent court cases, the Terrri Schavo and Michael Jackson cases, the Death of probable cause and Stem cell research and everything in between. He has a smart sense of humor that cannot be missed. Lionel has among other desirable attributes an abundance of common sense. In addition to that, he is the definition of critical thinking. It becomes evident when he explains or justifies his opinions and explains it step by step as to why and how he reached his conclusions {to the callers that like to argue}. Needless to say he has and displays his intellectual honesty by siding with what is right, even if it is not popular with his peers and others. Lionel was previously a prosecutor and defense lawyer. What has become a loss to the judicial system is a gain for the listeners of talk radio. It is a real privilege to be able to listen to an authentic intellectual, that also has a generous dose of wit. He treats his callers with due respect as is to be expected from a man of his caliber. A Lionel Fan is easily recognizable because he possesses many of the same, if not all of his attributes. The calls to his show are back and forth reasoning often interlaced with humor. I like to point out that it takes an unusual talent to host his type of talk show. He does none stop talking mixed in with humor and never misses a beat. He does call a spade a spade, he does not circle the wagon, he says what has to be said. The part about calling a spade a spade could be offensive to hypocrites {now that is intellectual honesty at its best}. Shoot first ask questions later is not his style. That style does not only lose wars but most everything else. The motto should or could be, Tell Me To What Talk Show You Listen To and I Tell You Who You Are. There is no finer resume for any talk show radio,.than it's host and the listeners. Shows like his help to ''Unite Not Divide. Five Stars plus!

Initially, I wasn't overly impressed with this guy. He seemed just another cookie-cutter conservative radio host, albeit a bit more intelligent than the average (highly intelligent when you put him up against the likes of Sean Hannity or Curtis Sliwa). Apparently, he's had an epiphany after it was revealed that the Bush Administration lied us into the Iraq War, and on most broadcasts now, you can hear him tearing relentlessly and indignantly into Bush almost every night. Of course, it's about time somebody from commercial radio did, although it does seem a bit too little, too late. But it is good to finally hear a major radio talk-show host showing at least some spine and not acting as a shill for the Republicans. Coming across people like Lionel or Jay Diamond or Amy Goodman or the people of Air America (for the most part, anyway...I'm still kinda chagrined that Jerry Springer is on there) on the radio dial is like stumbling suddenly upon an oasis of knowledge after trekking along interminably through the arid desert wasteland of banality that is talk-radio.

This guy is the only person in radio who thinks through an issue before coming to a point of view. His all around knowledge makes any dicussion good radio. I can't wait to see where the show goes tonight. One think is for sure, he will not be blaming President Clinton for all the wrong in this world. Hannity and Gallagher et al should pay attention to this guy. They might just learn something. I ahve.
thomasvida 12/03/2004
Lionel is great bless his heart, he's really funny, give him a try. Funny sidekick too, if he gets on a good riff he will crack you up.
Dr. J 10/04/2004
He's not very knowledgeable of the war on terror and other political information. As a physician and military reservist I find him quite ignorant of the facts. Not a very good radion voice either.
stsfan 09/14/2004
Augh! This show bored me to tears. I had more fun thinking of Lionel train sets than listening to this guy prattle on about being in yer feace - his absence from the airwaves on my station however did open up time for them to start broadcasting Phil Hendrie, who is even more lame.
rev_20 09/06/2004
God, he should never have been taken down from WABC's morning drive. He is Radio King. Then comes Curtis and Kuby.
juti5678 07/24/2004
Is his voice supposed to sound good?
brassfemur2000 06/18/2004
I bow down before you mighty one Lionel. You are the last person on the radio with a sense of Humor. Thank God there is at least one radio program left worth listening too...just wish we got you all week and not just the weekend. Radio is Dead minus a few stations. Thanks so much Clear Channel

This guy is a joy to listen to. So smart and funny. Thank you Lionel! Just wish you were on every night instead of just Saturday night in San Franicso area. thank you
