 | Spike65 (13) 06/28/2008 | I believe this was a television mini-series. It started out pretty well then got progressively dumber as the story slowly played out over three nights of prime-time tv. The Steven King book was very good. I was looking forward to this picture and was quite disappointed by the movie. Maybe if I hadn't read the book first it would have been better.

 | MDStewart (12) 01/03/2008 | There's something scary about a clown gone bad, and this is one bad clown, with big drippy teeth. King plays upon the fears of the young and then catapults them into adulthood only to have them revisit those adolescent fears again as grown ups. This thing, IT, comes around every thirty years or so, and it eats children. They stopped it when they were young, but now it's come back, and they must stop it again. What we have here are some wonderful actors, young and old, and Tim Curry as the wild and crazy clown. It has all the elements of a great horror story, that is, until we get to the end. We have spent endless hours dealing with a freaky clown, and then at the end, we must deal with some dopey looking spider in some cave? Come on!! We want to kick the clowns butt!!! The actors are great. John Ritter is awesome. Annette O'Toole is a babe. Richard Thomas is great. And Tim Curry is....Penneywise the clown, aka, IT

 | Jeremy00081 (5) 09/14/2006 | This one was average. I think it could have been better, but I didn't feel like I totally wasted my time after I watched it.

 | edt4 (110) 06/20/2006 | I'm really not much of a fan of Stephen King books, much less the movies that are made from those books, but this was one of the better, more interesting adaptations (also liked Cronenberg's "Dead Zone"). The ensemble cast managed to breathe life into tired stereotypes, and Tim Curry as the Clown actually managed to be effectively terrifying for a TV-diluted-monstrosity. As in every Stephen King production, the dialogue is cloying and contrived (I thought I'd bang my head against the wall if another character said "Beep, beep, Richie!"), but, overall, everything holds together pretty well. The ending actually works here, whereas in the book it was ridiculously pretentious. If you have to watch a Stephen King movie, you could do a lot worse than this one...

 | sabasimba (0) 06/22/2005 | Nowhere NEAR as good as the book. And the casting was terrible, especially John Ritter (rest in peace).

 | Jamie McBain (50) 06/19/2004 | Creepy. Tim Curry as Pennywise The Clown is one of the most scariest clowns in a film.

 | kolby1973 (33) 02/10/2004 | Stephen King has never been my favorite author...and most of the time his movies are just as bad. The case of IT is a little different. The movie would have been so much better if it wasn't made for television. I did the think it had a good creepy vibe..but could have been so much creepier if it was on the big screen. I hope they do a remake of it someday in Hollywood as it has so much more potential than this...
