 | magellan (164) 10/10/2005 | Ed Wade got the axe today, and it was probably time. For the last couple of years, the Phils have had a top five payroll, but have been unable to make the playoffs. You can only do that so many times before people start to say you're not making good decisions.

 | Younoit1 (0) 09/23/2005 | He needs to go. He bumbles around not knowing what he is doing. Even people that don't know baseball know that he makes bad moves.

He has made some dumb trades but he tries. He really does. The way the Phils are playing now it does'nt matter. He has sort of redeemed himself with the acquisition of Urbina. I also think he's ready to make another blockbuster deal. Especially with Wolf getting injured again. Wade knows he's under pressure and this year he will rise to the occasion. The Phils could very well win the East this year.

 | EdWadeSucks (0) 05/06/2005 | Ed Wade is a walking disaster as a GM. His lack of baseball knowledge is disgraceful. He is a prodcut of a Sycophant organization that rewards butt kissing over talent. He has had the job for 7+ years now, the Fillies are NO better now than they were 7 years ago. Their minor league system is still as bare as ever.

 | Collinsone (0) 04/02/2005 | Seven years of heartbreak, seven years of seeing a mediocre team on the field, seven years of uncommitted playoff pushes. Mistake after mistake, poor evaluation after poor evaluation, it has to come to an end. The Phillies will again be in the hunt coming down the stretch this season, and this will be Ed's last chance to blow it. And believe me, He'll trade Howard for a bag of peanuts at the trade deadline and this team will falter at the end by 3 games.

 | bdawknumber20 (0) 02/22/2005 | It would take a miracle for the phillies to win a world series with this guy as their GM. I think he judges talent poorly (cough cough pat burrell), he doesnt want to spend money, he's clearly doesnt care about competing with the rest of the NL east, and he tries to create a false sense of excitement by talking up the team's has-beens and never-will-be's. He should take tips from Joe Banner on how to make a team. GET ED OUT OF PHILLY!!

 | alpepper (21) 01/19/2005 | The Atlanta Braves have won every NL East Title since inception of the Wild Card playoff format. Need I say more [Of course, in the playoffs Atlanta always ends up becomming the equivalent of a Bye Week for the other team]. He was hamstrung early on with a small-market approach (I always contend, there is no such thing as a small market, just small owners). Unfortunately, even with a bigger War Chest, Ed Wade just doesn't seem like the guy who can put it all together for the Phillies.

 | Wavebacker (25) 01/07/2005 | Ed Wade means well and tries hard yet gets mixed results. Trading Schilling and Rolen when they wanted out of Phila. hamstrung Wade into trying to strike the best deal he could for two guys others knew they were trying to unload. On paper, the returning players seemed good, but not all of them panned out. That's what usuaully happens when you make big deals with a star for a collection players. Hiring Bowa was a calculated risk, but one that again, looked good considering he would be returning to Philly. Wade signed Jim Thome, a huge signing and a star player Phila hasnt had in a long time. The Millwood deal and getting Eric Milton were two examples of deals that worked out for Wade. Wade has been at the head of the Phils Farm Clubs, which have been very good and produce talent. We're stocked with pitchers and have enough prospects to trade off for needed players when necessary. Wade does deserve criticism for not hiring Jim Leyland when he was available and wanted to coach the Phils. Wade hasnt been able to get a veteran position player in place who is a proven winner and can show the team how to win. Not Thome, but an old vet who's won a World Series, who's fiesty with a attitude that effects his teammates. Wade also has an odd penchant for signing veteran relievers. He also isnt big on making that key trading-deadline acquisition that can push the team foward.

 | FMorelli (0) 09/10/2004 | Ed Wadew is a joke. He landed this job becasue he would keep his mouth shout when the Phillies budget was extremely low. Now they opened the wallet a little and let Wade sped a few dollars and he is being exposed to the fool that he is. Wade put a fantasy team together rather than a solid fundamental baseball team. As long as Wade remains the Phillies Gm we can forget about getting to the post season.

 | sollosPAC (0) 09/10/2004 | he is the reason for my friends stomach pains. although i do enjoy seeing this friend suffer from time to time, he doesn't deserve the wrath that wade throws upon him, by being a complete pile of suck.

 | Awaskie (0) 09/10/2004 | Unbelievable. Go out and get the Phillies media guide immediately. Open up the page to Ed Wade's transactions. Go ahead, read them. They are a comprehensive list of some of the worst trades in the history of baseball. What do we have left to show for Scott Rolen and Curt Schilling, 2 of baseball's premier players? NOTHING. Polanco is gone after the season and Padilla is a head case not worthy to hold a candle in an unlit room. Ed Wade, the swarmy cretin he is, should be taken out to some dark woods, tied to a tree by his ankles, and have him pelted consistantly by roberto hernandez fastballs. Oh wait, that would be too easy cause Roberto would never be able to hit him, his control is so god awful. These Phillies disappointed an entire city and to me, Ed Wade is responsible. What other GM would acquire Hector Mercado not once... BUT TWICE!!!
