I used Swheat Scoop for 3 years and was very happy with it except for twice. The first time I seen the litter moving and scooped it up to find maggots in the litter. I called the company and they said to throw it out and they sent me 3 coupons to buy more. That sometimes a bug gets in it. Now it has happened again and I did not notice it at first because it was summer and my cat uses the outdoors for summer. When I opened the closet door where the litter was stored there were maggots on the walls and also several bugs. I cleaned up as best as I could and went through my puzzles that were on the shelf and found more bugs and maggots. To make a long story short there are still some there after 8 weeks of constant checking. I will NEVER buy this product again.

So far I'm gathering that people either love this litter or they hate it. I wanted to love it I really did but I wouldn't recommend this litter without throughly telling them what I didn't like about. While shopping for litter I was looking for a flushable litter thinking I'd scoop more often in turn there wouldn't be any odor.I was so excited to start to run low on my old litter and finally buy Swheat Scoop, I wanted to be able to flush waste away everyday, instead of waiting for the garabage to get full so I can bag it up and toss it all together.I liked using scoopable clay litter instead of regular litter. When I first switched over to Swheat Scoop I liked it until after a few times of scooping the smell of urine still infested the box. It says to change ALL litter after a month, it hasnt been a month yet and it STINKS really bad!! I like to think I'm a "thirfty gal" and get my moneys worth (this litter is more expensive of course) so I would hate to throw so much away before I really need to.(as you should put 3in of litter in.)I have a large litter box. I will finish up this box, but I do not expect to buy another. I use liners in my box so I no trouble at all with it sticking to the box. It clumps very well (when you scoop it sometimes very little clumps crumble and remain in the box) but it amazed me how big the clumps were! I give it props for clumping power and its ability to be flushed, but odor control is something they really need to work on, reguadless of what people maybe feeding their cats, or how often they scoop. This product is a great idea but it needs to be made for the average american people who give their cats the food they can afford and scoop as often as they feel the need to.They shouldn't have to scoop multiple times a day to get the results they want out of such a product. It's an awful chore no matter what, no one wants to do it more than once a day.I think you can scoop 12 times a day and it would still stink. I'm very disappointed to say in my opinion when it come to ordor control it's a poor product being that I was looking to rid myself of odor. Scoopable clay did the job, and that is what I'll continue to use. :(

I love this stuff!! Every other cat litter on the market that does not use wheat is unsafe for the cats and humans. I like that I don't have to worry about what is in my lungs or my cats lungs as she goes digging in her litter (or occasionally playing in it). I've never had a problem whatsoever using this product. I use the crappy cheap scoops and it still works great. I prefer the multi cat formula over the normal, because it clumps better, but if I had to use the normal, I still would. I've never had a bug problem or anything else I've been seeing in the bad reviews. I've had bug problems in the past with a litter box on the screened porch that I did not keep properly cleaned. I had previously allowed that one to stay soiled and it had bug problems no matter what litter was used. I love that this brand has no smell, unlike the nasty perfumed brands. You never know there is a cat in the house, because it does not smell like kitty dirt or the obvious smell of scented litter. I switched to Swheat Scoop from Nature's Miracle, because there is no scent except the natural smell of the wheat. If you care about your cats and your own health you'll strongly consider using this brand.

It is unable to keep the cat odours contained, doesn't clump the urine. Also we had started to notice some weird little bugs crawling around our clean apartment. So we went to explore the source of the outbreak of well MAGGOTS, turns out this stuff is heaven for them. This is by far the worse litter I have ever used, I would rather let my cat use wood pellets over this. If I could rate it 0 I would.
Quackingup 09/30/2009
I am being driven out of the living room by this stuff. It does nothing to control odor. It doesn't clump, instead it all congeals at the bottom of the box and has to be tediously scraped out. It tracks about worst than clay. Our puppy however loves it, convenient cat poop sandwiches. Going back to clay until I can find something better. Very disappointed.

I have been using Swheat Scoop for many years. Recently, I found the litter pieces are smaller and finer grounded producing a lot of power. I have 3 cats, after they used the box there were major tracking problem. The power got all over the cats' paws as well as their faces. The power was all over the house on the furniture on our clothes... and one of our cats has asthma, she is coughing more now. So, I tried sieving the litter before putting into the box and discovered that 1/3 of the bag of litter is fine power. I guess it probably make more profit for the company to produce more bags with less litter and more residue. I love Swheat Scoop but it gives me too much work and I really don't think inhaling the wheat dust do any good to me and my cats' lungs. I will keep looking for better solutions, otherwise, keep sieving out the power :(... overall it WAS a good product.By the way, please do not flush cats' waste in to the water waste system. As cat waste contains a unique parasite called T. gondii that can harm sea life. That is why flushing it down the toilet is not a good idea. This message was on ABC news years ago, I gather it was not emphasized enough through the media...

I was thrilled to find this after the Tidy Cats scoop litter suddenly seemed to add loads of perfume to their product-poor cat always smelled of it and I am allergic to heavy perfume like that. Why do companies think we like all this overscented crap? Unfortunately, we have had mice problems before...I had been wondering about mice eating this shweatscoop-it's food for them, I thought..right? Long and short is if you have any mice problems don't get this. Cat has caught mice each night for the past 3 nights and I just found a dead one in the litter box. EEEEEUUUUUU. I started becoming suspicious when she kept going down to her litter box doing the stalking "cat on high alert for mice intrusion" detail. So just got rid of it and am trying other litter . I am bummed because it was not fragrant yet kept the cat odor completely out. There was a corn based product but I would think the mice would like that too....If you have no rodent problem it's great..but i think you would be tempting them.
fridakitty 04/25/2009
I very much like that this litter is flushable, however, it doesn't seem to control odor at all. Fresh litter seems to stink after just a couple of days (and I scoop it out twice a day), and to top it off it doesn't clump very well. I'll keep looking for something better.
LittleTiger 01/04/2009
For those of you who are having difficulty scooping Swheat, it may be the scoop itself that's causing the problem. I bought one from PetSmart called the Litter Lifter and I tell you, it has to be the best scooper I've ever had. It's very heavy duty, slides under clumps like butter and even picks up the smallest of clumps due to the design of the slots(triangular shaped). It's approx. $9.00 plus tx, and will probably be the last litter scoop you'll need to buy. All my other ones cracked or broke at the handle. This one is extremely durable. Worth the price!!
annoyedbyu 12/28/2008
I've been using this litter for over a year now and it has made a WORLD of difference. I don't have the 'sticking' problem because I use those disposable paper litter boxes and throw the whole thing away once a week. Also, I make sure to scoop 1-2 times/day. In my opinion it tracks just as much as the clay stuff...it just smells a TON better.
marilynsue 12/22/2008
I have used it for over a year with 4 different cats at 4 different times. After reading all the reviews, I'd like to offer an opinion. The smell of the urine when mixed with the litter might depend on what your cat eats. I don't feed my cats anything with fish in it. When I do, the smell in the house and litter box is horrible. Think about it. It might not be the litter that is the problem, it could be the waste going in it. For kittens/cats who do not use the box, it could be because the animal is ill. When a cat starts going outside the box, it could be a sign that urination/defecation is painful and it associates the pain with the litter box. Horrible urine smells are signs of infection and/or diabetes. Smelly poop can be the result of worms, intestinal infections, intolerance to elements in the food, many things. If the litter is the same, and the results are different, it's most likely the variable...which would be the cat or the cat food. I have researched symptoms like unusual smells coming from my cat and never once did I read about litter boxes...it was always a sign of something not right with the digestive system of the animal.
lapachka19 12/11/2008
I have been using this litter for about 1 month. I switched to Swheat Scoop because the litter I used (Fresh Step) had nasty dust, smelled like perfume, and it would begin to smell after a few days even if I cleaned it 5 times a day. Gave my boyfriend allergy and when using this litter I would always end up smelling like it after cleaning the box. Also didn’t like the fact that my cats smelled like the litter after using it. Since we live in a small condo and have only one bathroom which we have to share with the cats (I have 2 cats) the bathroom is in our bedroom, so we would always smell it and it was real bad. I finally got fed up and heard about this Wheat Scoop litter and decided to give it a try. I don’t know why people complain about this litter. Ever since I got Swheat Scoop I have been nothing but happy. It does not smell, my cats love it took only 2 days to fully switch to the new litter, it does not stick much to the bottom of the litter box like everyone says it does. It sticks but I would not say like glue. I do not smell litter anymore when going to sleep and the nasty pee smell after a cat uses the litter box is also gone. I tried different litters for many years and so far Swheat Scoop seems to be the best to me. The only downside I have found to this litter is that it tracks more than other litter, but I vacuum daily inside the bathroom and weekly in the whole condo so it is not much of a problem for me. I do recommend this litter but I do agree it may not be for everyone. Just have to try and see what works best for your kitties as well as yourself. Good Luck

My cat loves this litter. Yeah it tracks a little and it can stick to the box but it's got a great smell, it's good for the environment, and it's flushable. He loves it, I love it.

This is the best litter in the world!!!! No smell. Safe for cats. Good for the world.
kgplucker 09/29/2008
The odor is terrible. Even with fastidious cleaning and baking soda. Also, one of my cats won't use it. She started peeing in other places of the house. Thanks Swheat.....

I originally loved the idea of this litter. It clumps well, but it also clumps like glue to the bottom of the litter pans. Their website says to spray cooking spray on the bottom of the pans before filling but it really doesn't make a difference. In addition, it does not control odor at all, in fact I think it makes it worse. For folks with one cat maybe it's fine, but for multiple cat owners, it does not control odor in my opinion and not all cats like it. I've tried their multiple cat formula but it doesn't seem different than their regular. I won't be using it anymore.
NaturalProduct sForMyPets 09/19/2008
My cat's former litter formula changed, at the very same time I had taken him to the vet because his skin was breaking out and scabbing over. The vet called it "feline acne." I had noticed the former litter began to smell like cheap perfume, so I decided to swith litters and purchased SwheatScoop. Within a few days my cat's skin was back to normal. I told the vet, and he said he didn't think the litter had been the problem. I have swithched vets. I love this product!

UPDATE: I don't flush cat litter away anymore because of the serious consequences to other animals. See my warning against flushing cat litter elsewhere in this topic in the item Clump'N Flush.ORIGINAL COMMENT: Con: Doesn't clump until urine hits bottom of box, and then sticks like glue to bottom. Have to scrape to get it off, and it's hard to get all of it off. Will never use again. Pro: Flushable, clumps. Alternative product: World's Best Cat Litter. Also flushable, clumps much better and doesn't stick. Made from corn, so is biodegradable.
nmiller1 07/11/2008
I think it's a great product. As stated before making sure to have enough litter in the box is important. But our cat loves the litter, it covers oders well and can be flushed, reducing enviromental pollution all around! awesome!
zoesah 06/05/2008
I'm surprised at the reviews here because I have had nothing but a great experience with this litter (4-5 weeks now). It clumps GREAT and I have had almost no odor. Variations may occur due to cat and owner. If a cat pees on the outside of the litter box, it doesn't mean it's a bad litter, it just means the cat doesn't like it - get over it and try another. And some cats smell more than others. Also, I use a top-entry litter box (looks like a storage container) that collects most of the litter on the feet on the lid. I've used this for over 5 years and proves to be the cleanest (besides keeping the dog away from the tootsie-rolls). Because this is deeper, I use an entire box, which allows any litter to clump better. For those that use a thin layer, well that is the owner's faux pas, no the litter's. Use more! (did you really NEED someone to tell you that?) As for bugs, well, I'll keep a look out. I haven't noticed anything yet. ...AND...bugs don't go invade flour. Flour comes with flour beetle larvae already in it (yes, all flour!). This I learned in entomology class. If it's old, then they have time to hatch, thus you have FLOUR BEETLES in your flour. Keep it in an air-tight container and don't let it sit around for years.

Switched to Swheat Scoop because I liked the environmental/natural aspects of the product. Had used from Ever Clean for the previous 3 years. With Swheat Scoop, I had a HORRIBLE urine odor filling most of my house IMMEDIATELY. And by that I mean I had horrendous odor problems before I'd even switched completely to the Swheat Scoop; I was still blending the two litters together for transition!!! Thought one of my two cats had peed on the floor ... tried cleaning the whole area around the box with Nature's Miracle ... finished switching to nothing but the Swheat Scoop ... finally figured out that everything was great right after I'd scoop out the box but the stench would return instantly after the first visit from a kitty. Returned the rest of the bag to Petco for a full refund. Swheat Scoop is no better than having your cat do its business in an empty box.
ohhhhhdooogggg gy 05/09/2008
BUYER BEWARE!!! Swheat Scoop is made from fusarium infested wheat. This wheat is non-marketable and highly toxic. Because cat litters are not regulated Swheat scoop can get away with this.
ammelton 04/23/2008
I switched to Shweat scoop from Tidy Cats Small Spaces litter in an effort to be "green" We have 3 kitties and throw away a lot of used litter weekly. I started out by mixing the two litters to get my cats to transition to it and the transition went very smoothly! The litter does a good job of covering most odor. I have one cat that doesn't cover his poop, so of course that's going to smell. The litter doesn't clump very well, but it's decent enough. We haven't tried flushing it yet, but we will eventually. I have had no problems with the litter sticking to the bottom of the litter pan because we thoroughly scoop twice a day. If we didn't, I could see how sticking to the bottom could be a major problem. We have a cat with respiratory problems, and he has had no issue with this litter. One last note, the biggest thing that made me switch was when I read an online review about kitties licking their paws and potentially getting the clay litter into their digestive system! That could cause problems! I LOVE THIS LITTER!
vikiSS 03/26/2008
Kitty adjusted right away because it was similar in texture to his previous favorite clay litter. I switched because clay litter had bentonite in it which may cause many problems. Anyway, Swheat was easy to adjust kitty to and I found that it clumps pretty good (However you do have to fill the box 3 inches exactly and you will have no problems with things getting to the bottom). Those people who scoop everyday will love Swheat. I didn't try waiting a week like some people do, so I don't know if it's as effective then..but you're going to have to try and find out. It's flushable, clumps, and kitty likes it.
mycats5 03/06/2008
I really liked this litter. It clumped well, controlled odors pretty well, is light weight, easy to handle and had no dust. I also liked that it is biodegradable and flushable. My complaint and the reason I had to switch litter is because I became infested with some type of very small fly. I am now trying the corn based litter and I hope I do not have anything hatch out of it...............................

We have a cat with a compromised immune system. He is a 5 year cancer survivor. We had used one of the clay based clumping cat litters for about 2 years. It contains chemicals, dyes and fragrances. Our cat developed respiratory infections that the doctor could not cure. We read about this litter and made the change. Within 2 weeks we saw a big improvement in his condition. Now 4 weeks later he has no signs of the respiratory problems. Your wheat based litter is great. Good odor control, clumps well, and is flushable. The other great thing is that when we have our carpets steam cleaned the clay litter cannot be effectively extracted from the carpet. This litter does not have that problem as it does not stick to thing like clumpping clay litter does. It does need to be deeper as my cat is a digger and it will stick to the bottom. 5 stars for a great product.
catheck 02/07/2008
We love this eco-friendly cat litter and had been using it for about 7 months. However, over the course of several months we developed an ENORMOUS MOUSE PROBLEM in our basement where our ferret lives. We had several litter boxes in the corners and at first thought the mice were eating the ferret food only to realize that they were gorging on the wheat grain particles. I'm suprised it took us this long to figure it out, but it is a fantastic food source to mice. And the mice population explosion coincided with our switching from newspaper based litter to this one. So if you already have a problem with mice, DO NOT use this litter.
traviboy04 02/04/2008
I REALLY enjoy this cat litter. As a very passionate environmentalist, it suits my lifestyle bust most of all, my cat doesnt mind it. I will admit that she has a much stronger affinity for clay clumping litter but then I would have to deal with our environmental problem. If you didnt know, clumping litter is extremely bad for the environment.....its called strip mining people, look it up! Also, I no longer use one plastic bag a day to throw out the clumps/feces. The clumps are fairly solid but you do have to be extra cautious when cleaning out the box. I have found that putting about 5 inches of litter will stop it from going to the bottom. This way, you can get your scooper under the clump and not worry about some of it breaking away. If you have a problem with the smell of wheat litter, add some baking soda into your cats litter box. I highly recommend it. Have been using for one month!

I heard the commercial and had to try it. I have two cats and after two days I always have odor. I am happy to say...it does what it says. I scoop once a day and put into the toilet and flush!!! yeah! This is day 5 and I have not changed the litter!!! I know...I can't beleive it either...A big YES...I definately would recommend!

When i got the cat, i used Swheat Scoop. It wasnt really working and my kitten was pooing outside. Hers alittle bit of tips that made things better. 2 inches of litter, 2 litter boxs (per cat), keep in privacy spots, give treats when she/he goes inside, when she/he goes outside clean up special cleaner you get at pet shop. Hope this helps!
Bellajgw 10/29/2007
We bought this when we brought our kittens home with us for the first time, and we had no problems with it. No real smell, loved that we could flush it if we needed to, loved that it clumped pretty well (though sometimes it does get stuck to the bottom of the pan (easy fix with a pan liner). Tried a few different kinds afterwards and hated them (tracked everywhere, horrible smell). Sure, the wheat particles get on the floor, you can't stop that, but it's wheat, people...not shards of glass. We got a very large litter rug for under the pan and that solved that problem too. Love the litter, decent price, cats love it..what more can I say?
Jijay 09/30/2007
My kitten is not using it. We don't know what to do. We have tried putting it in private spots, away from her food, we clean it twice a day, we make sure there's enough and we empty, rinse and fill her litter every other week. We are thinking of changing her litter box and the type of litter but we are not sure if that will make things worse.I appreciate any comments or ideas. Desperate Danniel
tameeria 09/26/2007
Just as with World's Best, my cats refused to use this litter. I guess the biodegradable and flushable type isn't doing it for them.
msmagooo 09/12/2007
I used to use a clay type clumping litter that was like sand but found it tracked thru the house too much and was smelly (perfumy and cat pee) although it was supposed to be "less tracking/low dust" and "low odor". I bought Swheat Scoop b/c it was non-toxic, made of wheat, biodegradable etc. I clean my litter boxes daily (2 cats) and find that Swheat Scoop tracks less and when I clean the box, it is odorless now (other than a faint smell of wheat/sawdust)! No stinky perfumy cat pee smells! The only adjustment my cats had to the change was when the boxes were washed out and Swheat Scoop added, one of them had a little "snack" before starting to use the box, which I'm ok with, it's edible (he's no longer eating it). I always put atleast 3 inches of litter in the box, so rarely do I have a problem with it sticking to the bottom, and the clumps don't fall apart when I clean the box - I find that I waste less litter b/c it is easier to get all the dirty litter out of the box in one clump. The clay type litter always left behind some soiled sand and stunk up the box more resulting in the box having to be dumped completely far too often. It also cuts down on my weekly waste as it is easily flushed down the toilet (it disolves in th water after about 10-20 mins). The only better solution would be to train my cats to actually use the toilet and flush.
2catstoplease 08/27/2007
It leaves sharp little shards on the floor when they run through the house and that doesn't feel good on my feet if I get up during the night. Also, some little bugs hatched out of it and now I have these little flying black gnat-like bugs everywhere - weevils? It's only a matter of time before they lay eggs and multiply in my flour or somewhere. I need to try something else.
hideo 05/14/2007
Had high hopes as a more economical alternative to World's Best Cat Litter. Clumping is a major problem. I have to SCRAPE the bottom of the litter box to get everything out. I will stick with the more expensive, but much better World's Best Cat Litter
Cassieniccole 04/20/2007
I had really high hopes when I purchased this litter. I have two cats, and decided to try SwheatScoop in one of their three litter boxes. They had no problems using it at all, and I was fairly pleased with how easy they adjusted to it. However the next morning when I went to clean out the box I had the single worst experience I have ever had with a cat litter. I had used this litter in a sifting box. The litter clogged the grating in the sifter and I had to sit and clean out every one of the holes with a plastic spoon(yuck!). Also the mush where my cats had urinated had a very strong ammonia smell. This litter is so disgusting. I am very disappointed.
debbla 03/23/2007
non-toxic to human, pet and earth and flushable! how much better can you get?
imbordinwa 03/21/2007
This product is a waste of time, and money. I can not believe you would stand by a product that does not work. For one I was told by the sales clerk that this would help odor controll, and be scoopable (Bull shit!) If the only thing this product does is to keep my cat safe, why is it I had a cat live for 15 years on a different litter that the clerk said was bad for my cat? All this product did after following the directions was make a clumpy, gooey, cement mix on the bottom of my new cat litter box, and ruined it. Damn it fix your product!!!!!
momblor 03/18/2007
We, all four of our family members, love this cat litter! I like the fact that it is natural, and biodegrades in landfills. There is no odor, very little tracking, it clumps well, it's clean. I just can't say enough good things about it. Two of our cats, one about 7 mos. old, and the other almost a year, took to it immediately. Our older cat, about 4, who is very set in her ways, needed us to do the recommended procedure of 3 inches of Swheat Scoop, and almost one inch of the old litter on top before she would use it, but now seems to be just fine with it. This is really the best litter yet, by far. We've been using it for about 5 days now. Some people's reviews said they had trouble with urine cementing the litter to the bottom of the box. I think if you follow directions, and measure how much litter you are putting in by standing a ruler up in the box in several places, or actually mark the 3 inch mark in several places around the sides of the litter box, you won't have a problem such as urine sticking to the bottom. I always thought I was putting in about 3 inches with our other litters, but I never put in anywhere near that much before, I realize now! Measuring really helps! I think you need to keep enough litter in the box and that probably won't be a problem. We haven't had any trouble with it whatsoever so far. I recommend this litter very highly!
PackerCatty 02/27/2007
I liked using this because it lasted long and was natural--but I found my cats were tracking it all over the rugs, and some of it that they kicked out of the box landed on the bathroom floor, mixed with water spilled from shower drippings, etc, forming a cakey paste. I had to stop using it due to the mess it created.

I am a very eco-conscious individual as well as a huge proponent of organic foods. I cannot yet rate Swheat Scoop as I just bought it tonite so I will give it an "OK" for now. However, I've read the reviews and have a few comments. First, I am good to myself regarding cleaning the litter box because I use a liner that is at least 2 mil. Second, I always put at least 3 inches of litter in the box. That's what helps with odor control because cats have enough to bury waste in. Third, I clean the litter box every day without fail. Finally, odors have a lot to do with what cats eat and drink. I feed my cats dry organic food and since they are indoor cats and are not as physically active, they get the formula that contains less protein and more fruits and veggies. My cats drink the same water I do....distilled. I never give them milk and I never feed them canned food for dental hygiene reasons. Given all of that, I will be curious to see if there is an awful odor like some people have reported. I am excited about the fact this litter is eco-friendly and hopefully none of my 3 cats will have a wheat allergy. JShepard, Glendale AZ

I have 3 rabbits and have been using Swheat Scoop for about 5 years. As long as the litter box is cleaned regularly (every day or two)there is no odor. Clumping cat litter is not safe for use with rabbits and Swheat Scoop has BY FAR been the best product I've found for using with rabbits.
CrashBandicoot 10/24/2006
I started using Swheat Scoop over 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Up until then I had tried every brand of litter on the market, but wasn't happy with any of them. I wanted to use a natural litter without all the chemicals. If they're not good for your cat then they can't be good for people either. When I introduced my cats to S.S. they took to it right off without even mixing it with the previous brand of litter. Now here's what I learned after the first 2 weeks of using S.S. I was about to dump out all the litter boxes and replace with new, but the litter didn't smell nor had it changed color like all the other types I've used before. I waited another week, still smells and looks like good litter. Week after week went by and this stuff still looks like good litter. That was 1 1/2 yrs. ago and I still haven't dumped out a litter box. This litter doesn't go bad! I just keep adding new to the boxes to keep at least 3" deep. S.S. is also low dust. To reduce tracking of any kind of litter I recommend using a top entrance litter box. The store bought one was too small for our cats so we made ours out of large tote storage boxes. Again our cats took to these right off. Just one more thing. I've heard so many sad stories of people giving up their cat because they had developed an allergy to them. It may not be their cat but the cat litter they're using. Please give Swheat Scoop a try first. It's best to vacuum carpets and furniture to remove residue left from the previous litter when you make the switch. Swheat Scoop has made taking care of our cats so much easier that we have adopted 2 more for a total of 5.
Harpy 10/19/2006
Does not control odor well and, as has been said a few times, clumps all the urine at the bottom of the box. Have to scrape it all out. I'll never use this product again.

Urine does not clump until it firmly adheres to the bottom of the litter box; consequently, it tkaes a lot of time to remove the litter from the bottom. Aside from this major flaw, it works as they claim which is why I gave it a 2 instead of a 1.

In our cattery we feel that this is the best cat litter. It is way better than feline pine in odor control and the cats actually like it. It is fine, low dust, high odor control, with no harmful chemicals.

Well, It's been 4 days now since I started using Swheat scoop and I LOVE it. I have multiple cats and have been searching for a great litter alternative to clay. Clay seems to have a strong odor and you can smell the ammonia after a few days. Also, clay litter is carcinogenic for people and cats. I gave the corn cobb litter a fair try for 2 weeks. I did like it, but you could really smell the feces which was horrible, even with scooping every day. There was no ammonia smell with this litter, which was a big plus. One cat appeared to not like this litter and was urinating outside of the box. After 2 weeks, I decided to try another litter. Years ago, I tried Swheat scoop and didn't like it because it seemed very sticky and messy to clean although I had recently read that the company had resolved this issue. So, I tried this litter again 4 days ago. I also bought citramax as it seems to dehydrate the feces quickly, but I don't like this litter by itself. I do like my litter boxes, with fresh kitty super thick liners (2.0 mil) by Royal Pet which hold up really great to cat claws. So, what I did was put about one inch of citramax on the bottom to the litterboxes in the liner, then poured about 3 inches of Swheat scoop on top of the citramax. It eventually mixes together within a day as the cats use it. So far I find absolutely no smell at all (even my very picky husband seems to find it pleasing as he is the biggest complainer of any offensive smell), except a light wheat/citrus sent. I scoop every day and find the clumps are very hard and easy to scoop and do not stick to the liner (clumping is still perfect even with the two litters mixed together). The feces are dried out and have just a slight smell when scooping. This is a wonderful combination and I call it a miracle litter. I hope that it stays a great litter as more time goes by. I do change out my litter boxes entirely once a week as natural litters can get moldy from what I have read and I don't want to take a chance of that happening. Anyway, so far so good!!

I love this stuff! I have used every type of litter known: scoopables, crystal, pine pellets... and this is the best for multiple cats! If I just had one cat, I would prefer the crystals. But for multicats and scoopable, flushable, biodegradeable - it is great. I read some complained how hard it got... that is one of the reasons why I love it! when I scoop, it barely breaks up, but when it hits the water in the toilet, it breaks right back down to it's small granules! And as for "I can still smell my cat when he just did his business...".... tell me what litter makes it go away within a second of time!
