LeadingEdge Personnel will promise to assist with permanent positions search and will then have you stuck with only underpaid temp positions. They had me going until I finally looked on my own for a serious job. They failed to ever contact me about any leads but constantly advertise permanent positions. When I would call them about these new postings, no one would ever return my calls with an update. See, the thing is recruiting agencies have a quota of new "recruits" they must bring on board and most of them reach those numbers by advertising fake positions and misleading people in dire need of finding new employment. Temp assignments bring in more money in the long run than a finder's fee for a new permanent employee, so they stick to what is financially more beneficial to them. I love it when I read such claims as "We are in the people business" ... No, they are in the business of making money, like every other business.
