Louis Davout (1770-1823)

Perhaps Napolean's greatest marshall, Louis Davout was undefeated over nearly 20 years of constant warfare.

Davout went undefeated. I would say he was even better than Napoleon. Napoleon should have sent this guy to deal with Wellington in Spain. He should have also followed this guy's advice during the retreat from Russia.

Only Napoleon understood Napoleonic warfare better than Davout. The Iron Marshal was negotiated with rather than attacked at the end of the hundred days campaign, and with good reason. Nosey Wellington knew the havov Davout wouldcause the allies if they were to fight him
