If General "Stonewall" had the wealth and troop level of the North the South would have won in a rout. There would have been half the casualties because the war would have ended much earlier. Unrivaled in his ability to prepare and dissect the enemy.

Great leader of men and was able to handle both strategy and tactics. He was not a personable fellow and was not unlike that warm human being, Oliver Cromwell.

It takes some guts to just sit on a horse right smack in the battle. The usual, rich, brilliant, smart General from the south.

He gets a three because no military strategy was really used by this man. He was all about motivation and fear. He could get an armies spirit up better than anyone. I would rank him easily in the top ten greatest soldiers of all time. Extremely talented soldier. However, he had no strategy such as Rommel, Alexander, Hannible, and Lee. He was just a good soldier.

He was a great warrior, yes. But could he have lead the entire army?

Stonewall was an incredibly disciplined man, yet still had the utmost respect from those who followed him. Its hard to put those two together in any occupation.

One of the greatest of all time. Anyone who thinks the Civil War was really about slavery has no idea what they are talking about.

Not only a strong military leader, but a devout Christian. His evangelistic efforts were multi-cultural. Since history is written by those who win the wars, most people have no idea just what the Civil War was really about. The South had a lot of fine people, just like today. Stonewall Jackson was one of the best.
