Quite frankly, despite his skill, I always thought this guy was kind of a meathead. One of those QB's that never really shed that "I'm a god." mentality from high school. However, growing up in Toronto I saw the Bills on TV all the time. Their great dynasty (and it was great - Superbowl rings or not)was in part due to him. In part - he had some good wingers on that team. A couple of them, Bruce Smith and Thurman Thomas, were probably the true keys to that teams success. Plus Cornelius Bennett, Andre Reed, Darryl Talley, Frank Reich, the list just goes on. Oh, and my favorite, special teams maniac Steve Tasker. That guy would have run through a minefield to stop a return.

Jim had it all, size, strength, ability, and brains. Besides being a very good leader and player, he is a good person and still lives in the Buffalo area though he grew up in PA.

Jim was the best thing to ever happen to Buffalo. He was and is a class act. I have never seen anyone lead a team like he did...no deficit was to great to overcome (even if he was on the sidelines watching due to an injury - i.e., the greatest comeback in NFL history, Thanks Frank!)... Off the field, I never saw him turn away a child...he was always gracious and caring to the little fans. I was there when he walked on the field, was there when he said good bye and was there when he got his rightful place in the Hall of Fame....

I always knew the Bills would do OK with Kelly as quarterback. We sure miss him.

A lot of physical skills. No evidence of leadership or football brains. Couldn't win a coin toss.
