Sylvester Croom is not much of a head coach at all.He is a great, and I do mean great, running backs coach, but he just sucks as a head coach.I am a die-hard M-State fan,and I attended the West Virginia,Jacksonville State,Arkansas, and the ole miss games and I can tell you,he cannot motivate his players. After the 2000 season, Jackie Sherrill had three years to win and then he was either going to have to resign or be fired.I believe Croom should have one more season to prove himself, and if State doesn't get more than three lousy wins he should resign or be fired. Go State!!

Congratulations on being the first black head coach in the SEC, but you won't be there for long if you don't start winning.

Not sure about the record and all, but I like his style. He does a lot off the field to get these guys going, including academics, personal life, etc. Plus it's always nice to see a coach get rid of a star player because he's a jerk who's failing his classes.

A good coach can occasionally make a bad team win. I'm still waiting... Wait no longer doubters. The Bulldogs are right on schedule.

I realize he doesn't have much to work with but to lose to Vandy and Maine is disgraceful. A good coach can occasionally make a bad team win. I'm still waiting...

Too early to tell

Where's Jimbo Fisher? Why don't we get Maine and Vandy to rate coach Croom?
AG Mines 09/18/2004
too soon to rate.
GIS 09/15/2004
Give me a break, let him coach more than one game at Missy State before being rated!

Sly Croom has brought much more to Mississippi State than just being it's football coach. He done more in 9 months uniting the races in a State considered the most racially fractured in the country than any man in the last 25 years. He will become a great coach for his integrity, dedication to young men becoming true scholar athletes, and setting a standard of moral and ethical character not often seen in college sports.

Well one of the comments here obviously comes from a Bama fan. Croom is a god cristian man with the skills morals and will to lead State ,or anyone else for that matter, to graat things! Hia recruiting will be the next great supprise to all who take notice ovr the next three years.

Sylvester Croom is the coach a lot of teams wish they'd a signed a year or two ago. State got him and he is the perfect guy for the job. All the Bulldog Faithful are behind him and we know Croom is taking State back to the glory days like the late 90's in Starkville.
