Pretty good. I was trying to find a cheap fare to Cairo and was super surprised to find one so low. I booked it immediately. I had no problems with my flight at all, pretty enjoyable and a bargain for the price. I had to make a change when I was coming back and it was pretty affordable. The customer service was amazing, I talked with a man named Bill who went over many options with me and found me the cheapest flight. He talked to me for 45 minutes making sure I understand everything. I was pretty stressed out from everything, so I really appreciated it.

One complaint thought, my suitcases really got banged up! One of my handles was broken and it was really a pain to lug onto the trolley thing all by myself as it was huge. Thankfully some guys nearby saw me struggling and helped. :]

I hope this review will spare other families the suffering we had, My wife and two kids (5 and 8) was suppose to travel on BMI for the first time last week on 6-23-2009, the ticket was booked via continental airlines, going out from Houston on continental and stopping at London/Heathrow airport to switch flights to BMI leaving from London to Cairo, the continental plane made it on time and my wife was in line to get her boarding pass for BMI almost one hour before the plane leaves, the service was very slow and the representative was very rude. when my wife tried to explain to her that she needs to catch her plane, the rep kept interrupting saying “you are good, you are gonna be fine”, the rep kept calling other people in line based on their flights and finally when she had time to look at my wife ticket she said, you are gonna have to take the next flight because its less than 30 mins for take off and we wont allow you on this plane, when my wife told her she was there 60 mins before and that she talked to her and was waiting based on the fact that the rep says every thing is fine, she just ignored her at first and then was very rude and told her that the best she can do is to put her on another plane that leaves in 7 hrs and that she can make my wife pay for that if she wants!! When asked for a supervisor to complain the rep said you can’t complain since you don’t have a British passport!! She was very rude and discriminatory and offered no apologies or even sympathy; she caused a lot of suffering for my wife and two young kids who had to be in the airport for an additional 7 hrs after a long 10.5 hrs trip from Houston, also the alternative flight she offered arrived at a different airport in cairo, causing a lot of headache to family that was waiting in the wrong airport. We also learned that there were a lot of passengers on this flight that were denied there boarding pass. Apparently BMI overbooked the flight and used lame excuses to delay as much passengers as possible from making it on time.
This is not an honest company, I don’t trust them, it’s the first and last time we are flying with them, good luck to all.

I am very dissatisfied with British Midland Airways. I will try to avoid flying with bmi, and I would highly recommend people to stay away from this airline. Unless you want your baggage to get lost several times during the trip and your flight to get delayed by 12 hours... Good luck flying with British Midland Airways!

I've had a bad experience on every BMI flight I've taken and will avoid them if at all possible in the future. Frequent (inconvenient) schedule changes, rude staff, dirty planes, non-existent customer services. To be avoided.

BMI saved the day and surpassed my expectations this weekend, and absolutely blew American Airlines out of the water on both service and overall quality. My flight from Manchester to Chicago on American Airlines was cancelled, so they placed me onto a BMI flight leaving around the same time. In retrospect, I'm very grateful that they did, because I have a new favorite for the transatlantic haul. BMI's sparkling new Airbus was a pleasant contrast to the aging and failing Boeing that I sat in on my AA flight. The BMI staff were cheerful and stayed completely professional while still seeming to be having a genuinely good time during the flight. (I could detect suppressed giggles on some of their in-flight announcements) Food was actually food. Chicken breast with leek sauce, a roll with real butter, a decent little green salad, some cheese, crackers, and actual genuine ice cream made with pronounceable ingredients, followed a few hours later by a warm Indian korma pita sandwich and a Kit Kat. It was a dream compared to the cheap processed and artificial crap I was served by American. (overcooked rigatoni floating limpidly in red water plus other unmentionably terrible vending-machine junk) The little details were the small reminders that BMI actually cares about making the experience enjoyable. Their paper napkins were the high-quality kind that almost feel like cloth, and their pillows had real cloth pillowcases, as opposed to the papery gauze garbage that AA uses. The time flew past on the BMI flight because of their top-notch in-flight entertainment, with their personal video screens and over 20 channels of movies and television. Compare this with the communal static-laden screens with a single program that AA offered. I only wish that more airlines would pay attention to detail the way BMI does. American's cost-cutting has gone so far that they've killed any pleasure that might come from flying, but BMI still gets it. I will fly them again whenever I have the chance.

I have flown across the Atlantic on most of the major airlines and last year, flying from Manchester (UK) to Minneapolis thru Northwest Airlines we were put on BMI for the Manchester to Chicago leg of the journey. I am not a business traveller so always fly economy and if the level of standard of service we received in economy on BMI is anything to go by I would never want to fly business class with any other airline. The food was fantastic, the legroom was more than ample, the staff were incredibly attentive, the individual tvs whereby you could watch a movie or cameras from the front or underside of the plane were brilliant. Irrespective of cost in the future (and we only flew with them that day because they were the cheapest)we will always try to fly BMI. All the other major carriers should take good notice of how an airline service should be. I even wrote to BMI after we landed and got home thanking them on a first class in economy service and I've never been moved to write to any company about anything before.
