In comparison to FF X, i'm gonna have to say this was the bastard child. Had similar elements to FF X but not enough to rate it highly 'in my books' (hah i dont think ive used that before). So here's my rating; 3/5. Not bad, but could so easily be much improved on. -Aidan.

Final Fantasy X-2 is a must have for anyone who has completed Final Fantasy X and been curious about the ending In a twist on the old "brave knight sets off to rescue the princess" cliche, Lady Yuna has become a Spherehunter in order to find out what happened to the man she loves after he disappeared. She is accopanied by Rikku, a former guardian, and Paine, a relative newcomer who we don't know much about; the all female cast in missions tells me that perhaps they were trying to appeal to a broader base of players.
Fans of the series will still find many of the familiar spells and abilities that they have come to know and love. There are also many new abilities found on unique Dressspheres (the clothing that determines what abilities a character can learn while it is being worn) that the party collects. Some of these abilities may seem a little absurd (the Songstress Dresssphere, need I say more?) but they are none the less unique.
While I maintain that Final Fantasy X told a better story, the second half told a good story but for a different reason. The first game told more of a tragedy where Lady Yuna saved Spira but lost the one she loved. The second game takes place two years later and is definitely more of a comedy; one need only watch some of the exchanges between the more serious Paine and the almost childlike Rikku to observe this.
It's a decent game, but take my advice DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS GAME WITHOUT A STRATECY GUIDE! There are three different endings to this game and you can only get the full ending if you play the game exactly right. I have attempted this game several times, and even with the New Game Plus feature it gets frustrating without help.

This game should really only be played to continue the story of Final Fantasy X. It is a good game, but unless you are in love with Final Fantasy X, it's not really worth playing.

Okay, I finally finished this the other day (it's been out for a long time, but I just never sat down and finished it), so I can finally review it. In a frightening mix of "Dress-Me-Up Barbie" and "Charlie's Angels", "Final Fantasy X-2" comes off as a very, very "girly" game. You couldn't have made this any more feminine if you made everything pink and put unicorns in it. But, once you get through the nauseating girliness of it all, it's not a horrible game. SYNOPSIS: After bringing about an eternal calm (see "Final Fantasy X"), High Summoner Yuna sees a recording of her lost love interest and goes out on a quest to find out what she can about it. And there's dressing in pretty outfits. And somehow singing in concerts brings about world peace. I dunno. PROS: It's more easy-going than most of the Final Fantasy games I know. And the FMV sequences are fantastic. The American version features vocals from Jade from Sweetbox (Japanese-American pop singer) that are actually pretty good. CONS: Naseating at some (many) points. "I get it. She's a girl. She's independant (except for her dependence on a guy who, for all she knows, is nonexistant). And cute. Whatever. Get on with it." And the whole "completion points" thing drove me up the wall. Especially when the people who made the "official" strategy guide can't do math. OVERALL: Wrapped up with a sugary-happy ending, this one's not as epic as the other Final Fantasies, and probably not as strong. But, it was worth playing.

I liked this game and have completed it 3 times now and have seen ALL three endings!! I really liked the side games in the Calm Lands--they were fun and challenging. Some of it was tedious (Promotion and Marriage Market), but I HAD to to them because they were there.

Why would they take the most boring character out of any FF series and give star her in her own game?

I, unlike most of the world, cant stand the final fantasy seires, Incredibly long, childish, and very, very boring. This game is only eye-candy, the fighting, if it 'is' fighting,is horrid. A game shouldnt be rated 5 for its half-naked characters.

Final Fantasy X-2 is a great game, but can't compete with Final Fantasy X. Period.

FFX-2 is epic in scope, daunting in re-playability, presents more genuinely tactical situations for varying battles, presents beautifully colorful landscapes for the eye and most evidently of all in what seems to have become a standard in gaming these days: it stars a trio of attractive women in curiously skimpy outfits. The most light-hearted fantasy offering yet, its more non-linear, female-oriented (or male oriented, depending on your point of view) story-line is a marked departure from previous outings and may disappoint purists, but so far I've found it to be quite endearing as well as addictive which is of course what the Final Fantasy series is all about.

I am rating this on Final Fantasy standards. This is a good game. BTW, Iamopinionated, if you complete the game correctly you do find out in the end what happens to him

This is an amazing Final Fantasy. How often does a sequel surpass the original? I think this one does. Final Fantasy X-2 graphics are simply astonishing, in spite of having many fewer FMVs than its predecessor. I think the graphics on FFX-2 may be even better than FFX's graphics. The gameplay is non-linear, which is a welcome change. However, it does have a few infuriating side quests, but that's to be expected. The battle sequences and level ups are nothing new, with the exception of garment grids. Changing garments during battle allows each player to take on a different set of attributes, such as Black Mage, White Mage, etc. The garment grid is a very original idea. However, I do miss the sphere grid of FFX. Final Fantasy X-2's storyline is somewhat non-traditional, which makes it fun and different. The storyline is mostly girl-power orientated, but it can be enjoyed by both genders. In my humble opinion, Final Fantasy X-2 is the second greatest of the series, next to FFVIII. Edit: There's a secret alternate ending

3 stars on this site means the game is okay. Yes the game is okay, but okay in general. Compared to the other Final Fantasies, especially its prequel, FFX, it's horrible. I bought the game because I wanted to hear an explination for a lot of stuff that happened at the end of FFX. However, the player learns jack. I do find the game to be kind of fun. It's got a unique gameplay to it with missions and various objectives that you may choose to or not to undertake. It's also got some lengthy sidequests in addition to the normal gameplay. However, the storyline sucks. Yuna, Rikku, and Paine run around searching for spheres that all of a sudden get detected all over Spira, wouldn't they have been found in X? I think the staff at Square-Enix is trying to make the game appeal to horny teens too. All of three (yes, only three) playable characters switch jobs via dresspheres. Therefore their outfit determines what abilities can and can't be used. And the outfits are rather skanky if I may say so. Perhaps the most aggravating part of the game is its music. Nobuo Uematsu, (in my opinion the best composer ever) did not do the music for this game. Therefore, the music sucks. There are only one or two good tracks, and there's not a lot of variety, i.e. the same tracks are played all the time. I did enjoy the game my first time through and I'm currently doing New Game Plus but it's rapidly losing its appeal. I think I only stuck with it because it's tied to so many fond memories I have of FFX. If you're thinking of buying it, rent it or borrow it from a friend first to see if it's worth it. It would be a shame to waste $50. And in case you were wondering, no we find out NOTHING about what happens to Tidus. A lot is left unexplained, which I find to be extremely aggravating.
