11/15/2004 | This was an entertaining and informative book. Ambrose's approach (i.e., to treat various topical or functional areas such as the replacement system, the medical system, etc, rather than describing one battle or campaign) was very interesting and effective. As usual, he seems to have done an awful lot of research and included plenty of anecdotes from direct participants.
